I work as photographer and graphic designer for TestBusters. I love music and I use to collect a song for each special moment.

I worked as a designer of city decorations. In daily life, I can’t live without Instagram. For me, it is the quickest way to collect the best memories of my life.

I studied at PoliMi for 3 years. I am more attached to the traditional analogical tools and also good at drawing, I like to collect memories in my Moleskine.

With my phone I take pictures of everything in order to create a digital album to share with everybody on web. I like to record details about everyday life.

I graduated in product design in London, then I moved in Milan to study. I am in love with different cultures and very curious in other’s experiences and opinions. I am always interested in following blogs.

I studied Product design at Tong university in China. I love technologic devices and I like to share my memories through social network.

We started our Design Thinking with a Mind Map tool. Mindmapping allows to develop a deeper understanding of the problems and. We created a diagram around a single word - the main topic - Ritual to which we associated ideas and words. The first challenge was processing all this information in a systematic way so that we can actually use it to generate better ideas. To make this we categorized the words to define facts, emotions, risks, opportunities and innovation. So we built a common “mind” about current topic. The second step was to combine all the words in three categories Facts, Adjectives and Opportunities.

VISION 01 After combining appropriate Facts, Adjectives and Opportunities into one group the first vision was created. The vision is social oriented. It is about making knowledge available for all. It’s a huge database that can be accessed by everyone, a sort of open sourcing cloud of sustainable information. Among the opportunities are personal development and enforced communications.

5

VISION 02 It is a technologically oriented vision. Nowadays social networks play an important role in our lives. In this vision we would like to find a way to preserve memories using human body’s concealed opportunities. We want to make access to private memories customized. It can be access through eye recording or fingerprints.

7

VISION 03 The vision is about transformation of memories from digital to physical and vice versa in order to share them with others. These memories can be personal or co-created, but in any case we often want to share them. It also can be a generation sharing, because in this time of technological boom even your grandma can have a digital diary with recipes.

DO YOU REMEMBER? GIGABYTES OF MEMORIES, MEGABYTES OF KNOWLEDGE AND KILOBYTES OF PERCEPTION THE FUTURE OF OUR MEMORIES: REVIVE, SHARE AND PRESERVE.

How many times do we spell “Do you remember”? The language, the culture, the country does not matter, because all of us have tones of memories. We always want to be sure to keep our memories safe, to be able to revive, preserve and share them. We cannot touch and sense the memory and the informations. It can only be transformed to the words, the numbers and the images. So our ritual life is always interpreted in our diaries, social blogs, photo albums and many other ways. We are living in a rapidly developing world and the information becomes a real treasure. The ones who own the information have an advantage. The information should be available for all of us, since we share the same heritage: we are all human beings. In

the near future, it would be a focal to create a social “space” where everyone could feel free to both access and deposit thousands of different memories, pictures and experiences that were previously stored entirely on printed files and physical albums. Accessibility in this new way, would stimulate the creation of thousands of different online pages focused on spreading culture and education among the majority of people, without limiting the information accessibility to their personal social condition or country of origin. “Enlightenment for all” vision it is just like that: we are committed on bringing education in places where, only few years ago, that could’ve been considered just impossible. Technology has changed dramatically over the last couple

of years. Science, medicine and technology have created the conditions for a tremendous expansion of thousands of different disciplines spanning nanotechnologies, smart materials and tech. applied to the human body. The human body has acquired a central position in the scientific and technological world, as it also contains an information and memory in it. We are still trying to cognize all the opportunities of human body and what we already know about it can become a key to exposure and concealment of memories and information that we keep inside us. Few years ago people could have never thought that memory can be shaped or stored. Nowadays we meet a lot of new technologies like social networks that make our memories apparent and visible not only for us but for others. Many social networks like Facebook, Instagram, etc. convert our memories in kilobytes. These kinds of appliances from day to day become available to all of us, even your grandma can have a digital diary of her recipes. And obviously this is not the end because we face with the race of invention of new applications and softwares, technologies and hardwares that could help us not to forget but to collect and multiply our memories and information.

