Classic Farms 6th Annual Spring Fever Simmental Sale
Classic Farms would like to welcome each of you to the 6th Annual Spring Fever Sale. We have had quite the year. We struggled through the summer/fall drought and this winter was a tough one, but the rest of the year was great. Carter enjoyed competing in the junior shows this past summer and we all enjoyed the state fairs and Keystone. We had a successful fall sale season, as well. Although the cattle business is our passion and we love the time we spend with such great cattle friends, our biggest blessing of the year beats all others! We will become Grandma and Grandpa this spring to a little cowboy here at Classic Farms!
The Spring Fever Sale has continued to grow and become a hot spot for buyers looking to add to or improve their herds. Our guest consignors who have joined us are some of the top breeders in the east that bring excellent quality and stand behind their livestock. Whether you are looking for your kid’s show heifer, genetic packages from in demand pedigrees, herd sires, or females to put into your breeding program, this set can fill the needs.
The time of year that we were gathering catalog material, with the winter we have had here in WV, and many other places around us, we weren’t able to picture everything we would have liked to, but head over to our website and Facebook pages to see updated pictures and videos of the lots from Classic Farms and all the consignors.
We will be broadcasting the sale through cci.live this year. If you can’t make the sale, join us online to place your bid, or call us and place your bid ahead of time.
If you would like to view our lots before the sale, visitors are always welcome at the farm. We’d love to show you our consignments and share a glass of sweet tea with you while we talk cattle!
Cattle will be on display all day Friday and please join us Friday night for a complimentary dinnerit is always an excellent meal with great fellowship. We will also have concessions available for breakfast and lunch on Saturday, in addition to pies available for purchase.
Let us know if you have any questions that we could help you with by giving us a call.
Simmentally yours, Chris and Kellee

Selling 1 set of 3 IVF Sexed Heifer Embryos. Boots was a cow we had fun showing that had a lot of success and she already has progeny following in her footsteps. Woodford is one of the hottest new sires to the breed with progeny topping several sales and shows this past year. Progeny from this mating will be competitive in the show ring, but will also make functional cows. We started to get several calves from our Boots donor now, and the future of this donor sure looks promising.

When I reflect on our program and think which animal started it all for us-the answer is easily our ”Lola” donor. She has been a big part of where our program is today, and she consistently proves to out-produce herself year in and year out. She is consistently stamping them out-with many of them highlighting and being top sellers in this exact sale and others. She stems from a very successful pedigree and did quite a bit of winning herself with division honors at NAILE, KILE and PA Farm Show, as well as countless jackpot breed champions. Her dam, STF Nostalgia, was the high seller donor at Trennepohl Farms and previous champion at Indiana State Fair. Her granddam is the famous STF Onyx. Lola has over 50 progeny registered in the Simmental association - highlighted by our Ruby donor, our up and coming Lady Luck donor, and our herdsire Redman. This November born baldy is flat shouldered, deep bodied, with an awesome running gear. She brings the extra bells and whistles. Sired by Next Level, who has been siring countless high dollar animals for the past couple sale seasons, I’d expect this female to be a very profitable investment and continue in the footstepsof the matriarch of our herd. Buy into a female that can move the needle for your program.

Our Gigi donor has out done herself again with this young fall born purebred heifer. She is beginning to make her own stamp on the Simmental breed with over 50 progeny registered. This heifer calf excels both phenotypically and genetically, and has that tremendous look and extension that is hard to find. She has that extra shot of bone, foot size, and hair while still being soft made with awesome angles. Elite genetics run strong in this female's pedigree. Multiple maternal sisters by our Gigi donor have been sale highlights all over the country with multiple of them that have demanded over 10K+in recent sales, with embryo matings bringing in excess of $1K+. Her granddam, HF Serena, has amassed 3+ million in progeny sales. I think this young female will easily follow in those footsteps. We expect this female to have the ability to take your program to the next level, as well as get you into the backdrop. Very unique opportunity here.

