FALL 2015

THE FLOWER SHOP Getting paid to do something we love is key in life, but when we also get to do that alongside people we truly dig… highest achievement! Allow us to introduce to you the backbone of the vendor operations here at Lomas! The Flower Shop Encinitas is responsible for all of the floral centerpieces included in our packages. Clients get the privilege of meeting with the genius and grace that is Amy Samuel to design their custom florals. From the most traditional to the insanely out of the box, she can make your wedding vision a reality. Amy and her super rad team at The Flower Shop have been making magic at Lomas as our in house florist for 3 years, and the response has been phenomenal. All the linens and fancy chairs would seem dull if they were not topped off with the show stopping florals of this collaborative company. For more photos of the amazing work of The Flower Shop, please check out our Pinterest and Facebook accounts that are full of their designs!

CREATE AN INSPIRATION BOARD MARIA + ROMYR STELLA + MICHAEL LIZA + TOM ANDREICE + TIM BRIAN + LINDSAY HOLLY + IVAN POLA + BRENDAN ASHLEY + MARK KRISTINA + SEAN VICKI + ROB BELINDA + ANDREW

With the introduction of applications like Pinterest, it is easier than ever to become distracted by multiple themes, color palates, favors, etc. You want to settle on something without regret, but they make it impossible by constantly throwing something new and shiny at your feed. One way to ensure that all of the ideas you have make sense together is to create an inspiration board. This can be one document or even giant poster that you attach all of your photo inspiration to. Once you see your country vases next to the ultra-modern florals and the dolphin bottle openers you like for favors, you may save yourself and edit the look. This will keep you on task and hopefully prevent you from further pinning and wedding envy.

We have all been either a bridesmaid or a groomsmen in a wedding. We spend copious amounts of money to be at the side of our bestest of friends, and in return we are usually given something like matching jewelry (to go with the dress we won’t wear again) or maybe a beer mug with our name on it to collect dust in our cabinet. This month’s trend is about finding alternative ways to show your pals that you care. For the ladies, getting ready in beautiful rompers or robes has been popular. Think about possibly getting them a clutch for the wedding day filled with things they love or may need on the day of. Some other options include sunglasses, tote bags or even paying to have their hair and makeup taken care of for the day to alleviate some of the expense of assisting with your big day! For the gentleman, consider a personalized leather toiletry case, humidor or even a glass topped watch case. Whatever it is that you choose, considering the friends you are getting it for is paramount. Choose as carefully as you chose them.

Do you and your friends Uber? If you do, then have we’ve got a trick for you! Most weddings come complete with their own hashtag, a little something to make sure you brand your event and gather photos from your guest’s social media. If you want to take this a step further, add your personal or wedding Uber code under that hashtag to gather Uber credit. If your guests don’t already Uber, this will ensure that they get home safe and you wake up the day after your wedding with multiple free rides. You’re welcome!

JENNICA + DAVE 7.25.15 Seriously… check them out on the cover. If these two are not models, they should be! Jennica and Dave Smith graced us with their lovely wedding on July 25th, 2015. I knew Jennica and I were going to be a good fit from the moment we had our site tour and the rest is history. Please enjoy the sunflower extravaganza that is the Norby Smith Wedding.

THE ROAD TO THE RING: The couple met in high school at Valhalla in 2005 through a group of friends. They hung out as friends until the relationship seemed inevitable. Although they didn’t attend prom together, half way through the night, they realized they needed to be together. The proposal took place on October 5th 2014 during a vacation they took to Whistler, BC, Canada. “It was our first vacation together in 3 years. The first day of our trip, we booked a rock climbing tour with a guided outfitter. After 3 hours of climbing and 1500 vertical feet, we reached the top of the Whistler Mountain. David asked me over to the corner of the mountain for a picture, which turned into him pulling the ring out of his pocket. After a few cherished words he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Our guide was able to capture the moment with some breathtaking photos. David had informed our guide weeks before about the proposal, and he brought a bottle of champagne in his backpack for the celebration. The vacation was off to a great start!”

THE DETAILS: The bride describes her theme as Country Vintage. Sunflowers and succulents were dripping from every aspect of the day from the matching sunflower bridesmaids robes to the oversized wedding arch also adorned with a white chandelier. The bridesmaids dresses , purchased from Prevue Formal and Bridal, were a gorgeous floor length navy which added to the drama of the look. Tour of Elegance is responsible for the amazing custom dress that Jennica rocked down the aisle, complimented by the talents of Makeup By Shelby and Aubrey Philpot as the glam squad. The chalkboard cake was created by the team Sweet Cheeks Baking Company who captured the theme expertly along with The Flower Shop who finished off the look with the amazing floral details…sunflowers everywhere! One of the more special details was the traditional Danish toast of liquor called Akvavit . It is no longer imported in the United States, so the bride’s uncle from Sweden was kind enough to bring it along and keep their family tradition alive. There to capture all of these moments was talented husband and wife team of Jeff + Amber Photography. They had some beautiful subjects and details to work with but wow, can they shoot! “You think about your wedding day as an event that will transform your life. For me, that moment happened when I saw my bride walking down the aisle. Nothing can prepare you for that moment. It captures you, surrounds you and reminds you that she is the one for you.” - Dave Smith Thank you to Jennica and Dave for sharing your big day with us here at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!

In Babylon 4,000 years ago it was common practice for a brides father to supply his son-in-law with all the Mead he could drink for an entire month after the wedding. Mead is a honey wine, and because Babylon’s calendar was lunar based, this period was dubbed the "honey month" or what we know today as the honeymoon! -Dress Me Bridal, February 16, 2012.
