4th Annual Online Bull & Female Sale
MARCH 15-16, 2024 Online Auction
Lot 1
Lot 2
WELCOME Welcome to our 4th Annual Sale! First, we would like to thank all our past and future customers for their support in our program! We are truly blessed so many of you have put trust in our program! We can’t forget to give a big enough thanks to our friends, family, and neighbors for all the help they do on sale day and throughout the year. Without them, it would be hard to make it all happen with how fast time goes! It is an exciting time to be in the cattle business with the record setting feeder and fat cattle prices! Our operation is family owned and operated by my parents Russ and Paula, myself Austin and my fiancé Leczi and our 4 kids Emelea (6), Izaac (3), Waylon (2), Wrenley (9 months). Our goal is to provide you with Red Angus genetics that will last and be profitable. We want to know how our genetics are working in your herd or not working so we can improve and make them better!
Austin, Leczi, Emelea, Izaac, Waylon & Wrenley
We are really excited about this set of bulls we have to offer this year! It was a challenging year getting these bulls to this point, but they are looking good! Calving season was bitterly cold with lots of snow. Then summer rolled around and it was hot and dry all summer long. With no rain all summer the pastures didn’t grow much grass, so we brought the cows home at the end of July and started creep feeding the calves. At the end of July, we introduced a pellet creep feed to the calves. We preconditioned calves August 26th and then weaned them September 15th. Once we got the bulls weaned and on a TMR, they really started to pick up speed. We worked them up to a 48-cal diet by November 17th. January 1st, we ramped them up to a 50-cal diet and will keep them on that until February 1st. After February 1st, we will start working their diet down to get them ready for breeding season. The bulls are developed on a 5-acre pasture to provide enough exercise so they develop some physical endurance!
Russell & Paula
Our sale will be broadcasted the same way as the last 3 years on DVAuction – online only. Our open house will be a little different this year. Instead of having open house all day on Friday March 15th, we will be having a few guest speakers in the evening with supper! Please RSVP so we know how much food to prepare. We will have our normal open house on Saturday March 16th from 10 AM – 4 PM. For more information, check out the schedule of events on the sale info page. This format gives you the chance to shop at your own convenience, view bulls and go home and decide what lots to bid on. If you are unfamiliar with DVAuction or need assistance in bidding, don’t hesitate to contact one of us. Our sale order is grouped by sire groups. If you have any questions about our offering, feel free to reach out to me at any time! I’d love to go over this group of bulls with you. Sale day is always a busy day, so we encourage you to call ahead of sale day and we offer a $150 sale credit if you do so. Thanks for taking the time to check out our program and we hope to hear from you!

In the cattle industry we get paid by the pound and it’s no doubt that L317 will add pounds to your calf crop! L317 is for the true commercial cattlemen that’s not afraid of a little birthweight! He was an ET calf that came out a little bigger, but he never slowed down! L317’s actual weaning weight was 722 lbs on September 15 with very little grass this summer. On test he gained 4.9lbs./day and weighed 1,430 lbs on February 4! If you want to add bone, muscle and a punch back into your Red Angus calves, L317 will do just that! L317 is out of 358Z, a High Noon daughter that was in the Bieber Red Angus ET program and is now in our ET program. 358Z will be turning 12 this spring and will be calving at the front of our calving window! As a bonus, he has great disposition! Don’t miss this guy on sale day!

L302 and L320 are sired by Lorenzen Warrant 8273 a bull I have seen in person out at Koester Red Angus. 8273 stamps his progeny with lots of length, a big middle and a huge rear quarter! Both bulls were at the top of their WW contemporary group at 615 and 616 lbs., and both ratioed 106. L302 gained 3.5 lbs./day and L320 gained 3.6 lbs./day on a 70-day test! L302 and L320 are both out of moderate 4-year-old cows that are good footed, good uddered that milk hard! I will let you decide what bull is better! If you can’t decide, bring them both home and turn them out with a group of cows to bring a very consistent set of calves to town in fall!

If you are looking for a little more frame, L322 is your bull as he has a little more frame than the other two 5L Foreman sons! If you are looking for a calving ease bull without sacrificing growth, take a look at these 5L Foreman sons! Take a close look at L310 and L312 if you have heifers to breed and like to sleep all night – they are sure-fire calving ease! These two bulls are developing nice and had an ADG of 3.6lbs./day and 3.7lbs./day on test. L310 is a bull that has that small Angus head and is long spined! L312 is deep ribbed with a big hip! Both bulls are out of young, moderate cows that are good footed, good uddered and do an honest job of raising a nice calf! Keep all the heifers!

