Benchmark Charolais Bull Sale Welcome to the 5th Annual Benchmark Bull Sale. It’s an exciting time to be in the cow-calf business with prices being at an all time high. The demand for Charolais and Char-cross calves continues to increase. Add in our philosophy of easy calving and high weaning weight and you will reap the benefits in the fall. For those of you looking to retain replacement heifers in your herd our balanced EPD’s should give you the growth, as well as the milking ability you are looking for. The Blackbern and Whitewater bulls are being fed at our farm in Foresters Falls. The bulls are fed free choice hay and limit fed a pelletted bull ration. The bull field allows the “boys” to get the exercise they require to maintain great muscle condition with limited fat. Look through the catalogue and contact Keith or Kurtis for more information. These pictures were taken in January so please feel free to stop by to view the bulls at any time as they will change appearance almost weekly at this stage of their development. It is with anticipated excitement that we offer these bulls to you from our breeding program. The demand for Char and Char cross cattle in the feedlot continues to be very strong. Presented before you is the opportunity to enhance or replace your herd sire with the expectation of increased pounds for your cattle come sale time. The bulls at Kirlene Cattle have been fed 4th cut wrapped hay along with a 12% bull pellet ration from Shur Gain. The bulls have been weighed every 28 days and the results can be followed on the BIO web site, under ‘bull evaluation’. Our bulls are smooth shouldered, deep and thick with lots of hair. Some are recommended for heifers, while others have been haltered and part of our show string. Please give us a call and we can help you in your selection process to enhance your farms breeding program. Remember at Kirlene Cattle there are always “Endless Options and Endless Possibilities”. Sale Terms
• Bulls sell under the standard terms and conditions set out by the Canadian Charolais & Simmental Associations. • Please make all settlements immediately after the sale.
Bull Health
• All bulls will sell with a semen check and vet examination to ensure that you are purchasing a quality herd bull. • Additional performance data will be available on sale day. • The Blackbern and WhiteWater herds are vaccinated using the Bovishield Gold live vaccine protocol, and the bulls will also have received their blackleg booster shot. • Kirlene vaccination program Pyramid 5, Tasvax and Ivomec.
Delivery
• Please see the seller if you require delivery after the sale. Shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. • We will keep bulls until April 30 free of charge. As of May 1, a boarding fee of $3.00 per day applies. We are not liable for the bulls after the sale and ask that you insure any bull returning to the farm.

Increase in pounds per calf from a top-performance bull × number of cows bred to a bull each year × number of years to keep the bull × expected selling price of calves = additional dollars you can pay for a better bull Example: If a bull adds 30 lbs to calf weights × 25 calves = 750 lbs 750 lbs x 4 years = 3000 lbs 3,000 lbs × $2.50/lb = 7,500 additional dollars
