The Sensory Space

Sensory story time

A place for all children to explore and play at Marsden Library. Learn through technology, touch, sight, sound and movement.

A session for all children aged 10 and under that aims to meet participants’ sensory needs in a small group setting.

The space features play-based equipment including a bubble tube, touch screen, tablets and wall toys. Kits for families and groups to use with children are available including: social and emotions; tactile; fine coordination; auditory and visual. The Sensory Space was funded by a Vision 2017 State Library of Queensland grant and Logan City Council.

Cultural Nyeumba-Meta Nyeumba-Meta is a space and collection at Logan Central Library that aims to foster respect for Australian Indigenous cultures. The space includes a yarning circle and artwork, and it has regular events throughout the year. Nyeumba-Meta was named to reflect the Yugambeh and Torres Strait Islander languages. Nyeumba in Yugambeh language means “teaching or learning” while Meta in Eastern Torres Strait Islander language means “house”. Want to know what is in the collection? Visit Mayes Cottage Centenary of Armistice commemoration Mayes Cottage will wind the clock back to 1918 to mark the end of the Great War. Poppies will be placed for every soldier and nurse who enlisted in the Logan district. Hear the stories of those who did not return. Visit Mayes Cottage House Museum to see what life was like over a hundred years ago. Mayes Cottage, and what remains of the slab hut that stands outside, is almost exactly as it was when it was built, in 1887.
