We would like to invite you to our 4th annual production sale, Sunday March 24th, 2024 here at the Dahlke farm in Bagley, MN. Our farmstead was purchased 76 years ago by my great-grandfather, Carl Dahlke, where he raised commercial cattle. My grandfather, Arlan, purchased his first registered red poll stock in the early 70’s and began selling seedstock shortly thereafter. By the late 80’s Arlan began purchasing the foundation red angus cows to the herd that we have today and began selling seedstock red angus in 1992. Many of the cattle in the sale are double digit generations of Dahlke genetics born and raised right here.
What an exciting time to be in the cattle buisness! Feeder cattle have just recently hit a new record all time high, surpassing the record prices of 2014. With the cattle inventory down another 2% since last year and being at its lowest point since 1951, most analysts are predicting that these prices are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Along with high feeder and fat cattle prices, the cull market has held strong through the winter months unlike most years. It is a great time to pound up those old cows and herd bulls, and invest in younger, more genetically advanced herd sires and females.
Once again we will be offering an excellent group of red angus and black red-gene carrier bulls along with registered bred females. New this year, we will be offering some purebred Angus bulls along with a great group of commercial bred heifers and open yearling heifers. As always, these cattle are bred, fed and designed to last. We encourage everybody to come check out the sale cattle and the cowherd on sale day or prior. We sold our cattle private treaty for many years and have always enjoyed talking cattle with other cattle producers while talking about their own specific goals & needs.
We continue to utilize top A.I bulls, some of which have been sold right here on this sale over the past few years, along with a continued investment in our embryo transfer program. We routinely flush the top 5% of our cow herd while putting those resulting embryos in the bottom performing cows. Although this is quite the added cost, we feel it is money well spent as this helps propel our program forward in an expedited, more consistent manor. By using bulls like Rockefeller, Outcome & Rancher who are all A.I studs that we produced, we know the generations behind them and know that they work in our northern Minnesota enviroment. This tends to take some of the guess work out of the equation and in return provides a better end product for us and our customers.
This years group of bulls represent the very top of our male calf crop, a group we feel are as consistent as we’ve ever offered. We like our cattle sound at the ground, correct in their overall structure, with above average growth and a disposition that allows sensable working ability. Fertility is still king & a top priority here. We feel a frame score of 5.5 to 6.0 with good fleshing ability helps aid the cows ability to breed up in a timely fashion. As far as foot quality, we prefer a hard black foot, with adequate heel depth with toes free of curl that point true. Please inspect the foot quality of these bulls on sale day as I’m confident you’ll be pleased with the overall quality.
As always, we are offering to buy 1 bag of FCCP tags per bull purchased to be used to capture added value for your feeder calves through age, source & genetic verification.
The cattle will be on display Sunday, March 24th, and you will be able to bid in person, on the phone or online at DVAuction.com. We offer free delivery in Minnesota and surrounding states along with delivery to states further than that at cost. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Here he is! A bull that solidified himself as the Lot 1 bull from early on, Outcross 317L does so many things right that the commercial cowboy desires. He’s a soft made, loose hided individual thats wide based and correct in his hip structure. Built from the ground up, 317L stands down on a hard, jet black foot and has that dark cherry red haircoat that we all love. His 10 year old dam is an absolute stunner that asserts herself as a true power cow in our herd. I would describe her as a 5.8-6.0 frame with tremendous amount of depth of body, wide pinned, wide tracking, heavy muscled cow that gets the job done every year. The maternal granddam and great granddam both produced past 10 years of age and the dam of Boxcar Willie 8538 is currently 16 years old and has bred AI every year of her life. Outcross 317L has us excited about his future & is a bull we feel can do a lot of good in any herd.

Wow! Loose hided, excellent foot with a good disposition. He’s a 3/4 brother to lots 4,5,6 and he could fit right in as another flushmate if a guy didnt know any better. Dam is a young up and coming superstar here, displaying impeccable foot and udder quality along with the angularity we’ve come to expect. Buy 2, 3 or even 4 of these 3/4 brothers, run them all together and I think you’ll be pleased with the uniformity in the calf crop and longevity of your bull power. Curverbender that commands attention when you step in the pen. 329L is a wide based bull that is extended from his hooks to his pins which is a staple from the progeny that stem from the great 200Y cow. We have got along well with the Foreman progeny and appreciate their added heel depth and gainability that they posess. One of the top gainers and will be an easy bull to find on sale day.
Another heifer bull canidate that combines two of the best outsourced sires we’ve used over the last 5 years in Spartan and Foreman. Often times in October/ November when the decision is made to cut the bottom 50% of the bull calves, I put a strong score emphasis on the cow thats behind the bull. When you commercial cattlemen call me the weeks prior to the sale, I need to have a strong belief in the cow behind these bulls that we are marketing. I can say with a full vote of confidence that the dam of this bull here is one of my highest ranking young cows on the place. Extremely fertile, stemming from the Sara tribe with an excellent udder and foot that we’ve come to expect from the Spartan sired cattle. Small skull with a smooth shoulder. Registered Angus bull stemming from some embryos we purchased from Larry Coleman in Montana. Excellent maternal traits on this guy as his granddam is a flush sister to the great Coleman Charlo bull who has done so many great things in the angus breed. 303L is a thick made bull that displayed a neck crest at a young age.
We flushed his young dam last spring and are anxiously expecting a large group of calves from her, and can’t wait to feature those calves next year as our purebred angus offering expands. Some of you may remember him from the pen show in town back in August. He hasn’t slowed down.

