Can you believe we have reached the Summer already? Well lets hope for some better and drier weather than the last few months, as nobody wants it to rain on their big day. It is about the only thing you can not book for your day, but you can be prepared - wellies and umbrellas at the ready! Are you getting stressed out with all the planning and have you actually thought about and visualised walking down the aisle yet? If that part fills you with dread, then you must read our article on Body Confidence by Cassie Farren on page 10 as she gives some great advice. In this issue we have included a selection of bridal dress that have caught our eye and you can find a list of local stockists on page 18 too, plus there is our regular ‘Tried & Tested’ article on page 14. Finally we are now expanding the area we cover with the magazine and instead of just concentrating on Northamptonshire, you can now find information for the East Midlands region. We look forward to bringing you some more fantastic suppliers from further afield, so to keep up with our latest information, please take a look at our Facebook page, website and sign-up for our email newsletter.

Would you like to walk up the aisle feeling calm, confident and completely in control? By Cassie Farren - Body Confidence Trainer

Would you like to enjoy every moment of your special day rather than feel self-conscious and uncomfortable with all the attention being on you? The majority of brides spend months, if not years, planning every detail of their big day. There can be hours of planning and decision making ensuring that everything on the day goes perfectly. It is probably the most money that you’ll ever spend on one day. Brides can often put an enormous amount of pressure on themselves trying to ensure that everyone else has a perfect day, which can lead to them feeling constantly stressed and anxious about getting it all right.

How do you feel about actually walking down the aisle? Most girls dream of finding their dream man and that special moment where they walk down the aisle in front of their family and friends to finally become man and wife. In reality many brides feel apprehensive and overwhelmed by this moment. One lady I spoke to is actually wishing that the ceremony is over and done with as quickly as possible... “I'm looking forward to the party when the wedding is all over and we can just relax and enjoy it. I’m not so much looking forward to walking down the aisle and having everyone looking at me”.

I felt really sad when she told me this. I strongly feel that the wedding ceremony should be a proud moment to look back on and to enjoy moment. Women are particularly good at putting everybody else first in everyday life, always making sure everyone else is ok and often putting others needs before their own. When you are walking down the aisle allow yourself that short space of time to be yours, own it and know that you deserve to look and feel amazing from as you walk towards your future husband.

Please mention LOCAL WEDDING CONECTIONS when responding to adverts.

Here are some of my confidence tips for brides to help you to enjoy that special moment...

1) Take your time. As you are waiting to walk up the aisle take a few deep breathes and know that there is no rush, listen to the music and take in the atmosphere as you walk slowly towards your fiancé.

2) Keep your head up. It can feel daunting at first but remember that everyone at the ceremony is special to you, and is there to share your day. Smile at everyone whose eyes catch yours and know that they will most likely be bursting with happiness as they watch you make your entrance.

3) Visualize your day. In the run up to your wedding up it is normal to feel a whole range of emotions. You may be nervous, overwhelmed, excited to name a few. Take a few minutes to yourself away from the planning and have some quiet time. Close your eyes, relax and visualize how you want your day to go, you may choose to play the music from your wedding to make it more realistic. This can help you feel instantly calmer.

Do you find it hard to switch off and relax? I work with worried and apprehensive brides who would like a secret weapon to help them feel calm, confident and in control on their wedding day. I make them a bespoke personalized MP3 recording which enables them to focus on exactly how they would like to look and feel on their wedding day as well as providing welcome time out, relaxation – some of my clients have reported they are even sleeping better!

A bride to be I recently worked with loved her recording… “I can’t believe what a difference my recording has already made to the way I see myself. I have gained a new respect for my body and I can only think this is down to how personal the recording is to me. Cassie really listened to my body issues, hopes and fears and turned them into something positive that I can listen to whenever I feel the need for a pick me up to keep me feeling calm and on track to a better mind and body”.

If you would like to receive my FREE webinar ‘The Truth about Body Confidence’ or would like contact me to find out more about a bespoke wedding MP3 recording I would love to hear from you.

Are you getting married in the Summer? Will you be including the season as a theme for your day? We’re hoping the sun shines for everybody!

D MOO RD BOA

Here’s just a few ideas that we found on Pinterest.

mer

Sum

Check out more pictures on our “Summer Theme” board. http://gb.pinterest.com/localwedconnect/summer-theme/ A novel idea that guests might appreciate.

Keep your guests cool & refreshed on a hot summer day.

Great idea for hot, tired feet!

Instead of traditional flowers, why not have summer fruits on your wedding cake too. Plenty of fresh summer fruits will be available that could be used as table decorations that your guests can eat! For a hot summer’s day you might want to opt for a short style wedding dress like this one from Sassie Holford.

