Hinchcliffe breaks 8 Year old Barnsley Parkrun record
SCOTT Hinchcliffe claimed yet another record as he won the Barnsley Parkrun in a time of 15-55. The record has stood for eight years on the undulating three-lap Barnsley course.
Many Penistone runners were in action over the weekend with a few racing the National Cross Country championships which were held at Harewood House for the first time in the event’s history.
The event brings together the best cross country athletes across England leading to a high standard. First back for the Senior Men was Daren Nockels who had a strong run to finish the sevenmile course in 46-47. Julia Johnson was first back in the ladies race finishing the five-mile course in 38-36. Brothers Hugh and Ewan Mackie competed well in the junior races.
Elsewhere there was success at the short but challenging Hoppits Hill Race near Mirfield. Penistone claimed both team prizes for the men and women respectively and there were a host of age category winners too. Despite running the national cross countries the day before Hugh Mackie was still able to give the adults a run for their money finishing in fourth overall.
