Remain faithful to a harmonic ideal of rationality and regularity, expertly filtered from a humanistic and cosmopolitan cultural background, the high-end Italian brand Flexform mood is designed by three talented designers – Italian Roberto Lazzeroni, his compatriot Carlo Colombo and American John Hutton. Admired for its understated elegance, warmth and familiarity, the brand is created for the discriminating international client who refuses to settle for mass-produced furniture. Cleverly and sensitively expressed in precise lines and soft rounded shapes, the style is relaxed and inviting, exuding a sense of richness with utmost discretion. The clean lines, decorative taste, relaxed and inviting style give rise to a liberating interior space that expresses a profound richness, of the utmost discretion.

14 Flexform Mood

The Flexform mood’s furniture is committed to maintaining a first class customer service, offering unparalleled added value to each individual client. The design is about creating stylish and intelligent home environments; not only aesthetically pleasing but also contribute to a better quality of life. The range is extensive, covering sofas, armchairs, sideboards and beds, chairs, mirrors and small tables, with each piece remaining faithful to a harmonious ideal of rationality and regularity. Design carried out by a sure hand and with exceptional precision, is not only technically perfect, but always answers to the practical needs dictated by the reality of life. A distinct graphic line is the result of an uninhibited and creative relationship with classical design elements thus producing an original blend of sensual elements and intellectual fascinations. The driving forces behind this are the forms of culture, the various histories and sensibilities deposited in each of us throughout the course of time and a position of ethical meaning, even before that of aesthetics.

To relish the precision of proportions, the clearness of shapes that grab the essential and envelope it without adding the unnecessary. The soft landing leads to a vast interior space which is open onto seductive points of refuge that invite one to linger in moments of distraction. The passing of time moves in a fluid and controlled way. There is a specific space required in order to relish each moment, which envelopes one with a protective sensation of familiarity and encourages an openness towards the various callings and surprises from around the world.

“The unexpected, fluidity, mystery, the instant combustion of visions.” Guido Piovene

In Flexform mood’s furniture, there is an almost immediate secret bond created between an absolutely contemporary form and an antique, noble home; a safe hold for an illustrious tradition. Aesthetic emotion springs forth from a sort of shared imaginary dream, from a cultural history with deeply planted roots in the past, which retraces its steps at a lighting fast speed, only to stop for a moment of rest.

ust when you thought that world famous products are done by a big factory, when every producer tries to get best technology in their production line, an exception appears in 22-acre-workshop of Christopher Guy in the lush Java lowlands. It is in 1993 that the first reference is made to Christopher Guys’ decorative furnishings; the start of a long love story, which was to give birth to many legendary models. The latest Decorative Furnishings Collection features more than eight hundred pieces illustrating the progression of design styles and techniques used in Christopher Guy’s unique creations.

The first Christopher Guy creations were brought to life in mid ‘90s. The pilot collection is fabulous mirror frame collection. To produce this repertoire of beautiful pieces, flounder and designer Christopher Guy Harrison set about building his own dedicated workshops, which today cover one million square feet on the lush Javanese foothills. Those who first set eyes on the site believe it to be a vast, centuries-old Spanish monastery, but this extraordinary base was in reality designed, built and landscaped by Christopher in the late ‘90s, fashioned to capture the sense of mystique and drama so prevalent in the company’s collections. More astonishing yet, behind these imposing façades lays a state-of-the-art manufacturing base, the workplace to 1400 of the world’s finest craftsmen.

hristopher Guy’s creations are treated as art pieces. Every detail been designed carefully. And, production has made all the design real neatly to carry on sophisticated thinking process through a piece of the collection. “I created the Chris-X, where the back of the chair crisscross. We even patented it because it has never been done before. Now it’s signature of the Christopher Guy collection. When I was designing the chair, I wanted to create something unique that would appeal to the mass market but that was also comfortable. This is a challenge. In this new collection I have come up with the silk cut, where the silk back of the chairs are slit – another unique design. One thing that I’m proud of is when people recognize my brand. These signature qualities make that possible.” Christopher Guy’s furniture appeared in hundreds of Hollywood film set and is showing in Christopher Guy showroom in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. With elegance design, Christopher Guy was selected to be leading designer for hotel, casino and fine resident in Las Vegas, Macau and France. Christopher Guy’s collection is on display at Euro Creations Gallery at Thonglor.

Hit a big note with Natuzzi

Note Chair

A t 2012 Salone del Mobile, many masterpieces in the furniture world were present inside each of their stunning pavilion. They are the perfect combination of art, craftsmanship, and technology. Euro Creations bring them right in front of you now! Note Chair, Natuzzi’s conceptual piece 2012, reflects the Natuzzi Cocoon Philosophy that pushes research towards the design of new living spaces, to escape the chaos and stress of the outside world. Note Chair’s wrapped and protective shapes are developed from the egg-shaped ‘Natuzzi Sound Chair’ with integrated audio system that lets you connect external devices like an iPad/iPhone or even TV and Dolby surround systems, via wireless system or mini-jack. Its features are made to satisfy higher expectation of end users. The 25-Watt speakers are positioned directly in the headrest while the perforations in the covering highlight the three-dimensional sound effect. There are two different versions; available in the leather and soft cover with metal base finishing. It is also foreseen to complete this project with the development of a footstool.

How did your relationship with Mood start?

Arch. Lazzeroni

28 Designer Interview

I work with Flexform Mood since 2007, six years already. In these years we have built an extremely important collection, the relationship with the Company is excellent, based on mutual respect and great affection.

What is your design signature? How do you incorporate it into Flexform Mood Collection? My products are characterized by an organic sign and in all my projects you can see a clear link with the past.

What is your favorite piece?

How do you get inspiration?

Dragonfly little sofa, because it is elegant and very sophisticated.

My design, that I call “Sentimental design” take inspiration from the signs of the past, the history of design, but also from suggestions that come from the world of art.

There are large numbers of Italian furniture in contemporary style. What makes Flexform Mood different from others? They are elegant, not vulgar, designed to last a long time, they have a strong personality, but not intrusive. They are designed for a demanding client and produced by a Company with a long tradition and considerable executive ability.

What do you think about 2013 design trend? The 2013 trend will be “going back’’ to projects meant to last, I hope the end of frivolous projects ....

What are Dos and Don’ts for end-customers on how to select furniture? Don’t recommend bad or frivolous objects !!