L332 and L339 are out of Dahlke Ms. Hilton 263C, a donor at Dahlke Red Angus that we purchased a flush on in their 2022 sale. 263C is a great footed cow that is one of the greatest females to walk their pastures. She is visually appealing with an abundance of base width and power, yet feminine and correct in her angles through her front third. L332 and L339 are sired by Dahlke Outcome 016H, a bull that is rising to the top at Semex. He is correctly made, long bodied, easy fleshing and has that attractive look. L332 and L339 are both correctly made in their angles and are deep heeled. Their flush sister is a standout in the replacement pen. Be sure to ask to check her out on sale day! Keep the females out of these two!

L313 and L337 are flush brothers out of our 9171-donor cow. Keep the heifers out of these two brothers as they are out of the female maker Bieber Forefront and a dam that is rising to the top of our herd for fertility! 9171 stuck AI as a yearling and 2-year-old, flushed and AI’d 21 days after as a 3-year-old, and flushed and AI’d 21 days after as a 4-year-old! 9171’s daughters have stuck AI every year also. Talk about fertility! Their maternal brother sells as lot 13 and maternal sister sells as lot 14.

L319 is a natural calf out of our donor 9171. His sire is Red U2 Reckoning 149A, a Canadian bull we paid $140 per unit of semen. If you want a bull that will go out and breed a lot of cows, check this bull out. With the fertility of his dam and the strong libido he offers he should have a lot of cows bred up early on preg. check day!
13
RED ANGUS FEMALES CHOICE OF 3 FLUSHMATES We purchased these embryos in the Red Revolution Sale in Oklahoma in 2022. We ended up getting three heifers out of this mating so we decided we could let one go. Instead of picking one to put in the sale we are going to offer choice on the three full sisters so you can pick the one you think is best! The dam of these heifers is Red Lazy MC Lady 17Y, a donor cow Veto Valley Farms purchased for a $30,000 evaluation. She is now deceased and this may be the only time you will be able to get a direct daughter out of 17Y. 17Y has become the poster child for her sire, Red Lazy MC Cowboy Cut. The sire Red Lazy MC Slash 105E was a high seller in the 2018 Signature Series Bull Sale. We will have pictures and videos of these three heifers on our website and on Facebook before the sale. If you have any questions about these three girls don’t hesitate to reach out! You will have some time after the sale to make your decision but we would like it done by March 24 so we can set the other ones up for breeding.

This girl shouldn’t be leaving but I wanted to offer something right off the top of our herd and we have other daughters out of 9171 and hopefully more coming. FERTIILITY comes to mind when thinking of this cow family and that’s what we need in the cattle industry to stay profitable. 9171 stuck AI as a yearling, 2-year-old, flushed and AI’d 21 days after as a 3-year-old, and flushed and AI’d 21 days after as a 4-year-old! 200K’s full sister, 103J has stuck AI both years as a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old. 200K calved on January 28 with a 68lb. bull calf sired by Bieber Bluechip H302. This bull calf will be off to a great start by sale day! Make sure to check this pair out on sale day!

110G is a good cow for someone who doesn’t want to calve out heifers. She knows how to lay down, calve, get up and get to work. She has a good udder and stands on really good feet. We have two of her daughters in our herd. If you’d like to look at them, feel free to let me know! She has a calving interval of 351 days. If you want a cow that you don’t have to worry about calving, make sure to check out 110G! Due April 15, 2024 to Bieber Tiberius G413.

2226 and 2239 are Red Angus Hereford cross heifers that we bought from Pieper Red Angus in their 2023 production sale. We purchased these girls to be recips and they didn’t take an embryo, so we won’t be able to use them in our ET program. Their heifer mates are calving now and are really good uddered and being good mothers! If you are in search for some good-looking commercial heifers, look at these two. 2226 is due May 7, 2024 and 2239 is due May 18, 2024, both pasture exposed to A&R Tiberius K226.

RED ANGUS FEMALES 21 5 COMMERCIAL BRED HEIFERS We purchased these 5 heifers as open heifers off the Tysdal dispersal sale last spring. We purchased them with the intent of breeding them and offering them on our sale as bred females. We set these girls up to be AI’d on July 2 to calve on April 10. They were all preg checked in October and confirmed bred. Three were confirmed AI bred and the other two are either AI bred or bull bred the first cycle. We AI’d them to Bieber Forefront B281 a proven calving ease sire so you should have no issue calving them out. We preg check the sale bred heifers again on February 2 and the vet said they all had a big calf inside. Take advantage of this calf market, calve these girls out in April and market them calves in fall for the high feeder price! Due April 10th to Bieber Forefront and pasture exposed to Dahlke Integrity 007H.
22A 2 COMMERCIAL RED OPEN HEIFERS
22B 2 COMMERCIAL OPEN BLACK HEIFERS
These open heifers come from the Brix family, and we really appreciate their cow herd. This group of calves are hand selected for this sale. Their mothers are good footed, good uddered and good mothers. Bid with confidence as you won’t find a better set of open heifers in the area. We stand behind these girls that they are open and breedable. They were poured and received Bovi-Shield Gold 5 on October 7. Your chance to purchase some top-quality open females and breed them to your choice of a bull this spring!

