The 2nd Annual

Asia Eco Green Building Congress 2010 BUILD

GREEN, WE SHAPE A BETTER WORLD

May 12th-14th, 2010

Renaissance Hotel Pudong Shanghai

Workshop A: Integrative Approach to Successful LEED Projects -The key to achieve Green Building DNA (May 12th 0900-1200)

- President/CEO/MD/Principal

Workshop Facilitator: Steven Khouw, LEED AP, CEO Principal, DNA Green Design Stan J. French, CEO, Diamond Wood China

- Vice President/Executive Director

Steve is a LEED AP. He represents DNA Green Design, a consulting practice in the business of corporate interior space planning, design and construction within the Asia Pacific theatre on behalf of a portfolio of key corporate accounts. As a space strategist and passionate sustainable designer, he was instrumental in transforming a number of corporate workscapes, facilitating best work practices resulting in enhanced office productivity and sustainable space. Since the late 90's and before green design is popularized by global concern for the environment, he was already a pioneer in practicing sustainable design within an Asian context despite inadequate and often conflicting environmental standards & legislations. Steve previous roles were consulting in operations management, an engineer and reformed coal miner.

- Marketing Director

Workshop B: Urban Planning for Sustainability: Where do we go from here? (May 12th 1400-1700) With major developments and unprecedented urban growth in place, we should be looking at the bigger picture, instead of looking at buildings Delivering sustainable developments is now not an option, but it is becoming an essential requirement the world over. This recognises not only the environmental imperative for making better use of finite resources and reducing carbon emissions, but that the correct approach to sustainability reduces development and whole life costs. Defining the impact of urban development and building a “Sustainable City” requires the establishment of a standard of measurement that goes beyond existing rating systems for “green buildings”. This interactive workshop will explore the following: - Establish the need for sustainable urban planning solutions based on references to urbanization trends and climate change - Review existing best practice for delivering urban planning solutions - Identify key criteria for establishing sustainability in urban planning and propose a universal framework for assessment - Interactive discussion of what the city of the future may look like and how to make it work Workshop Facilitator: Hendrik Rosenthal, Sustainability Manager, Hyder Consulting Ltd.
