TA Cattle 12th Annual Bull and Female Sale

Welcome

home of Terry & Julie Albrecht. Be on the lookout for the white house with red barn accompanied by the red TA Sign on the corner, you’ll find us there!

We’ve had this vision for many years to bring you right to the heart of our everyday operation. To say we’re excited to invite you to Thurston would be an understatement. With this change in location, our goal is to invite you and your family to our home! The place where we continue to build a legacy for the next generation of Albrecht children, Red Angus, Simmental, and Angus Cattle. We hope you’re able to stick around after the sale for food and fellowship, allowing us more time to visit and catch up with each of you. As you open the front cover of this catalog, finding yourself reading here, we not only appreciate your interest, but we feel it brought you to our offering for a reason. We’ve spent the last decade tailoring our breeding decisions to design a cow that is truly dual-purpose with the importance of cow fertility, longevity, and adaptability to all environments. (Jokingly) If we created a $TA Index, you’d know exactly what emphasis would be included in that calculation if you’ve followed our program. We continue fine tuning our cowherd creating that equal blend of both maternal and terminal, requiring us to cull cows even if they were some of our “favorites.” Searching for the best genetics and the right selection meeting our end goals, we accept the risk and the reward.

As a bull supplier, it’s our job to not just sell you a bull, furthermore, provide you with the right bull battery to meet your dual-purpose ($TA) needs excelling in all aspects of production. These age advantage bulls will sire progeny fitting the need of either your next set of replacement females or the next set of feeder cattle capturing premiums with the grid market. The all-purpose, all-around cowboy kind of bull power. You will notice our change in sale date alongside our sale location. We have found with having an earlier sale date and later calving season offers us the opportunity of marketing our females as bred heifers.

This year we have 200 Commercial Bred Heifers available. This is one of the nicest sets we’ve been able to offer. You will find both home-raised heifers out of our commercial cow herd and heifers that we’ve purchased from our customers. These females will fit the bill for that dual-purpose cow with good udders, disposition, and longevity to work for you for years to come.

Speaking of heifer progeny, don’t overlook the FIVE elite replacement heifers from our keeper pen. Once you look at their pedigrees, you’ll quickly find these are some of the most sought-after Red Angus genetics in the business today. Since we’re in the trend of NEW things this year, offering this caliber of heifers is a first – we’re not holding back! Remember that conversation about a dual-purpose female, who catches your eye phenotypically and EPDs to match? We might be YOUR ONE STOP BULL SHOP but sure find your way over to this pen to invest in your next future donor that will take you to the next level.

In closing, we are fortunate to have a family operation where three generations are helping with the day-to-day happenings of the farm and ranch. We might be bias, but we truly believe it’s the best way to raise a family. Andy and Abbie’s two kids now have cows of their own in the TA herd and even cattle in the sale offering. Atwood and Ariat play a huge role in everything that happens at the ranch. It is truly rewarding to witness these two young cattlemen! Travis and Lexi’s kids are just at the age to start helping too. You will find Millie horseback, Anson asking all the questions, and Taryn serving her role well as the oldest sibling and our HR consultant. We can’t forget about little Tate and the newest addition as of September, Miss Annabel Mae. This brings Terry and Julie’s grandkid count to 10! We also cannot forget our nephew Maddox, who has also been coming down between school and sports, to help on weekends at the farm in Thurston.

Without further ado, we look forward to seeing you at the farm on February 1! If you’re unable to attend, feel free to view and bid on DV Auction. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or if you’d like to stop out and view the cattle prior to sale day.

RETAINED INTEREST

We are retaining half interest in all bulls in the sale. We are selling the remaining half interest, full possession, and full salvage value. This option gives TA Cattle the option to collect, use, and market semen from the bull and does not restrict the purchaser from doing the same. This collection, unless agreed otherwise, would be done at the expense of TA Cattle, at the buyer’s convenience. Also at the time of purchase, the highest bidder on a retained interest bull may elect to purchase exclusive semen rights for 100% of the purchase price in addition to the purchased price on retained bulls. If a buyer elects to purchase exclusive semen rights, TA Cattle interest then becomes in herd use only, but TA Cattle retains all rights to use the bull within their herd.

GUARANTEE

All bulls selling for $4,000 or more are guaranteed for the first breeding season. A breeding season is defined as the 90 day period following the first turnout of the bull. If a replacement bull is available, he will be provided or if the buyer prefers, credit toward one bull will be given in the following sale, less salvage value of the injured bull. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage.