The next three lots are all Canadian sired bulls so don’t put too much emphasis on the EPD’s as these bulls are going to carry more growth and power than their numbers would indicate being from the Canadian angus herdbook. Lot 14 carries extra muscle and depth of body with a little different pedigree than we have provided in the past as he combines the John Wick lineage with LD Cap 316. His first calf dam did a good job spitting him out on her own and then breeding back first straw AI as we often see from the Sara line. She gets a 10 out of 10 for feet and udder quality. This guy will put some punch into your calves.
Time tested and proven out of the good U2 Reckoning sire. We purchased that semen for $200 a straw and have been using it on a limited basis on some of our top cows. 82G is often a pasture favorite around here and she entered the Donor pen this spring. Good footed with an awesome udder sired by the $450,000 SAV Raindance bull. 341L is a bull with some added base width and power that has been a standout from early on. New this year, we are offering commercial groups of females on our sale. These heifers are from Ryan Holm, Holm Family Farm. On July 12th, 2023 Ryan A.I bred 40 commercial red angus heifers to last years high selling bull, Dahlke Rancher 214K, who sold to ST Genetics for $24,000. Of the heifers that stuck A.I, we have selected 18 of them to offer up on this sale. I have went back through these heifers just recently and I can testify to their good disposition and overall quality appearance. These heifers were ultrasound confirmed AI bred at 70 days along with the sex of the calf on September 20th, 2023. Based on a 280 day red angus gestation, these heifers are due to calf on April 17th, 2024. Winning bid must take at least 1 of the 4 groups but can take as many groups as they want.
Vaccinations: Fall of 2023 - Ultrabac 8, Virashield 6VL5, Valbazen & Clean up 2. Mid-February 2024 - Poured again with Clean up 2 and given first round of ScourBos 9. Mid-March 2024 - Second round of ScourBos 9. They have been on an Alfalfa/grass hay ration with bucket fed cracked corn (roughly 10 lbs/head/week) along with free choice mineral and a trace mineral salt block. These heifers will be confirmed bred once again within a week from the sale by Turtle River Vet. If bought out of state they will be accompanied with health inspection paperwork.

Outcome 016H was a crowd favorite at our 2021 production sale & was the 2nd high selling bull to Semex Beef in Canada. We have sampled him the past two years and he has sired some phenomonal progeny. He sires outstanding phenotype in a dark cherry red hide. Outcome will be a leading AI sire this spring along with a number of embryos being implanted that we already have froze. Semen available from Semex.

Rockefeller 009H was our high selling bull in 2021, selling for $23,500 to Nathan Jensen & Semex Beef. Built from the ground up, he sires excellent footed cattle with a good angus skull & dark red hide. Due to an untimely injury, semen is virtually impossible to find. We will use our semen almost exclusively on top cows & in ET projects moving forward. Expect progeny here for many years to come.
Rancher 214K was our $24,000 high selling bull from 2023, selling to ST Genetics in Navasota, TX. We believe him to be a true, bet the ranch calving ease sire and plan to use him that way. His dam displays an elegant front 1/3, along with excellent udder quality and foot and leg design. She has shown high fertility, breeding first straw A.I her first three years, and is a cow we want to replicate as much as possible. Watch for her E.T calves to be a sale highlight next spring. Semen Available from ST Genetics.
Extra length, width, and gainability make Working Class a bull to put the power back into your cowherd. Exciting, early calf reports confirm his ability to pass down his proper angus skull design with the type of accelerated calf vigor every cowboy desires. His dam has raised our heaviest yearling weight bull for three years in a row while 231K came out of the breeding pasture weighing over 1600 pounds at 18 months old. Expect angular, extended front ends and excellent udder quality on the daughters. Semen available from Sire Buyer and A&R Red Angus.
Shameless 2151K was our 2023 Black/Red carrier purchase from the U2 quality seedstock sale in Alberta Canada. He displays tremendous neck and shoulder design and moves out like a cat on a good hard foot. In his first breeding season he presented a strong libido & desire to herd his cows getting them settled in a timely fashion. Dam is a top donor at U2Q.
Elite was our $26,000 selection from the 2023 Ellingson Angus sale. He froze semen right away and then came home and handled a large group of cows all while holding his flesh doing it.
Sired by Profound 8155 out of the herdbull producing EA Belles Girl 7617. Elite exhibits heavy muscle expression, massive depth of rib, wide pinned, while being fluid in his travel and standing down on a big square made, heavy heeled foot! I knew we needed an Elite herdsire to start our angus herd in the right direction and that is exactly what we got.
We expect a large group of progeny this spring, and we cant wait to offer them in next years sale. Semen will be exclusive to Dahlke Red Angus & Ellingson Angus.
