Harold López-Nussa Trio Friday, October 5 8 pm Havana pianist and composer Harold López-Nussa’s music reflects the full range and richness of Cuban music, with its distinctive combination of classical, folkloric, and popular elements, as well as its embrace of jazz improvisation and interaction. Improvising at the piano with ease and invention, López-Nussa, percussionist Ruy Adrián López-Nussa, and bassist Gastón Joya swing with suppleness.

Peter Richard Conte, Organ and Jeremy Filsell, Piano Friday, November 2 8 pm Peter Richard Conte, Longwood Gardens Principal Organist and the long-time organist at the Wanamaker Grand Court Organ at Macy’s in Philadelphia, presents a program featuring Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini for piano and orchestra. Conte has arranged the colorful orchestral score for organ, with Jeremy Filsell at the piano.

Original Quartet is an exploration of the roots of flamenco music, which was created through the gathering of Greco-Roman, Arab, and Jewish Sephardic cultures and the gypsies of India in Andalusia. Made up of Spanish guitar, violin, recorder, and vocals, this performance includes Iraqi poems and songs, Jewish Sephardic compositions, traditional Indian pieces, and modern compositions created specifically for this project. Parker Kitterman Sunday, February 17 3 pm Parker Kitterman is Director of Music and Organist at Christ Church, Philadelphia, where he has led an active program in weekly choral services, monthly vespers concerts, organ recitals, and other occasions since 2010. He also serves as a piano accompanist for the Singing City Choir, and is an active recitalist, conductor, composer, and clinician.

International Organ Competition Returns June 18–22, 2019
Organists from around the globe compete in the 2019 Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition for the $40,000 Pierre S. du Pont First Prize. Experience the preliminary and final rounds as 10 of the organ world’s brightest young talents compete on the Longwood Organ—one of the world’s largest Aeolian pipe organs—before a panel of esteemed judges.
