EDITOR'S NOTE EDITOR'S NOTE

Hey llamas!!

It's me again and we're already on the second newsletter of the term! I hope everyone's summer has been relaxing and filled with fun! We are officially in the second month of the summer. I still have class as I signed up for calculus 1, so school never really ended for me. I've also been working to have my license before the school year starts. I do however go out as much as I can to enjoy my summer.

The R9 olympics are coming up as I write this message. It's the biggest dcm of the term so I'm excited to see you all there. I hope everyone can meet new friends there and maybe even have your key club moment~

Yours in service,

Editor

How's it servin' llamas?

This Summer is the most chaotic but also fun and interesting one I have experienced. I've taken on a few things including two college classes, Cultural Anthropology and Statistics, an internship in health education, and involvement with other organizations. In July there's been plenty to do involving Key Club as there was ICON at the beginning of the month and Summer Board Training for LTGs at the end of the month.

Either way as the month ends, the dread of school and college apps season coming grows immensely. Not only that, we're offically a quarter through the term already! R9 Olympics is over, next there'll be RTC, FRN, CTC, Conclave, then I'm already retired! The term will go by super fast and I already know that I will miss this division. I can only hope that I leave behind a successful legacy.

Club officers are making more progress on how to be a club and plan things. I hope to see further growth during August!

Spitting Out Service,

Lieutenant Governor 05

JUNE DCMJUNE DCM

Our 'Pie For PTP' DCM occurred on June 10th at Chabot Lake Park in Castro Valley. It was the first dcm after electing the new division leadership team. We had outstanding attendance with all clubs having officers and/or members attending. Many of our Kawani advisors also attended and stayed with us throughout the DCM. We went through DLT introductions as well as announcing our monthly recognitions. The highlight of the dcm however, has to be the pie-ing! The June dcm has a yearly tradition of pie-ing, where Key Clubbers pie each other (with consent of course) and raise money for PTP. Our DCM gathered over $150 into our goal of $3,500 with this single event.

CONFERENCE CONFERENCE

OTC was certainly a new experience for the division as a whole! It's been a while since our division has held a physical officer training conference but we did it! The majority of the work and presenters were from our sister division, 2 North. We are grateful that we are able to learn from them.

Overall attendance from our division was not the best as it did occur over the Summer; the majority of our officers were seemingly on vacation. That is fine though as resources were sent out for all those who were unable to attend.

All in all, we had some great presenters who talked about a few key subjects including Key Club 101, the Kiwanis Family, Recruitment and Retention, and all of the officer guides!

Thank you to all that did come!

Club Update

This June, San Leandro Key Club hosted 1 volunteering event, 1 general meeting, and 3 other updates posted to our members. Unfortunately, we have not organized as many events as we would be aiming for. But once we finish electing our new appointed positions we should be heading back on track.

Club Update

The officers held a visitation with our LTG on the 12th and had an officer meeting afterwards. A couple officers went to 2 Kiwanis meetings on Tuesday nights. There were no events held by Castro Valley Key Club during June, but we attended the June DCM and we are planning a service event and fundraiser to do in July.

Charity Miles Walk

Alameda High School Editor - Christopher Quan

On Tuesday, June 13th, Alameda Key Club held a Charity Miles Walk Event. Key Clubbers walked from Crab Cove Visitor Center to South Shore Center and helped raise money through the Charity Miles App. Although there weren’t many attendees due to busy Summer schedules, it was still a very fun and engaging event where Key Clubbers socialized with officers and other members. This presented a pleasant bonding experience that

simultaneously benefited others. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to this event!

Club Update

In the month of June, Alameda Key Club held one service event and attended one interclub event. Entering Summer, June was a harder month for our club due to low availability in schedules. Only a few officers and members were able to make it to our events. Moving forward, we hope to add more diversity in the types of events/fundraisers put out, hopefully bringing more members to participate. Stay tuned for new and exciting plans!
