Detectives in Sheffield are asking witnesses to come forward after an 80-year-old woman had a large amount of jewellery stolen from her home – including an engagement ring given to her at the age of 19.

Sometime between 2-6.30pm on Friday 24 January, persons unknown are said to have broken into the victim’s home on Chapel Road, Sheffield.
“What’s even more distressing is that the victim had been to see a relative, who was extremely poorly in hospital. After a really difficult and emotional afternoon, she came home to find her jewellery had been ransacked.
The offenders are said to have gained entry via the back of the house, while the victim was out visiting an extremely poorly relative.
“Her engagement ring, given to her by her husband at the age of 19, was taken and has rarely been off her finger for over 60-years.
