My Job Duties About Saxum My job duties consisted of assisting the Saxumites! Most days started off with P.I.F.’s ( Project Initiation Form) that outlined a new project for me to get started on. They were usually accompanied with an e-mail from the account manager giving more detail and attached material needed. I would start on the project, doing research and sketches, asking for help along the way if I needed it. I would usually come up with a few options and then send them to Dan to get his creative feedback. After a couple were chosen, I would send them to the account manager who would then send them to the client. The client would choose one, and I would make edits for them. The main duties expected of me: • Doing research for a client or Saxumite • Taking photos with my camera and editing them • Making copies • Editing photos • Making mock-ups • Getting printer estimates and specking print jobs • Creating custom vector graphics • Designing using Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign • Creating templates • Making edits to text and design elements • Purchase stock photos • Log expenses • Log in hours and use bill4time.com

Skills Learned About Saxum • More efficient in Adobe Indesign • More efficient in Adobe Illustrator • Learned Outlook Express • Learned messaging through Skype • Learned how to spec for printer • Learned about different ways to bill clients • Learned how to log in time using bill4time.com • Learned how to purchase from istockphoto.com • More efficient in photography studio • Learned more about logo style guides • More efficient in making mock ups • More efficient in creating info graphics

The Evaluation About Saxum Overall, I had an amazing experience with Saxum! Everyone who works there was very helpful and friendly towards me the entire time I was there. I really enjoyed and appreciated how much they trusted me to work on projects for clients on my own. They also worked around my schedule and allowed me to put school before any work for them! I was pleasantly surprised when they asked me to use my camera and photography skills for them on multiple occasions, using a room in the back as a studio. They are always so quick to say “thank you for anything and everything I did for them! I got to work with most of the employees on various projects and see a bit of what they do and how they manage accounts. I also sat in on, and participated in many client meetings! One of my favorite moments was when Houda announced in a staff meeting that the George Kaiser Family Foundation wanted to use my design for their Educare schools nationally. Of course, one of the best aspects about this internship is that it was paid! I got to experience keeping track of my time and logging it into the system to ensure I would get paid accurately. It really helped enhance the experience and made me feel less like a student and more like a working professional. I love how fun and creative the entire team at Saxum is. They throw amazing parties for holidays and birthdays, complete with a theme for each one! They make staff meetings fun and have brainstorm meetings to get big, creative ideas for clients. I am thankful for my time there, at a time when they are growing and becoming more known and respected throughout OKC. I highly recommend any design student to intern at Saxum!
