Police search for driver over school incidents

POLICE are investigating dangerous driving near a north Sheffield primary school after receving complaints from parents.

Whilst undertaking the Junior Road Safety Officer project with children from Ecclesfield Primary School, parents voiced their anger at officers regarding a white Mercedes car that was witnessed to drive at speed down Monteney Road, failing to stop at the zebra crossing whilst a parent and child were on the crossing in the road.

This occurred on Tuesday December 11. A further complaint has been made regarding a white Mercedes car after the male driver was verbally abusive towards Civil Traffic Enforcement Officers who were doing their job in company with the JRSOs. This occurred on Wednesday December 12.

PC Booler would like to speak with the driver of this vehicle regarding his driving and discuss any issues he has surrounding this project.

If you are the driver or have any information to identify the driver, please contact PC Booler via 101 or approach him at the roadside.

PC Booler said:

Both myself and the Traffic Enforcement Officers are at this location undertaking our job. If cars are parked correctly then there is no need for our presence."

No verbal abuse will be tolerated at any level and respect is to be given even more so to the children who have volunteered to do this project, attending school early and finishing late in order to do so!”