VACCINATION RECORD

All cattle have been vaccinated, starting at 30 days of age, at grass turn out, and again at pre-weaning and post-weaning. They were poured and dewormed. Vaccinations include 7-way clostridial, IBR, BVD, P13, BRSV, haemophilus somnus, and pasturellas. Any positive test results will be noted with EPDs throughout the catalog. The open heifers have also been Bangs vaccinated. The bulls and heifers have had their pre-breeding shot—Express FP 5-VL5. If you would like specific details on products used please give us a call. The bulls will be sold as guaranteed breeders according to the sale terms and conditions of the RAAA.

DELIVERY

Free delivery up to 300 miles. All bulls will be boarded free of charge until March 1. After that there will be a $4.00/hd/day feed charge until they are picked up or delivered. If you would like TA Cattle to feed and breed the open heifers, let us know right after the sale so arrangements can be made. If you do not need our services, then all heifers must be picked up the following day unless other arrangements are made. Bred heifers can be loaded at the conclusion of the sale. We would prefer if we did not load bulls after the sale, but the following day or they will be delivered within the next 30 days.

RedAngus Bulls

What a way to start the sale in 2025! Three full brothers to one of the most talked about bulls in the breed, Drifter H10. Their sire, Hobo 0545, has been a go to for maternal power for years in our herd. The females consistently raise a big calf and breed back on time year after year. Longevity in your cow herd is the most profitable asset that you can select for, and there aren’t many that can stand up to the daughters that he has left behind over the last 25 years. Their dam F66, has jumped through all the hoops in our program and is the definition of what we look for in a female. L407 is a bull that you will still get excited about 20 years from now. He is soft made, easy fleshing, and level hipped. Top 1% ProS, top 1% HB top 6% GM top 2 % CED top 1% Stay top 2% Marbling. It’s a very short list of sires that can put up that kind of data and look the way he does. He froze semen at 12 months and was used heavily in our herd this last summer. We are excited for the future of the Red Angus breed and know this bull will only help it get better!

HOBO L262

TAC BLUEPRINT L535

Been a favorite since the day he was born. L535 is a natural calf of F66. His sire 0171 was our pick of bulls from the Nine Mile program in 2021. His sire is one of the best female makers in the Black Angus breed. L535 has known he wanted to be a bull since he was 2 months old, always herding and trying to sort his own group. Libido is a very important trait in keeping a tight calving window and he sure has it. He combines 10 traits in the top 20% of the breed and was the #2 WW, #2 YW of all his contemporaries. We are confident he will be a very key breeding piece for many different reasons.

TAC ROLLIN DEEP L420

Notice a method to the madness yet? Our program is based around females. We strive for maternally oriented sires that can also give a premium on the grid. Rollin Deep is no stranger to the breed. The female base we have from him are some of our best. The only hole that he has is, they have a tendency to not marble. L420 may be the answer we were looking for, he ratioed 138 on marbling winning his contemporary group. Last I heard Rolling Deep semen was very rare and bringing over $700 per unit. Buy this son backed by one of the best females in the breed!

DRIFTER L272

LOTS 6-15

Drifter has made quite the buzz the last 12 months with semen bringing $2500/straw. His offspring have topped every sale they have been a part of being purchased by some of the most astute breeders and bull studs in the country. For good reason, they are consistently good, have unmatched early growth while keeping frame size in check, and are as dual purpose on paper as you can draw one up. As we prove him out, the females that he is leaving behind is what really gets us excited. Versatile EPD profile that is an outcross to most all popular pedigrees today. Was the highest AI conception sire we used in 2021 and 2022. Out of the 17 daughters coming with their second calf for 2025, 100% of them were bred up in 42 days. The 23 2023 born yearling heifers sired by him were 77% AI on a mass breed

an

conception of 96% in 42 days.

Reference Sire TAC DRIFTER H10
The brute of the sale. He is full of red meat and eye appeal. Backed by two of our favorite cows on the ranch. 191 has a 103 MPPA on 47 offspring and F66 has a 110.5 on 16. This is as proven as it gets!

TAC DRIFTER

This bull has been on the short list since day one! We used him AI on heifers, cows, and had him clean up on heifers. He is royally bred and has another full brother in the yearling pen. 3/4 brother to lot 6. 8 traits in the top 20% of the breed. He ratioed over 100 for every measurable trait. We are excited for the Rover calves coming this spring.

TAC DRIFTER L287

Guarantee is a full brother to F66, the mother to Drifter. There is a reason we named him Guarantee - he stamps them with look and as you can see, great carcass! They come at a consistent 65-72 pounds full of piss and vinegar. He is a sire that we will be using heavily on heifers and making females. Has a great number profile that is easy to stick him anywhere. B47 is one of the best Hard Drive females around, she has produced several high sellers over the years while maintaining a 105 MPPA on 55 progeny. There are a lot of things we like about these Guarantee sons.

