travel safely.

As well as enhancing our cleaning measures on our buses and introducing social distancing on board, we’ve added dedicated school buses and drivers, to get everyone where they need to be, safely and with confidence.

The special school buses will clearly indicate on the front screen if it’s a dedicated school bus or a normal scheduled service. If you’re heading to school or college, hop on a dedicated service.

You can find out more about these services and times by clicking here.

Tips for staying safe when travelling by bus: Allow extra time for your journey and check the latest timetables before you travel. Hand sanitiser is not provided on our buses so it is important to thoroughly wash or sanitise your hands before and after travelling. Remember to wear your face covering. Try to keep at least 1 metre away from other people at bus stops. Pay by contactless card, travel card or mobile ticket where possible. Please take time to look at the posters on the bus with guidance on how to social distance while on the bus. Once on the bus, open a window if you can. Do not stand on the bus. Please leave the seat behind the bus driver free.

STUDENT SAFETY We recommend that students make sure to bring their own hand sanitiser and face covering for their personal use each day they are on the college campus.

SOCIALLY DISTANCED STUDY SPACES Students will have access to socially distanced study spaces during independent learning periods.

Additional socially distanced spaces will be provided in the form of two outdoor covered marquees.

REVISED TEACHING TIMETABLE We have produced a new teaching schedule that reduces the number of students on campus and moving around the college campus at any one time.

ENHANCED CLEANING REGIMES We have reviewed and enhanced our college cleaning regimes throughout each day.

Signage promoting hygiene protocols have been installed across the college.

SANITISING STATIONS Sanitiser stations are available on every floor. Additional toilets and hand washing facilities have been installed across the college.

CLASSROOM CLEANLINESS We have equipped every classroom with cleaning wipes, sanitiser, disinfectant and distributed additional bins across the college campus.

TRAVELLING TO COLLEGE Public transport remains an important issue affecting students across the county.

We are continuing to work with local authorities to make sure that the needs of our students are reflected in the services they provide.

Please click here for guidance on transport to college. Please click here for the latest guidance on travelling safely on public transport.

KEEPING YOU SAFE AT COLLEGE COVID-19 SECURE Please be assured that we have put measures in place in full accordance with the government guidelines to keep both students and staff safe.

We hope this reassures you that Long Road is a safe place of study and that you are excited to join us on campus in September.

Parents are encouraged to visit gov.uk/backtoschool for information and practical guidance to help them plan for their children’s return to school.

This includes the governments latest updates to the guidance for parents and carers on what they need to know about colleges in the autumn term
