It was little past midnight

When Sabin heard a sound So he jumped out of bed and tiptoed around Past the hallway, and down the stairs to see If Santa had eaten his cookies Under the tree.

The candy tasted sweet with peppermint spice,

He thought of angels and stars and mommy’s lullabies. Suddenly, outside the window appeared a wonderful thing A big polar bear sitting on a swing! “Hello Sabin! My name is Powder, And I’ll be your guide. Come hop on the swing, you’re in for a ride!”

SABIN

With a powerful push, they rocketed up high

Past clouds and comets, and glowing stars in the sky.

The moon was a full circle, beaming at them below As they safely landed on a soft pile of snow. “Welcome to the North Pole Sabin!” Said Powder smiley-faced “Come take my paw, Santa’s workshop awaits!”

SABIN

First up ahead, by the icy blue

Hundreds of mailboxes, shaped like igloos A team of seals rolled by in their skates Each carrying letters to Santa’s gates. “Here’s where all children’s letters find their way They’re ‘sealed and delivered’ as you might say.” HONG KONG

They followed the seals

Zipping fast at their heels And jumped off the edge of a giant slide Down and ‘round the slippery slope did they glide All the way through great wooden doors And onto Santa’s workshop floor.

What a sight it was! Elves dressed in green and gold, Assembling all kinds of toys in their hold! Candy-striped elevators whizzing up and down, Carousels with gift boxes circling around! “To the top floor!” Powder bellowed “It’s time to meet the big jolly fellow!”

The room was wide and cozy, the ceiling was tall, Oh, and the biggest cookie collection hung on the wall. Suddenly - Ho HO HO!!! Santa appeared! Smiling big and warm, “Hello Sabin!” said Santa, embracing him in his arms. “So happy to meet you! You’re a special one! Feel at home here, may you have lots of fun!” And so, Sabin did...

He met the quirky Coloring Elves Painting everything On the shelves... The brainy Rocket scientists Attaching wings On their gifts...

The Arctic foxes Packing toys in big boxes...

The bakery Run by puffins Who made the best Cookies and muffins...

The reindeer Running their drills Huffing and puffing On treadmills...

Now the time had come for Santa to board his sleigh For tomorrow was a special day. “But first,” Santa said, “one last thing before my ride, A special gift for a special child.”

He shook something in his hands and opened them to show A magical glass globe, showering with snow Filled with shifting curtains of color so bright It was a small piece of the Northern Lights.

Sabin stared deep into the dazzling lights He thought of good times, new friends and sights.

He closed his eyes, lulled by the scene in the dome And then woke up, back on his bed home! “Was it all just a dream?” Sabin wondered in shock, “Had my imagination simply run amok?”

Sabin

But then - something lay in his hands,

A little souvenir from the far northern lands Inside the snowglobe, Santa’s workshop and crew All waving to say, a very special Christmas to you!

The North Pole

...that there is no actual land in the North Pole? The North Pole is the northernmost place on earth, located in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. The area has plenty of Arctic sea ice that is constantly shifting. Some of the animals that live in the Arctic are the Polar Bear, Harp Seal, Killer Whale, Walrus and Greenland Shark. Contrary to common belief, there are NO penguins at the North Pole – they are only found in the opposite South Pole!

Polar Bear

...that the Polar Bear spends most of its life on sea? Even if it is born on land, it swims and hunts most of the time in the Arctic waters. That is why scientific name, Ursus maritimus, means “maritime bear”. It is a close relative to the brown bear, but has evolved to withstand very cold temperatures, and can move easily across snow, ice and open water. It lives in the Arctic Circle in the Arctic Ocean.

Seal

… that a baby seal (or seal pup) can swim and dive within hours of its birth? It develops very fast feeding on their mothers’ milk. The harbor seal (known also as the common seal) is found along the Arctic coastlines of the Northern Hemisphere, the northern Atlanic and Pacific Oceans, the Baltic and North Seas.

Arctic Fox

…that the Arctic Fox (also known as the White Fox or Snow Fox) can camouflage itself in the winter snow? This is because of its beautiful white coat that makes it blend into the snow and ice environment of the Arctic. It can also survive extremely cold temperatures as low as -50°C. It even has furry soles to keep it warm in the chilly climate.

Puffin

…that the Puffin is a bird that can dive in water? They have short wings perfect for swimming with a special kind of flying technique underwater. In the air, they can beat their wings up to 400 times per minute! They can be found in the North Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

Reindeer

…that the Reindeer (also known as the Caribou) can travel as far as 5,000 kilometers when they migrate? They can save their energy better than all other land animals, which is why they are the perfect choice for pulling Santa’s sleigh! They can be found in the Arctic and Subarctic regions of the Earth.

Northern Lights

… that the Northern Lights (or “Aurora Borealis”) are beautiful pulsating streaks of colored light that can be seen in the night sky in the northern parts of the Earth? You can also see these lights in the southern hemisphere (where they are called the “Aurora Australis”). In the past, some Eskimo peoples believed that these lights were spirits playing football with the head of a walrus.