These embryos are out of Bieber Sam 358Z, a LCOC High Noon daughter that did a good job for Bieber Red Angus and is now doing a good job for us! We have six calves out of this mating so we decided we could let a few go. The sire, Bieber CL Stockmarket E119 needs little to no introduction as he is heavily used! 358Z will be turning 12 this spring and is still calving at the beginning of our calving window! She is a very good footed cow that has an udder that is built to last! She has 32 calves to her track record with more on the way. She is the dam of our Lot 1 bull in this year’s sale if you scrolled on by him go check him out! We sold two full brothers to this mating in our 2023 sale that are doing well for their new owners! We also have two full sisters to this mating as well and one has already calved. She has a good, snug udder with small, perfect teats that will last a lifetime! If you have any questions about the embryos, feel free to reach out anytime!

FEMALES Red Angus Guide to EPDSRED andANGUS Indexes ProS ... Profitability and Sustainability is an all-purpose index that predicts average economic differences in all segments in the beef supply chain. This index is a combination of the breeding objectives modeled in the HerdBuilder and GridMaster selection indexes. In this index, replacement heifers are retained from within the herd and all remaining progeny are fed out to slaughter and sold on a quality-based grid. Traits included in this index include calving ease, growth, HPG, STAY, Mature Weight, Dry Matter Intake and carcass traits. The resulting index is expressed in dollars per head born (Index/High Value).
HB ..... HerdBuilder is a maternal selection index that predicts the economic differences of animals for traits that are important from conception through weaning. Expressed as dollars per head born, HB is calculated based on the scenario that bulls are mated to heifers and cows, replacement heifers are retained and all remaining progeny are marketed at weaning. Traits included in the HB index include Calving Ease Direct, Calving Ease Maternal, Weaning Weight, Milk, Mature Weight, Heifer Pregnancy and Stayability (Index/High Value).
GM..... GridMaster is a selection index that predicts the average economic difference of non-replacement calves through the postweaning phase of production. GM places selection pressure on growth, feedyard performance and carcass traits. Expressed as dollars per head born, GM is calculated based on the scenario that progeny are fed out to slaughter and marketed on a quality-based carcass grid. Traits included in GM include Average Daily Gain, Carcass Weight, Dry Matter Intake, Marbling, Back Fat and Rib Eye Area (Index/High Value).
CED .......Calving Ease Direct predicts differences in the percent of calves born unassisted out of 2-year-old dams. (Percent/High Value)
CEM ...... Calving Ease Maternal predicts differences in the percent of daughters who are able to calve unassisted as 2-year-old heifers. (Percent/High Value)
BW ........Birth Weight predicts differences in actual birth weight of progeny. (Pounds/Low Value)
STAY......Stayability predicts differences in the ability of an animals’ retained daughters to remain productive in the herd – calve every year – through 6 years of age. (Percent/High Value)
WW .......Weaning Weight predicts differences in 205-day weaning weight. (Pounds/High Value) YW ........Yearling Weight predicts differences in 365-day yearling weight. (Pounds/High Value) ADG .......Average Daily Gain predicts differences in weight gain between 205 and 365 days of age. (Pounds/High Value) DMI .......Dry Matter Intake predicts differences in daily feed intake as measured in a feedlot during the post-weaning period. (Pounds/Low Value) MILK .....Milk predicts differences in weaning weight attributed to the milking ability of the animal’s daughters. (Pounds/High Value) ME ........Maintenance Energy predicts the difference in maintence energy requirements. (Mcal per Month/Low Value)
MARB .... Marbling predicts differences in marbling score – amount of intramuscular fat measured at the 13th rib. (Marbling Score Units/High Value) YG ......... Yield Grade predicts differences in USDA Yield Grade, which is calculated using CW, REA and Fat. (Yield Grade Units/Low Value) CW ........ Carcass Weight predicts differences in actual hot carcass weight. (Pounds/High Value) REA ....... Ribeye Area predicts differences in square inches of ribeye area measured at the 13th rib.(Square Inches/High Value) FAT........Fat predicts differences in the depth of backfat measured between the 12th and 13th ribs. (Inches/Low Value)
HPG .......Heifer Pregnancy predicts differences in the percent of daughters who are able to conceive and calve at 2 years of age following exposure to breeding. (Percent/High Value)
