Welcome
Guy Salter, Chairman‘Putting making centre stage in the world’s creative capital.’ That was our aspiration when The King & Queen launched the first London Craft Week in 2015. Ten years on, we still aim to bring alive the excitement, richness and depth of exceptional craftsmanship from around the UK and the world. Partly by ensuring it’s the talk of the town for seven days but mostly by doubling down on your desire to meet the creators, especially those who are less well known but world class. To see for yourself how skills, materials and inspiration separate great from good.
What has changed is the sheer numbers of you that take part and our scale, variety and reach, not just across more parts of the city but how many international makers and visitors join us. When we started, craft was somewhat of a poor relation compared to art, fashion or design. This is beginning to shift, for example with burgeoning collectors or savvy consumers wanting to know how and where something is made. Or who want to commission, rather than buy off the shelf. Increasingly, as we all understand more about mental health, we appreciate the healing power of creating something.
But there’s still much to be done. Artists, even those with great reputations, often struggle to make a living. Making can be lonely and isolating. Not nearly enough young people are aware of or know how to enter our sector. Making is still not as fashionable and desirable as painting or designing. So we feel like we have only just begun. Hopefully this year’s programme reflects that energy and continued sense of wonder and discovery.
Have a wonderful time. A big thank you for participating so enthusiastically and to our tiny, super-dedicated team, our Founding Partner, the Richemont Group, who’ve supported us since the start, and to the talented makers who’ve been at the heart of LCW for the last ten years.

Montblanc
Synonymous with excellence in craftsmanship and design, Montblanc has been pushing the boundaries of innovation ever since the Maison first revolutionized the culture of writing in 1906.
Ingenuity and imagination continue to be driving forces for the Maison today as it advances its expression of fine craftsmanship across product categories: writing instruments, watches, leather goods, new technologies and accessories.
Reflecting upon its ongoing mission to create fine lifetime companions born from bold ideas and expertly crafted through the skills of the Maison’s artisans, the iconic Montblanc Emblem has become the ultimate seal of performance, quality and an expression of sophisticated style.
This 2024, Montblanc celebrates the 100th anniversary of one of its icons, the Meisterstück writing instrument. The Meisterstück was first introduced in 1924, and through a century of continuous use and popularity, the Meisterstück has been perfected and has become recognised as a writing icon.
This writing instrument has left an indelible mark on mankind, wielded by many influential individuals who shaped our collective culture and history, with the iconic writing instrument appearing at key historical moments and throughout pop culture.
The 100th anniversary of the Meisterstück further cements Montblanc’s position as a master of luxury craftsmanship and a creator of products that transcend their purpose, from utilitarian artifacts to icons of their own.
To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Montblanc has returned to its origins to create the Meisterstück The Origin Collection. Visit the Montblanc Boutique to find out more.

Serapian
In the world of leather goods, the name Serapian is synonymous with excellence in craftsmanship and elegant Milanese design. The Maison was founded in 1928 by Stefano Serapian and since then, Serapian’s creations for both men and women have attracted a loyal following of discerning connoisseurs. Entirely crafted in Italy from the most noble leathers and materials, Serapian stands out with its iconic Mosaico craft, refined tonal palette and soft geometric shapes.
When Stefano Serapian brought Mosaico to life in 1947, he created a specialty so unique that it would become one of the Maison’s hallmarks. Delicate strips of lamb nappa are meticulously handwoven together by Serapian skilled artisans creating a geometric, hypnotic effect somewhere between Byzantine mosaics and Japanese origami. Each Mosaico creation is enriched with an inside leather tag singed with the name of the Artisan who created it. Balancing tradition and innovation, Serapian remains one of the few Maisons to offer a complete bespoke service. The Bespoke Atelier is housed inside Villa Mozart, a beautiful Art Deco landmark in the heart of Milan and the experience is guided by Giovanni Nodari Serapian, a third-generation family member. Serapian over time has collected one of the largest collections of Italian leathers in the world with which clients are invited to endless personalisation.