“One of the best things I ever did was to teach a class of 160 thousand students”. Sebastian Thrun, Google X founder, is one of the pioneers of the distant education. His life changed when in 2011 when he decided to open his seminar on “Artificial Intelligence” at Stanford University to the whole world, for free, through the web. In few months with the collegue Peter Norvig, his video-lectures achieved an unbelievable number of students for a single university course. Today 23,000 of students from 190 countries attended the course, respecting the set deadline. This kind of education was called M.O.O.C, an acronym for Mas-

sive Open Online Course. Mooc is an online course with unlimited participation and it is freely accessible via web. In addition to traditional course materials such as videos, readings, recordings, problem sets, MOOC provides interactive user forums that help build a community made by students, professors and teacher assistants. Assistants are from all over the world and this has created the opportunitiy for members to act as correctors for other’s work submissions. MOOC represents a new frontier of education. Indeed recently a lot of new portals were born. Everybody, from every corner of the world, can attend a course of the Stanford University for free and with the possibility to interact with thousands of students with totally different backgrounds.

While online colleges can reduce education cost, it is not the solution for having good yet cheap education, particularly in those disciplines that require hands-on activities. Lacking of personal interaction, motivation and empathy, online learning may not suit every student. Different students vary in aptitude and capability, and few can really cope with independent study via cyberspace. Universities should find ways to minimize costs while offering students the opportunity to attend online classes and webinars aimed to offer further interdisciplinary education. One way is to strike an optimal arrangement where half of the time students can study online, off campus. Is this the future of Modern Universities and Colleges?

Information for All Programme is an intergovernmental programme, created in year 2000. Through the IFAP, Governments of the world have pledged to harness the new opportunities of information age to create equitable societies through better access to information. The last decade has witnessed technological development at a scale and speed unprecedented in the history of humankind. The challenge the world faces is to ensure equitable access for all people to seize these new opportunities. Information is fundamental for human development as well as it is crucial for its survival and sustainability. Moreover it often plays the role of pathway to preserve peace among different countries by making them aware of the economic and cultural opportunities available to them. In a world increasingly being shaped by digital technologies, the traditional guardian institutions (libraries, archives and museums) are challenged to keep pace with the rapid growth in information. They also face a new challenge: as technology advances the stability and lifespan of documents is considerably decreasing. If nothing is done, many important documents in electronic format will not survive or will become completely inaccessible within a very short time. The result will be a permanent loss to the collective memory of humankind. Digital preservation also contributes to at least two other IFAP priorities - information for development and information accessibility. Digital technologies open up access to information and knowledge in democratic dimensions that have never been experienced before.

Everyone has already heard about the “global digital divide” that is the global disparities between developed and developing countries in regards to access to computing and information resources such as internet and the opportunities derived from such tools. Some areas, especially rural ones, don’t have necessary infrastructures that the internet connection. Google has accepted this challenge. Project Loon is the solution proposed: a network of balloons traveling in the edge of space, “designed to connect people in rural and remote areas, help fill coverage gaps, and bring people back online after disasters.”. People can connect to the balloon network using a special antenna installed on their building. The signal bounces from balloons to the global Internet back on Earth. Each balloon can provide connection to a ground area about 40 km in diameter with speeds comparable to 3G. Taking advantage of winds of the stratosphere, balloon’s flotation is controlled by a system based on software algorithms. The project is now in a pilot test in New Zeland. Since June 2013 thirty balloons are providing internet to small groups of tester, but the entire world is now waiting for the next phase.

Wherever you are, you can know the news from all over the world just smoothly clicking the internet button. In this scenario “sharing” is the keyworld to make knowledge more accessible. Brainly.com is following this way, connecting students from different majors. Through questions and discussions, they can get ideas and knowledge from the whole world. The moment when we share our experiences with others becomes important and then more mea ingful because could help someone getting knowledge and developing himself. Everyone can contribute to building a collective memories database, a real source of experiences to draw from.

