You will take part in carefully planned workshops and seminars throughout your first year of study to support you in your application to the UK’s most competitive universities. These discussions are thought-provoking and give our students interesting material to include in their personal statements.

During your second year of study, you will receive one-to-one support from recent Oxbridge alumni when writing your personal statements. If you are successfully selected for an interview you will receive multiple mock interviews with recent Oxford and Cambridge University alumni.

BE A STAR: KES BERRY Long Road Alumnus 2020 Hey, I’m Kes. I studied at St Bede’s Inter Church School and at Long Road I studied the Level 3 Art & Design Extended Diploma. I achieved the grades D*DD (which translates A*AA for those who don’t understand the BTEC system).

Now I am studying BA Fine Art at the University of Oxford. I honestly couldn’t have achieved those results without the help of the staff.

I have multiple favourite things about Long Road. It’s truly a community. You will never feel left out at Long Road. I met some amazing friends and

“I am thrilled to see Kes follow her

yourself for the real world.

The campus itself is tucked away in nature which makes it feel like a tiny village, a total safe space.

She has shown 100% commitment to her studies and has risen to the creative challenges presented by the Extended Diploma in Art & Design course here at Long Road.

Her well deserved success has reconfirmed that choosing a vocational qualification in Art and Design can lead to amazing opportunities.

Well done to Kes, it was an absolute pleasure to teach you and it inspires me to see you achieve so highly.”

BE A STAR: SOPHIE MORRIS Long Road Alumnus 2018

“I studied Maths, Biology and Physical Education (ABB). I am now studying BSc Paramedic Science at Sheffield Hallam University.

All of my teachers were really supportive of what I wanted to do; they helped me achieve my grades so that I could do what I wanted to do.

I really enjoyed all my lessons at Long Road. The teachers are always prepared to help, if you ask for it. They often stayed with me after class to answer my questions and go through my work with me.

I was part of the Hockey Team which was great fun and I went on the Ski Trips which were amazing weeks!”

BE A STAR: STUART KEPPIE Long Road Alumnus 2012 During my time at Long Road (2010–2012) I studied Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Computing.

I found a particular affinity for Biology stimulated by the course content and the enthusiastic teaching, which inspired me to continue onto a BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia.

I am now studying for a PhD at the University of Oxford in Interdisciplinary Bioscience, researching osteoarthritis.

The best things about Long Road were the approachability of the teachers, and the academic and extra-curricular provisions. The feedback on my course work and advice on my personal statement helped me get to where I am today.

I loved the atmosphere, opportunities and mix of people at Long Road.