Pimlico Road
A fraternity of world-class craftspeople, artisans, curators and makers, the Pimlico Road Design District is a hub of inspiring design and best-in-class interiors. From sculptors to woodworkers, embroidery to antiques, textiles to crystals, it’s a melting pot and meeting place for creativity.
Located in Belgravia and a short walk from Chelsea, Victoria and Knightsbridge, Pimlico Road has long been an esoteric destination to discover brands who cater for the discerning designer and collector. The area is unique in that not only will you find the eponymous brands of world-renowned designers on the street, but also the designers themselves — resulting in a creative neighbourhood with a village feel, where every shop window tells a different story.
Since 2016, the Pimlico Road Series has hosted inspiring talks and panels, interactive workshops and fascinating demonstrations for London Craft Week. This year, discover the world of textile craft as Bonadea welcomes artist Chiara Grifantini to the store, shop Goldfinger’s sustainably crafted wood furniture in Edward Bulmer Natural Paint, or experience an exhibition championing the work of artisans in Cox London. Gain insights into the traditional techniques of paper cord weaving at Carl Hansen & Søn or view the newly launched Clochette Light at Ochre, plus much more.

Following the successful three phases of its sculpture trail, Chelsea Barracks is pleased to add to its art programme with the inaugural edition of ‘Modern Masters’, a free outdoor programme of contemporary art curated by public art and cultural placemaking agency New Public, in partnership with London Craft Week. This first edition showcases a selection of works by renowned American artist Dale Chihuly. Thoughtfully placed throughout Chelsea Barracks in Belgravia, the outdoor programme welcomes the public to explore art amongst its architecture and public grounds, embracing the creativity and community of the development.
Across his 60-year career, artist Dale Chihuly has used glass to explore the way form interacts with light and space, creating installations in harmonious dialogue with the environments in which they are sited, and inspiring new perceptions of space. His latest selection of works features four installations at Chelsea Barracks, a notable new addition in a line of other major Chihuly exhibitions and sitings in London, including the 1999 ‘V&A Chandelier’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the acclaimed 2019 exhibition ’Chihuly at Kew’ and others.
REEDS
Chihuly Reeds made their debut during the groundbreaking 1995–96 Chihuly Over Venice project. Because the long, tubular forms contrast with organic, irregular shapes found in nature, Chihuly frequently uses them in conservatory or botanical garden exhibitions, emphasizing contrasts and creating complex compositions. This work features a novel colourway for the series— hues of purple and magenta—with the recurring element of a natural wood base. Visitors entering Chelsea Barracks from the Pimlico Road entrance will be welcomed by this piece, Amethyst Reeds, within the water feature of Whistler Square.
TOWERS
A natural evolution of Chandeliers, Chihuly’s Towers are soaring, freestanding sculptures created to interact with their surroundings. These ambitious architectural installations have been featured in exhibitions in historic cities, museums, and botanical gardens around the world. The Electric Yellow and Deep Coral Tower in particular was previously sited at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore in 2021, and Chihuly at Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina in 2018. This will now be found in the Mulberry Square garden at Chelsea Barracks, standing tall amongst the greenery.

The Austrian Embassy is opening its doors for a new Meisterstrasse in Residence exhibition and series of events at 18 Belgrave Square. A curated showcase of craftsmanship, this year’s mission statement is ‘building bridges between East and West’.
Traditional manufacturers and innovative craft businesses from Austria welcome master craftspeople from Germany, the UK, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia, including H.M. Queen Azizah’s Pahang Weave foundation.
Explore a dazzling array of objects, including mouth-blown glass, crystal chandeliers, perfumes, handmade tiles, wooden tables, table linen, hats and headdresses, traditional porcelain and ceramics, handmade caskets, cushions, handprinted and handwoven fabrics, jewellery and more. The curation is divided into three themes: interior design and architecture; sustainable living; and Austrian hospitality and crafts.
The ‘guest of honour’ for 2024 is Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut region, this year’s European Capital of Culture. Five remarkable makers from the area introduce their craft traditions as well as their approaches to a new future of craftsmanship. The exhibition opening event on Tuesday 14 May is also dedicated to Salzkammergut, providing entertaining glimpses into one of the most famous rural areas in Austria.