“heart things” by Simone

google glasses The new interaction with the environment

02

eyemotion

by Nazarena

Someone says that smart glasses will change our lives every day and is reductive speaking of “glasses”, because they transform the way as we usually interact with the world. Whit this glasses , people can send and receive information in real time just seeing them on the little screen positioned on the side, adact accordingly. Considering the fact that those glasses are obviously connect to the Internet, if, until now, we have considered them as always connected, this technology will exponentially increase dimensions and meaning of this connection between us, people and the environment. Some produc t s (as Google Glasses) are dedicated to everyday- life, but there are also smart glasses dedicated to smaller clusters of target, as Recon Instruments Inc is doing with Reconjet glases.

Google Glass could let you ‘heart’ things in real life according to a recently discovered patent filed by the search giant . The patent, filed in 2011 and flagged up by Engadget, would allow a HMD (a wearable Head Mounted Display mounted on Google Glasses) to recognise hand gestures made by the user and carry out actions in response to them. Making a heart shape with your hands in front of an object would trigger Glass to identify the content in front it and post it up to a social network of your choice with “an indication that the image is ‘liked.’” Another gesture would have users framing a view with two L shapes formed by their hands. This new way of interact with devices and technologies could potentially generate thousands of new different gestures to control those devices. Every person wearing a pari of Google Glasses could potentially sit comfortably at any cafè, grab a soy latte and make a heart shape to save and share the image instantly to Instagram or Twitter. The hand movement will capture the image inside the “heart” shape and the device will instantly understand that such imput is aimed to save the image in the internal memory before allowing the device owner to share it online. The hand movement is clearly described in the image below. It‘s difficult to say whether this Patent will ever be implemented in Glass but it would certainly be a clever way of side-stepping the gadget’s minimal hardware interface. However, watching people suspiciously ‘liking’ something with a heart gesture seems just too insufferable a norm to inflict on society. Google may have tarnished their ‘don’t be evil’ motto of late but surely this would be a step too far.

7 Over the last 50 years, technology has been developing at fastest phases thanks to the creation of new techniques, appliances, gadgets and other innovations. Science is trying to translate macro dimensions in micro (or nano) technologies, whose function could allow humans to experience a new potential in themselves. Cuttingedge products combining innovative technologies and human body potentials have been proposed by experts from South Korea. They have created a series of “smart” contact lenses with an embedded mini-computer. Researchers of UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) and other universities, have used the theory behind nanotechnology to ensure transparency and adequate flexibility to the Innovative Lens. The Lens proposed, whose potential is of one pixel only, could be further developed to create a wearable mini-display designed to be placed on the cornea of the eye.

8 A new electro-ocular implant has been created by Second Sigh Vision’s to allow blind patients to gradually re-gain their sight. The earliest trials in 2004 featured a 4×4 inch grid of electrodes to translate incoming light into electrical signals to be passed onto the brain. The new Argus Mach II (the name of this new model) is now up to 60 electrodes in a 10×6 grid. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but Second Sight thinks the 60 electrode version will allow the blind to read, and even 16 electrodes is enough for the blind to live dramatically improved lives. A patient has shared online the improvements she was able to gain from such a small device: Linda Morfoot, 64, living in Long Beach, California, has suffered from retinitis pigmentosa from her initial diagnosis at 21, and by 50 was almost entirely blind. She received an implant of the 4×4 version in 2004. She says the device is life changing and a complete success. She explained, “When they gave me the glasses it was just amazing. I can shoot baskets with my grandson, I can stay in the middle of the sidewalk. I can find the door to get out of a room, and I can see my granddaughter dancing across the stage. When we went to New York I could see the Statue of Liberty, how big it was. In Paris we went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night, and I could see all the city lights. I feel more connected to what’s around me.”

How do you observe an object? What is your focus when you stare at something? How do your nerves control the moment of your pupil?

How do you observe an object?

