Lodi Lake Nature Area Needs Docents

Lodi Lake Nature Area Needs Docents!

Become a tour volunteer, it’s easy! Just follow these 6 steps:

1. Have a desire to share your interest and love for the Nature Area and its unique environment.

2. Fill out a short application (available at PRCS Guest Services, 230 W. Elm St.)

3. Shadow experienced Docents on the trails.

4. Pass a fingerprint and background check (paid for by Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services).

5. Receive a free Docent manual with information on the Nature Area.

6. Lead tours 2 to 3 times per month (fall and spring are the busy times).

The best part of becoming a Docent, is that it is not necessary to have a science background. The manual is packed with useful information on all the plants, animals and habitats in the Nature Area!

Within the 110-acre Lodi Lake Park lies the 58-acre Nature Area. Every year thousands of students and visitors tour the Nature Area with the help of a Lodi Lake Nature Area Docent.

The Docents support visitor's experiences by sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm of nature and wildlife. The Docents also use the tour opportunities to encourage students to become better stewards of their environment.

Now you can become one of these special, unique individuals!

Contact the Docent Coordinator at nsauerland@lodi.gov for more information.
