Students re-create return from the front
UNIVERSITY Campus Barnsley Travel and Tourism and Acting for Touring Theatre students successfully launched a living history event to remember the end of World War One.
The Home from the Front event at Elsecar Heritage Centre provided an authentic recreation of the demobilisation of troops by using a steam locomotive No.813, built in 1904 in Leeds, and Great North of Scotland No.34, a six-wheel railway carriage. Acting for Touring Theatre students played the role of troops, nurses and others at the front line who made the journey back to their homes around the UK between 1918 and 1920.