Mariano Sardón, former artist and inventor, has developed an installation to find how do people perceive the world. His project involves an eye tracker device connected to a screen that allows its user to capture the eye position and draw lines according to their movements. The newly invented eye-tracking device registers coordinates of the eyes and uses them to reconstruct a portrait image of their movement in an artistic way. As time passes, the face image is revealed by all the traces of sights together. At last, a video sequence was generated visualizing such a process. The resulting video shows what people really see of our faces and the way they build the portrait image in time. What is more, it reveals the connection of vision and memory, how people recurring the images in their mind. This connection gives a future insight of “Eyemotion”, which describes as one day you may record and visualise your own memory by eye movements. Imagining a device, which can automatically scan your eye trajectory and immediately transform into images, instead of words and phrases, it will help us manage our memory more objective and in real-time.

is the combination of these three technologies. High-quality scanning result for the professional and for the amateur.

We don’t remember days, we remember moments. And some of these moments can be captured in photos. Photos help a lot in storing and sharing memories. The memories can stay with us during the whole life, but photos not. That’s why we try to prolong the storage of our photos, we digitalize them. It is known that the most time-consuming process is to clean the image from debris, scratches and dirt that are in the original image or film. But to scan and correct poor-quality images is a tedious task, complex and difficult even for a professional. Unfortunately, it’s often impossible to have an opportunity to reshoot photos. For all these reasons, the Applied Science Fiction Inc. (ASF) committed to find a solution that would allow everyone to easily and quickly scan photos, negatives and slides of any quality, without the need for further editing. Yes, that’s right: “fix” scratched or spoilt negatives during the scan without your participation. The ASF Company was very correct because scanners are still the primary means for digitizing and image inputting into the computer. And the quality of the digital image depends on two factors: the quality of the original image and the capabilities of the scanner. Still, the overall trend is clear - the traditional picture doesn’t lose its relevance, but slowly turns into a digital format. Alternative “digital camera or SLR” gradually turns into another “digital camera or a traditional photo shooting plus scanning”. This technology by ASF is a major advancement for the digital future!

Proust.com is an online platform for families to share the stuff that really matters, a place to capture our life stories, thoughts, and aspirations and spark meaningful conversations about who we are. Signing in, Proust will send you everyday by e-mail a question about your life. Questions are divided into chapters of your life and you can add photos, videos, files, dates, and places. The questions you answer form a storybook telling the story of your life. Your personal page can be public or private and you can share it with your friends or, for example, your family, maybe tagging people in the stories you tell, to help build each others’ stories.

AFTER LIFE MEMORY FOR THE LOVED

DON’T FORGET THAT DAY!

What will you leave behind? Ifindie.net

by Shanshan

by Jing

We generally keep notes of our memories day by day, but what is going to happen to all our memories when we are going to die? If I Die is an app gives you the chance to record whatever you want your final message to be, and then to choose a friend to help distribute it after your death. That way, you have control over the last memory your loved ones hear from you, whether it’s a joke or some advice. Honestly, If I Die has shown that our generation is more related with the network in a perspective way, we even can not live without internet. The app has the good initiation that help to encourage and warm those who lose their loved, even though it seems that there exists some jokes about the death on the posters. The length of memory can be extended, even after the owners can not live any longer. For the one we love, they can have more memory and warm experience.

13

12 As an individual, everyone picks up the most important moments for memory. The inside emotion trigger decides the perspective of reviewing. Meanwhile, as a member of the social group, each social activity composed a part of our memory. That means the more fragmented memories we collect, the more perspectives and details we get about human history. So collective memory shows that groups are able to draw on the knowledge and experience of all individuals present. That day, September 11th in 2001, is definitely an unforgettable collective memory for New York citizens. And also it is a devastating day of the world. Thus, on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Sheryl Oring, an artist held an interactive public performance to posting the question: “What would you like the world to remember about 9/11?” After that he held a portable exhibition based on the performance just called “collective memory”. During the event, a group of ten typists, each dressed in black 60s-era office attire, set up a public typing maching in the Bryant Park behind the main branch of the New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan. Passersby were invited to share their thoughts about what they would like the world to remember about that day. Answers were typed verbatim on blank 4*6” index cards, with participants adding rubber-stamp messages to each card. After collecting all the massages, he published 10 boxes. Each box contains 315 digitally printed index cards and a DVD with a 7-minute video documenting the performances. Through these innovative means, the work attempts to personalize this historical event in a way that might not otherwise be possible. In the past 10 years, sufferers may already share the story with their family and friends amount of times. Some of them may even decide to keep silent. Because it is painful and cruel to recall every detail of the miserable moment. But expressed the most intense feeling through several sentences is a good way to select information. This strong feeling will pass to others when they reading the notes. This behaviour connected individual experience with the whole societ and made the collective memory shared by different generaions. That is exactly what we are pursuing the meaning of Grandma 3.0. As the final result, Oring choose a physical object

