Upper Galilee Galilee has rocky terrain and heavy rainfall. The flora and fauna thrive in the beautifully green, mediterranean climate. This is a lemon orchard in Upper Galilee.

Map of the Sea The Sea of Galilee is surrounded by mountains and small plains. Capernaum, on the northern banks, is the location where Jesus set up His headquarters toward the beginning of His ministry (see Matthew 4:12-13).

Freshwater Lake The Sea of Galilee is the lowest freshwater lake in the world at 215 metres (705 ft) below sea level. It’s fed partially by underground springs and flows into the Jordan River. It is approx. 13 miles long, and 8 miles wide. This diagram shows its depth. Faigl.ladislav, Bathymetric map of Sea of Galilee, CC BY-SA 4.0

Sea of Galilee Since the Sea of Galilee is not very big, it is easy to see right across it to the mountains all around.

Fishing on the Sea Many of Christ’s disciples were fishermen. Peter, James, and John worked countless hours and days fishing on this lake. Here is an artistic view of some modern day fishing boats on the Sea of Galilee.
