College return for renowned referee

BARNSLEY College’s Sports Academy has teamed up with English Football League referee and former Barnsley College student, Darren England, to develop its Refereeing Academy.

The Refereeing Academy offers a programme that provides young referees with an excellent opportunity to combine education and officiating.

Darren said:

I am looking forward to supporting young match officials in their development and helping them to fulfil their potential and working together to develop the students of Barnsley College.”

Luke Forgione, a Performance and Athlete Development Coordinator at Barnsley College, added:

We are extremely pleased that Darren has agreed to work in Partnership with the College. The agreement will enable students to gainvaluable experience from Darren and learn from his experiences in the professional game, while gaining match day experience and regular support through College games.”