BLACK, POLLED. This dude is an absolute freak of nature. He had an adjusted WW of 844 ratioing 131 all while his 1320 pound, 5 frame dam had a BCS of 7, weaning off 64% of her body weight. G154 is the best Simmental cow on the ranch. She has a 104.8 MPPA and 373-day calving interval. Never in a million years did we think we would get a red one out of her but we did. She has a 101.2 MPPA with a 378-day calving interval on 5 calves. She has a good one every year. We plan to sample this bull as an AI sire. He ranks in the top 10% of the breed for CE and BW, top 5% for Stay, and top 10% for API. He should sire extraordinary, easy-keeping females.

TAC 274H L374

HETEROZYGOUS BLACK, POLLED. TAC Husker L590 is going to make excellent females. If you want to make red or black baldies, he can do both since he’s heterozygous black. L590 is a real breeding piece, he’s out of G159 who goes back to 602D, who is the dam of Lot 74. Put those two together in a pasture and you’ll have a nice, uniform set of calves. G159 has a 103.6 MPPA with a 370-day calving interval.

LOTS 59-63

We came across 274H when we were looking for a 231A son that would make exceptional females. He ranks in top 2% of the breed for stay and is a sleep all night heifer bull. He is heterozygous black so we were hoping to get some outcross genetics out of him. L374 is the only one we don’t feel comfortable selling as a heifer bull. All of these 274H’s should make extraordinary females. They also carry great carcass and growth traits. They check all the boxes.

LOTS 66-70

TAC DOUBLE AGENT L558

TAC HUSKER L625

HETEROZYGOUS BLACK, POLLED. L625 is one of my favorite bulls in the entire offering. He is out of a standout cow that has a 371-day calving interval. E45 goes back to 384A, who is a direct 600U daughter. If you’ve been in the Simmental breed long, you know who 600U is. His daughters are some of the best cows you could own. At 12-years-old, 384A is still in production. L625 ratioed 111 for weaning and 107 for yearling, which are the 2nd highest in his contemporary group. He has an IMF ratio of 126, putting him first in his contemporary group.

The next 5 bulls are all Redhill Double Agent 139H sons. Last we checked he was over $30,000 for $ Profit. He was our pick on Redhill’s 2021 sale. He is a sleep all night heifer bull. We haven’t assisted any of his calves. 139H’s progeny have low birthweight and excellent growth.

TAC DOUBLE AGENT L567

RED, POLLED. A236 has been an incredible donor with 38 recorded progeny. She has a

TAC Drifter H10 was her natural calf as a first calf heifer. He is setting records in the Red Angus breed for high sellers on production sales across the country. Drifter was purchased by Rhodes Red Angus and Twedt Red Angus. She is a lot more moderate than her mother. She is a lot more compact, very stout made, but still has a lot of capacity. F66 has a flawless udder and teat. As a second calver she was in a calving lot without a lot of protection, a cold and windy spell came through, she found a bowl of natural protection to calve in—her mothering instincts are incredible. That bull went to Sonstegard Red Angus in Minnesota. Her 3rd calf was a heifer that we retained in our herd. Her 4th natural calf, TAC Blueprint L535, is on the sale today. He had the second highest weaning and yearling weights in his contemporary group. This brings us to M238, who has 12 EPDs in the top 20 percent of the breed. KLEIN SANDY 331A

She is out of a first calf heifer, TAC Ms Sandy K198-G82. K198 weighed 1152# when we weaned calves this fall. She had a 49” hip height at that time. She has a beautiful udder and teat. K198’s granddam is our 331A donor that we purchased on Klein’s dispersion. 331A is a linebred 5L Signature. We’ve sold and retained tons of 331A’s progeny. K198’s maternal grandsire is Basin Payweight Plus 6048. We saw him at OriGen in Montana and knew we had to use him. Unfortunately, he got hurt at a young age and semen was very limited. We were able to obtain the majority of semen that had been put up on him. There are very few Black Angus sons and none in the Red Angus breed, other than what we have raised. Not only is M11 a complete outcross, but she has the makings to be an elite donor. An interesting thing about this heifer is that her maternal granddam, maternal great granddam, maternal great grandsire, and maternal great, great grandsire are all black. Add in the fact that M11 is sired by Drifter, and you’ve got a heifer than you can’t pass up.

MS F207- 1376

M245’s dam, TAC Ms H118-F207, goes back to a proven cow family and our 2017 high selling Black Angus bull, TAC Cold Cash D179. H118 has a 378 day calving interval, she has never missed to AI. She weighed 1300# when we weaned calves last fall and had a 54” hip height. Lot 62 is out of H118’s dam, F207. Consistency runs deep in this pedigree. This heifer is bigger framed, broody, pretty-fronted with a lot of potential. This girl knows how to grow, she had the 4th highest weaning weight of the Simmental heifers. Don’t let M245 slip through the cracks.
