Port Isabel Event Center Are You Curious About the New Building behind the Museum In Port Isabel? It is the City of Port Isabel Visitor & Events Center and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) The City of Port Isabel was successful in obtaining a low interest loan from the USDA Rural Development Department. The Port Isabel Visitor and Events Center will consist of 19,000 square feet and will accommodate approximately 800 in a theatre setting and up to 600 in a luncheon setting. Not only will the Center serve as a shelter during emergency situations, but it will also serve as a place to gather to celebrate family festivities such as birthday parties, weddings. This new event center will also allow for more economic opportunities by bringing trade shows, conferences and cultural arts programs to the area. There is a architects mock-up of the new Center in the foyer at City Hall (across from the Post Office).

Many of you will be leaving us in April. Have a great summer and safe travels. We will look forward to seeing you again in the fall. Our Last Supper will be April 9, when those euchre dimes will provide Kentucky Fried Chicken and those of you remaining filling in the rest of the meal. This will be the last night of euchre until the middle of October. We had all but given up hope thinking that the elusive 100 score would be unobtainable this season, and THEN Mel Poyzer came through on April 2. His score? 101. Congratulations Mel. POTTY PILLS? EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!! Water saving can also be done by testing our toilet tanks for leakage. If just 10% of our village toilet tanks are leaking, it could result in thousands of gallons of water & dollars literally down the drain. Testing is as easy as dropping a tablet into your toilet tank. You can pick up a pkg. of 2 qt “potty pills” at the Welcome Center and test your own toilets for free. If the dye leaks into the toilet from the tank (without flushing) you have a problem and should replace your flapper valve and try it again.
