What Is Autism Spectrum Disorder & How It Can Be Diagnosed?

These days most of us know that one of the most complex problems that occur among children is none other than autism. Autism is a condition that can cause significant behavioral, social, and communication challenges. Autism spectrum disorder is also popularly known as ASD and autism. It is a broad term that is used for describing a group of neurodevelopment disorders. Autism is a developmental disability that affects the thinking, learning, and problem-solving abilities of a person. Many of us have just heard about it, but still don’t have much idea that what is ASD disorder. But it is essential for each parent to be aware of it and have some idea that what it is. Being aware of the causes, and symptoms help to properly examine it and catch the early signs of it in any child. What is autism spectrum disorder?


Autism spectrum disorder is a condition that each parent should be aware of to ensure that they can easily identify that whether their child is suffering from such disorder or not. It is important for the parent to be aware of this condition as many times it is highly misunderstood and the parents don't understand the signs of it. It is a disorder that occurs at a very early age. ASD is a disorder that primarily affects the cognitive abilities of the person that are highly reflected in the developmental skills. In 2013 the term autism was changed by the American psychiatric association to autism spectrum disorder as which autism spectrum disorder is considered an umbrella term that covers autistic disorder, Asperger syndrome, and PDD-NOS. In autism spectrum disorder the patient usually finds it difficult to socialize or communicate normally. Diagnosis:ASD is a disorder the diagnosis of which includes different conditions that need to be diagnosed separately. It is tough to diagnose ASD, as there is no medical test, to diagnose the disorder. It can only be diagnosed with the behavior and development of the child. The most obvious signs of this disorder can be traced to the inability of the child to socialize or communicate properly like others. Some patients with autism spectrum disorder keep repeating the words or sentences even without understanding them. Some types of ASD are measured as idiopathic because they originate from an unknown cause. Along with this, ASD results due to some factors such as parenting, genes, and vaccines, etc. It gets quite tough to identify the autism spectrum disorder as no two patients can have the same symptoms. Along with this, the intensity of the impact of autism spectrum disorder also varies


with patients. Those in such conditions also find it tough to think and express their emotions appropriately. Treatment:Autism spectrum disorder is a condition whose each patient needs different treatment. Being aware of what ASD disorder is, helps to catch the signs when a child faces difficulty in expressing and communicating properly. However, during the treatment, it is also important for the family members or parents of the patient to equally participate during the behavioral sessions.