instead of a technical way to carry the emotions. It is true that touchable material can arouse more 12 Image source: resonance of human, however, it is limited by time http://mcbaprize. org/oring/ and space. In order to recur and share the memory from old generation, it is necessary to bring some data technichs in preservation. And combinaton of digital devices will creat more interesting possiblity of interaction.

We always try to convert our ritual life into timetables, calendars and schedules, which provide us a lot of functions, such us organizing our daily-life affairs, meetings, shop-lists, etc., but let’s not forget about emotions. This is a story about human’s ritual emotions put in the center. That implies that usually emotions are caused by different events in our life: whether it is a cupid’s arrow of love in your heart or just an experience of a new restaurant. We can create our own emotional memories and make them available to the public. That will help us in finding the persons with the common fields of interests through

the everyday notes, sketches and pictures, not paying attention to the avatar, age or social status. In this story we want to find the button to push and to trigger the mechanism of the movement of emotions and ritual experiences. Whatever the memories are, they always tend to evoke emotions: either positive or negative: happiness, sadness, pride, love, regret, felicity… We are humans, and often we are in need to re-feel again the best of the emotions connected to the particular events of our life.

2. OUTBURST AREA OF OPPORTUNITY: FUNCTION CENTRED - SELF - CREATED

Emotional outburst is a condition when a person suddenly feels extremely filled up by some emotions. Outburst might occur from a huge happening or even by a trivial event. When a person becomes too much happy, sad, furious or frightened by something and finds himself/herself unable to control these emotions, then this is considered to be an emotional outburst. At this time you feel flooded with emotions that you need to share with someone, but you can’t because it’s too personal. It is healthy to allow ourselves to step outside of our nice postures and exhibit the not-so-nice side of our personalities now and again. Having an outburst is nothing but negative – it’s something to expect in toddlers, who have very limited ways to express themselves. Learning to restrain yourself

and to retrain your approach to challenging situations is the mature way forward to a calmer life. You can start write it in your diary. It can be a love story with a broken heart and you want to express your not long ago experienced emotions. But after writing it, you feel like it got off your chest. It was just an outburst and then you understand you don’t need this handwritten feelings anymore. You rush to burn it, to get rid of it. But soon can regret you have done it. These feelings are known to most of us. But imagine we have a function to lock this written outburst in a functional “box”. You can access to this diary after a period of time, when you understand that everything you had written seems so silly that now you feel better.

3. TOUCH THE MEMORY AREA OF OPPORTUNITY: PHYSICAL - PUBLIC

Imagine that your own Moleskine notebook with your writings, pictures, sketches and other personal contents can get into other hands. What will you feel then? Maybe you will feel uncomfortable? Or will you feel normal? But imagine that you also hold Moleskine of an unknown person in your hands. It’s quite curious to find out something strange or something similar in other person’s notes. This cannot be compared with social networks or digital blogs, because this is a tangible thing, a tangible memory, you still can feel the smell of the coffee split on one of the pages, you can admire a beautiful calligraphy or try to distinguish weird handwriting, at the same time imagining the person who

might write it. This scenario is about making your physical memories tangible to others. It could be used and finished Moleskine with no more blank pages. You attached it to a Moleskine “wall” among the other people’s notes to share your experience using physical object – Moleskine notebook. Did you ever notice when your emotions get out-of-whack so does your physical sense of body, or when something physical happens so does something mentally? It is being scientifically tested and showing promising results that our emotions and physical sense are intertwined. Your mental health affects and physical health affects work together.

