Join Our Community Read

Along with our community partners—gardens, museums, conservation organizations, and public libraries—this collaborative effort between the Gardens and the community brings books and people together to encourage reading for pleasure and to start a conversation. This year, we’ve selected exceptional books that explore food as a connector of people and to the world of plants and gardening—as well as explore diverse human themes in relation to the natural world.
Join us as we dive into these outstanding selections, all available for purchase at The Garden Shop (onsite and online) and at major booksellers. Plus, enjoy a selection featured in Black Food in The Café on select dates throughout the season.
Black Food: Stories, Art, and Recipes from Across the African Diaspora, an exuberant celebration of foodways and culture edited and curated by celebrated chef and writer Bryant Terry.