Soft curls in an ‘up do’ or let your hair down - either way these curls given a really romantic look.

How is this for a ‘one stop’ street for most of your wedding requirements? Cambridge Street in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire has quite a few shops within a short walk of each other. Starting at the west end of the street (where it meets Market Street) you will find Sweetbitz where Gemma can not only make you a stunning wedding cake, but also provide all of your decorations for your celebrations. A few doors down there is a new florist just opened - Rockabilly Rose, for all your floral arrangements and then there is Mel’s Perfect Planning also a wedding decoration business. At the other end of the street you will find Karen at Elegantly Hitched, the Prom & Bridal Shop and if all that shopping wears you out, please pop into Ria’s Rosy Lee Tea Room for an well deserved cuppa and a cake!

Local Wedding Connections are pleased to announced that we will be taking the Registraions at the Welcome Photography Wedding Fair in Wollaston on Sunday 6th July 2014, so please pop along and say “hello” to us. Rob Lunan of Welcome Photography is organising the event and will be raising money for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. There will be free goody-bags for the first 25 brides-tobe that pre-register to attend the event. You can find all the details & pre-register by checking out the Welcome Photography Facebook event: www.facebook.com/events/276612749180351/

Body We all want soft and radiant skin, especially on our wedding day, so why not treat yourself to a product to pamper yourself with after a relaxing hot bath or a refreshing shower?.

Butter

This time I have been trying and testing various brands of Body Butter. Lorraine (Editor).

Soap & Glory - The Righteous Butter RRP £10.50

300ml

A thick and creamy lotion that does actually soak into your skin quite quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling like some creams can do. The smell is pleasant and I usually don’t like fragranced products, but this one is very appealing.

Avon - Skin So Soft Silky Moisture Body Butter RRP £5.00

200ml

This product has a nice smell, that isn’t too overpowering. I used it in the evening, after a bath and my skin still felt soft & moisturised the next morning. I would definitely buy this again, especially as over half price compared to other brands.

The Body Shop - Coconut Body Butter RRP £13.00

200ml

This product had a nice, strong smell of coconut when I opened the tub, but the smell seemed to change after it had been on my skin for a while & I didn’t like it at all. It wasn’t a greasy product, but it still didn’t seem to rub in as well as other products. Not one for me I’m afraid.

Sanctuary Spa - Body Butter RRP £9.20

300ml

A really light body butter that absorbs really easily. It worked really well on the dry skin on the back of my hands and I could feel the difference still the next day. Very pleasant smell that lasts all day too.

Clinique - Deep Comfort Body Butter RRP £24.00

200ml

I loved the fact that this product doesn’t smell at all like other products, which can be a plus if you have sensitive skin and also means it won’t clash with your perfume either. Really easy to apply and leaves your skin feeling very soft. This was my favourite product out of all the ones I tested - the only thing that puts me off is the price!

Talking Point This is our discussion page and we want you to tell us what you think about the topics we write about. You may agree or you may think it’s outrageous - whatever your opinion, we want to hear it. We will print the best comments in the next issue of our magazine and on our Facebook page too.

The topic we want to hear your thoughts on this issue is…...

Themed Weddings There is a lot of planning that goes into any wedding, no matter how big or how small. Many brides have a particular colour scheme in mind when sourcing their bridesmaids dresses, table decorations and favours, but have you ever considered having a ‘theme’ to your wedding day? Would you want your day themed around your favourite film, such as ‘The Great Gatsby’, ’Antony and Cleopatra’ or maybe even a Disney ‘Frozen’ wedding? Now that would really excite any little flowergirl if you had them wear an Elsa dress. You may even both have a shared hobby that you want to incorporate into your day - maybe you both love the sea and opt for a beach theme or perhaps you are both sports fanatics and want to include your team or game into the celebrations. The time of year you get married can also play a big part in choosing a theme, as you might want to opt for a Christmas theme, if you are getting married in December or possibly decide upon a Halloween style to your wedding if your date falls around the end of October. But would you go as far as to have a theme where all your guests are asked to participate as well? I have seen Star Wars themes and even Superheroes (and Heroines), but would you consider this to be too tacky or tasteless for your one special day or perhaps you think the opposite and have friends and family that would really throw themselves into the spirit of things. Just think about your wedding photographs too. Would you be able to look back on them in twenty or thirty years time and still laugh and remember the day with fondness or would it make you cringe? What if your friends are willing to help out and create a really wild day, but then your parents or other family members don’t like the idea? Do you go ahead because after all, it is your day and you should really go with what you want or would it cause too many arguments.

If you have had a ‘themed’ wedding or are planning one, then we would love to hear you views. The best comments will be printed in the September issue of our magazine and also on our Facebook page.