A STORY OF EMOTIONS MOTIVATIONS AND INNOVATIONS

“Emotion” is a subjective, conscious experience characterized primarily by physiological expressions, biological reactions and mental states. Research on emotion has increased significantly over the past two decades with many fields contributing including psychology, neuroscience, endocrinology, medicine, history, sociology and even computer science. Whether we share negative or positive emotions, as social beings we have a need to share our feelings and stories with those around us. The possible services in our scenario obviously should evoke emotions in people. We realize the need for the human collaboration to produce genuine emotions. During the Apple World Wide Developers

1. VENTING

Conference 2013 a lot was discussed about emotional innovation. CEO Oren Boiman says: “One of the core beliefs we have with Apple is that interaction with hardware and software should be emotional.” So our scenario provides a service oriented on emotional innovation. Because firstly, understanding emotional needs allows us to transcend the obvious and find truly breakthrough ideas. Secondly, understanding emotions allows assessing our new service concepts and fully understanding the underlying drivers of appeal, as well as identifying hidden barriers. Through that process good ideas can be made better and unintended consequences can be approved.

Sharing your emotions and life experiences is the hallmark of any good friendship or relationship.

CONCEPTS

1. CONNECTING PEOPLE The essential of the concept is to maximize the possibility of enhancing and stimulating proactive human relationships through the accessibility to an online platform designed by Molsekine. This new Moleskine Service allows each user to deposit in various different locations around the city pre-given cards with their memories written on it. Those detachable cards are placed at the end of ready to sell Moleskine notebooks. The user is stimulated to take part in this initiative and ‘play’ the game of socialization in this new and engaging way. A Moleskine’s worker then collects those memories from definite “collective boxes” in the city and digitalizes

2. MEETING POINT them making available in the previously cited online platform for memories. By doing this it will become publicly available for the majority of people online and will eventually allow people to identify matches between other ‘players’ of this game. A whole world of new connections could therefore arise from this new and innovative platform. Among the most promising and interesting ones we identified: new friendship connections, undefined and attractive collaborations between people of different areas of expertise, especially in the world of start-ups and small student societies and initiatives and, why not, love stories!

It’s a concept that strives to improve human connections in places where generally it is not intended to get to know someone in depth. The places we identified are Metro Stations, Airport Terminals, Post Offices, ect. All of these places share a sad reputation of being non-profitable to proactive and happy human relationships. The main idea of our concept is how to change these environments in ‘friendly’ places where maybe it can become possible to meet someone really interesting, and at the same time, do not lose the possibility to use these spaces to have fun as well. Previously made memories, in a whole new variety of different ways, forms,

shapes, ect., are deposited in predesigned collective “boxes”. This concept allows people to instantly feel better in these environments by knowing that everything that is deposited in such places will eventually be accessed by someone online. Moleskine will therefore provide a spark of hope for human relationships even in dark and generally polluted Metro Stations.

37

3. THE TREE HOUSE The house on a tree is a particular “club” for a group of best friends, who generally share the same experience and emotions during their friendship. They share the house on a tree. But in this concept that house is intended to be a common Moleskine “diary”, filled with common past memories, experiences, and feedbacks of their friendship. The process of collecting different postcards, lucky tickets, everything that denotes to ritual memories, discussing future plans for life and just having fun eventually will help the friendship to improve and memories to be safe. After life paths start to diverge in different directions of destiny the common memories should

be in a good shelter. And here Moleskine’s team will ensure that such memories will be preserved in their original form without the risk of being destroyed. In this way friends’ team chooses when it is the best time to reaccess such memories and re-vive the beauty of past-experiences shared together with the other group members. Ideally this magical treasure of memories should not be accessed before a couple of years to allow the time to delete them from the brain memory.