Heifer calf born 3/2/25 Sire: Winslow’s Redman (ASA#3957259). Big, powerful, feminine Broker half-blood cow that has been a staple in our herd. We would not typically be offering top end, proven cows from the heart of our program, but we wanted to highlight our new herdsire, Redman, and we thought no better way to do that than to bring some calves sired by him out of some of our best cows. Redman is the awesome red baldy full brother to our lead donor, Ruby. I think the potential for what this pair could bring to the table could easily make foundation females for years to come in any herd across the country. We are incredibly excited about the future of these Redman progeny.

Ms Honey was a piece of genetics we wanted to add to our herd based off of her background of elite productivity and incredible phenotype. We purchased embryos of this mating and were fortunate enough to have two embryos stick and end up with two productive, phenotypically desirable cows. The cow we will retain is a few years older, allowing us to offer the fresher, younger of the two. The cow we are offering has a sweet disposition and was a successful show heifer for us in 2022 hanging many banners. AI bred 12/14/24 to SSC SHELL SHOCKED 44B (2880060). Foxy Lady, needing no introduction here, is the dam of this quality bred heifer. Like her dam, Lighthearted Lady is phenotypically desirable, long spined, big boned, and big footed. Sired by Clearwater Clear Advantage, we sought to bring production to this mating with Foxy and did so successfully with this female. Her pedigree speaks to the value added by Clear Advantage to her pedigree and numbers, making them all average or above. This heifer speaks both genotypically and phenotypically, as a complete value added package. She is safe is calf, due to SSC Shell Shocked in mid September 2025. This heifer is structurally sound and still possesses the power and broodiness to produce heavy-weaning calves that would make any producer proud. Cop

This baldy heifer offers just the same as her dam- a huge foot, stout top, and a tremendous amount of lower rib. Mic’d Up has always been the spitting image of her donor dam and should be able to lay down and have the same bold-made, fast growing cattle that produce well and evolve any operation.
AI bred 11/30/24 to PVSM Victorious (3958197). I have always loved this girl's mom. I had a chance to buy her twice and didn't. I have no idea why I am selling this heifer. I bought these embryos to get a heifer just like this one, but I had too

Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs): EPDs are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For example, if sires A and B have EPDs of +10 and – 5, a 15-unit difference would be expected in their progeny (moving from -5 to +10 yields 15 units). Key to using EPDs is knowing what units they are expressed in. For example, if the above case referred to weaning weight EPDs, A would be expected to sire 15-pounds more weaning weight than B. If calving ease were the trait, A would be expected to sire 15-percent more unassisted births in first-calf heifers; in o ther words, if B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we’d expect A to require 15 assists. A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPDs rank him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org. Listed below are the units ASA EPDs are expressed in:
All-Purpose Index (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario. (See below for more details.)
Average Daily Gain (ADG): Pounds of postweaning daily weight gain.
Back Fat (BF): Inches of backfat.
Birth Weight (BW): Pounds of birth weight.
Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.
Carcass Weight (CW): Pounds of carcass weight.
Docility (DOC): Percent of offspring achieving a docile (1) score.
Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters.
Milk (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk.
Marbling (MRB): Marbling score.
Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.
Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye.
Warner-Bratzler Shear Force (WBSF):
Pounds of force required to shear a steak.
Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age.
Terminal Index (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario. (See below for more details.)
Weaning Weight (WW): Pounds of weaning weight.
Yearling Weight (YW): Pounds of yearling weight.
Yield Grade (YG): Yield grade score.
$ Indexes: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle. That’s where $ indexes come in. Through wellconceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several d ecades was used to develop the following $ indexes: All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.
Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield.
Using API and TI : First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. x 4 yr. = $6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the population. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org
Important disclaimer : DO NOT compare index values of purebreds of different breeds, hybrids of different breed composition or purebreds with hybrids our system was not developed to make valid comparison among these groups. Therefore, you must first determine the breed and breed composition appropriate for your herd and use index values to compare animals within that population.