Following the success of its inaugural year, Park Royal Design District is proud to be back again in 2024. Visitors can explore a diverse range of disciplines in this emerging creative zone, ranging from ancient crafts to cutting-edge technology.
This year, the three-day event includes a vibrant weekend market selling handmade wares from a wide array of craftspeople and makers — from ceramics to embroidery, bookbinding, screen printing and more. A series of workshops at the newly kitted-out Park Royal Open Workshop (POW) allows visitors the chance to test out the machinery available and get stuck into making their own objects, while the ‘Artisanal Intelligence’ exhibition explores the intersection of new technologies and AI, with handmade low-tech craft techniques.
Levant Book Café showcases its impressive collection of traditional Syrian and Lebanese art and crafts including tiles, embroidery, glassware, intricate marquetry and more. This hidden gem in Park Royal’s food scene is renowned for owner Sameh’s handmade Syrian ‘booza’, a unique method of making ice cream that stretches back generations — so don’t miss out on this taste of Damascus over the weekend.

The Chinese believe that life grows out of stone. What unique traditions do these time-travelling, silent stones tell us?
‘The Story of Stones’ begins in Quanzhou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southeast China. As the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, this ancient city was born seaward and closely connected to the ocean, fostering a unique maritime culture and local craft traditions. During the Song and Yuan dynasties, Quanzhou was the busiest port in the world and the centre of maritime trade in China.
‘The Story of Stones’ exhibition showcases Quanzhou’s extraordinary craft traditions and today’s most exciting craftspeople. It explores the city’s legacy and the possibilities of sustainable living in the future through the lens of materials, craftsmanship, daily life and sustainable design.

Reception
13 May, 1–5pm
The Cultural Section, Chinese Embassy in the UK, Ping An presents ‘Chinese Design: Harmony in Diversity’, an exhibition showcasing traditional Chinese crafts alongside innovative modern designs. The exhibition presents the two important Chinese principles of ‘harmony’ and ‘elegance’ to a London audience, with themes including ‘Harmony of Textiles’ and ‘Elegance of Porcelain’. These sections aim to depict the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, as well as among individuals, expressing the essence of Chinese culture.
The opening ceremony for the exhibition includes a curatorled tour and a charity sale of handcrafted goods from the ‘Mama’s Needlework’ project. This public welfare project, initiated by Ping An and The Art and Design Press Co., Ltd, was launched in August 2020 in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of China. Dedicated to poverty alleviation and social welfare, the project promotes the employment of poor women while activating national intangible cultural heritage. Secondhand clothes are redesigned with traditional elements for sale, alongside various other handcrafted products.

Thank You
London Craft Week is extremely grateful for the continuing support of its sponsors and partners without whom the festival would not be possible.
From the outset, the foresight, shared values and generosity of Founding Partner, the Richemont Group, has been critical to London Craft Week’s success and we offer them sincere thanks.
Our Series Sponsors are associated with key London locations, supporting their tenants (our programme partners) and the festival as a whole and we would like to thank Grosvenor through its Pimlico Road Series for their continuing support.
The Mills Fabrica returns for the fourth year as our Innovation Partner, focusing on sustainability, material innovation and tech-style start-ups, while Park Royal Design District, home to a growing community of creatives drawing inspiration from their industrial neighbours, joins the festival as a sponsor for the second year.
Chelsea Barracks support the inaugural edition of the new public art initiative Modern Masters with Chihuly at Chelsea Barracks.
London Craft Week extends a warm thanks to them all.