39

THE CONCEPT PIXEL The concept of “Pixel” is made up by to concepts: “Connecting People” and “Meeting Point”. As our scenario goes out from an emotional oriented field of opportunity, we decided to choose a place that actually cannot cause definite emotions connected to this place. “If a place can be defined as relational, historical and concerned with identity, then a space which cannot be defined as relational, or historical, or concerned with identity will be a non-place.” Non-places are designed in a way to enhance our sense of both atomization and anonymity. Airport is an appropriate example of a nonplace which main function is to connect to destinations from A to B. After researching several airports we found out interesting statistics. During September, 2013 the percentage of ontime flights was 83,83%, the rest 16,17% were delayed flights. (RITA, U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT). In this cases staying in non-places for an unplanned quantity of time can evoke stress, tiredness, dullness and other negative emotions. This causes a huge number of complaints, particularly 1,008 complaints in September, 2013. Among them the first place take delays and cancellations, after them baggage problems, customer service, refunds, etc. Brandon Wade, Founder & CEO of MissTravel.com, is a frequent flyer, a Delta - Diamond Medallion Member, an American Airlines – Executive Platinum Elite Member and a United Airlines - 1K Member. “In order to ease frustration, travelers need to be

distracted and entertained while waiting,” remarked Mr. Wade. And here comes our emotional-oriented concept! In this concept appearance relates to the perception element of the cultural determinants. A huge screen with uploaded tagged photos of different people of diverse cultures is the main touchpoint for perception. It can be not long ago taken pictures in a foreign country, sort of a “fresh” memory of a flight. With this screen we want to provide two types of experience: short and longlasting. Short is to perceive the screen passing by. And long-lasting is to become a part of it. Using you mobile devices you can upload your own photos and then see it on the screen. You may also be interested in some pictures reminding you of your culture and using this touch screen you can find some info about that person, and consequently become a part of Moleskine community, sharing your own memories with others. From this time a non-place becomes a place of emotions. The construction of the screen is temporary and movable. It can be transported to another non-place, for example, a train station. But in this case the main topic should be changed, because people in a train station constitute another community, even if they are unknown to each other, but they are united by a track from A to B, and very often by free time waiting for delayed train or plane. 41

“If a place can be defined as relational, historical and concerned with identity, then a space which cannot be defined as relational, or historical, or concerned with identity will be a non-place.” It depends on the perspective of the person if it is a non-place or not. Non-places are designed in a way to enhance our sense of both atomization and anonymity.

Non Places Introduction to an anthropology of supermodernity

An ever-increasing proportion of our life is spent in supermarkets, airports, hotels, motorways, metro stations or in front on mobile devices screens and TV’s. Marc Augè, was among one of the first people to describe them a brief description in his book titled “Non Places, introduction to an anthropology of super modernity” (Augè, 2008). He defines such places as physical entities where a non particular ‘identity’ prerogative is evinced. In those places people intersect without establishing any form of relationships. The neologism “non-place”(which come from ‘non lieu’ in French) defines two complementary yet different places: the first one, that are the spaces built generally built for trans-

Shopping malls portation purposes (such as transport, traffic, commerce and free time). The second one represents the relationship that gets established between individuals the environment itself. Among the main disadvantages of spending some time in one of those places could be described as the fact that travellers and whoever often feel lost and abandoned in the anonymity of such places itself. Augè goes further to map the distinction between a place, encrusted, with historical monuments and creative of social life, and non-place, to which individuals are converted in a uniform manner without no social or organizational social life.

Experiencing Connective Memory Screen will make people more relaxed and feel familiar in non places. This service can distract people from airport problems, like delays or long waiting in transit zone. This will reduce the number of complaints in airports. This what is concerned to functional side. Concerning emotions this service can become a good experience to find new relations with new people using online community. The fact that it is a temporary construction and can

be moved to different places increases the opportunity of being known by more people. That is a chain reaction. We can say that this concepts satisfies our chosen criteria. The Screen is emotion centered, the user can download his own pictures and also become a community and this makes it self-created and co-created at the same time. We believe that this concept will evoke interest in people to start their on story telling. And Moleskine can become a starting point. 53
