AMBULATORY CARE SERVICES The first step of eye examination is to listen to the patient’s complaints. Depending on the type of complaint, a routine eye examination starts with the outer part, the eyelids and the eyes’ direction of vision are checked. The refraction error is measured with the help of autorefractometer and retinoscope. Visual acuities of both eyes with and without eyeglasses are identified. Eyelashes, conjunctiva, cornea and other front segment elements of the eye are examined in detail. Then eye pressure is measured. In addition to these measurements, color blindness, strabismus and neuroophtalmological examinations are carried out with great care in our hospital.

MULTIFOCAL IOL Those older than 40 who have myopia or hypermetropia problems will no longer need to use eyeglasses. The multifocal intraocular lenses are a very important technological advancement for farsighted or nearsighted patients. These lenses enable patients to carry out their daily activities easily. The new generation intraocular lenses used in our hospital are placed by a short operation. The very same steps are applied in both standard cataract operations and multifocal lens operations.
In cataract operations, the natural intraocular lens is replaced by a lens that is compatible with the interior structure of the eye and that offers better vision whereas in this surgery, the lens replaced offers solutions both for farsightedness and nearsightedness. The lens placed by an operation stays inside life long, in other words, it is not a lens removed and worn again and again like contact lenses.

PHAKIC IMPLANTATION Not every eye is suitable for refractive laser treatments such as LASIK or it could be insufficient for such a treatment. Especially thin corneas or high degrees limit the LASIK surgery. It is estimated that there are 90 million people around the world who are not suitable for a laser treatment with LASIK due to high degree of myopia.
The patient group is generally adults and it is most widely used by the age group of 50-55 whereas phakic lens implantation is preferred generally under the age of 45. In this technique, the natural lens is left in its original place (the meaning of phakic is natural lens) and the second lens is placed inside the intraocular section (in the anterior or posterior chamber). Leaving the natural lens as it is necessary for close eye harmonization.
There is the option of transparent lens replacement (refractive lens replacement, clear lens exchange, transparent lens extraction) or phakic lens implantation to minimize the need for eyeglasses or lenses or to eliminate such a need totally.
The criteria for phakic lens replacement are as follows: patients should be older than 21, there should be sufficient anterior chamber depth, there should be cornea endothelial and patients should not be suffering from iris anomalies or cataract.
It is not applied during pregnancy or nursing. This operation is performed upon the request of patients who do not want to wear eyeglasses or lenses, who are suitable for refractive laser surgeries such as LASIK and whose functional and professional requirements are appropriate. Phakic lenses differ based on the intraocular placement sections. These are sulkus-implanted posterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses, iris-fixated anterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses and angle-supported anterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses.
KERATOCONUS Keratoconus is the disease of the transparent section (cornea) forming the front part of the eye. This disease causes the cornea to get sharper and thinner. It generally starts at adolescence and can progress until 40s. Cornea is a very important part of the eye. The light enters into the eye through the cornea and the beams refract here thanks to the cornea enabling us to see clearly. In keratoconus, the shape of the cornea changes so there is visual disorder.
TREATMENT METHODS CROSSLINKING TREATMENT :
RINGS INSIDE THE CORNEA :
The crosslinking operation is done by using UVA light and riboflavine to penetrate into the collagen molecules of the cornea to stop the progress of the disease.
These rings are unnoticeable from outside and are not felt like contact lenses. As these rings are not placed inside the visual cortex, they do not have a negative impact influencing vision. Intacs is placed inside the cornea tissue so as to eliminate swelling or sharpness. They could stay inside the eye lifelong without causing any problems.

LASER TREATMENTS I LASIK WHAT'S ILASIK
ADVANTAGES OF ILASIK
EXCIMER LASER
ILasik is a combination of today’s innovative laser technology INTRALASE and a therapy specially adapted to the patient (Advanced Custom Vue TM). ILasik is a personalized therapy adapted to the quality of the patient’s eyesight .
• Visual acuity with ILASİK treatment is very high • ILASIK is the result of the technological development of the last decade • ILASİK is a Lasik technology with encompasses the best of the latest technological developments • ILASIK is a proven technology with FDA approval • ILASİK is a personalized treatment based on the patient’s eye structure and visual capacity • It allows the use of laser on a thin cornea where regular Lasik treatment is not possible • It minimizes flap complications • It allows faster recovery • It allows the preparation of flaps in required thickness and dimensions • It ensures a better vision thanks to the Wavefront treatment
LASIK, which is a process used extensively all over the world for the correction of myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism, is an abbreviation made up from the initial letters of the words Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis. In the LASIK process, a thin layer (flap) from the cornea, which is the transparent foremost part of the eye, is lifted through the use of a tool called microkeratome or with the help of femtosecond laser, and excimer laser is applied to the underlying layer in order to correct the defect of the eye.
It is a computer controlled system which does not allow any mechanical intrusion. The corneal incision necessary for lasik is performed precisely by laser. Intra Lasik allows the surgeon to have maximum control and optimum results. All complications due to the use of a lancet are avoided thanks to laser technology. It is possible to make an incision at the cornea with femtosecond laser under computer control with Intralase and prepare the flap accordingly. This method prevents all complications related to the use of a lancet. İntralase provides safe treatment and the possibility of regulating the thickness of the flap. This high technology which represents last decade’s most important development in the field of refractive surgery, allows to perform a safe operation on many eyes which could not previously be operated with the classical LASİK system

WHY ILASIK? A clearer vision, personalized flaps (intralase),, personally adapted treatment (Wavefront), high visual acuity for people like astronauts and war pilots working under difficult conditions in professions requiring perfect eyesight. .
WAVEFRONT TREATMENT In the standard laser therapy, the laser correction is made solely by taking into consideration the prescription of the patient’s eye-glasses, In the wavefront therapy however, the wavefront apparatus measures in detail the cornea layer as well as the light diffusion in the lens and nerves of the eye, and prepares a therapy scheme according to these measurements. The therapy scheme calculated in the wavefront apparatus is then transmitted to the laser apparatus, thus obtaining a laser therapy adapted to the individual requirements of the patient. Thus, patients having undergone a laser therapy with the wavefront system will have a better quality of sight compared to the standard laser therapy, as well as lesser problems with night vision.
