Scheme to make area cleaner CHAPELTOWN’S 10,000 residents will soon be receiving a Council survey so they can detail what they like and dislike about the area they live. This will cover subjects such as fly tipping, waste, street cleanliness, green spaces, active travel, neighbourhood nuisance and safer roads. Labour councillors have developed this new initiative to make the council more responsive to local needs – and to tackle the local issue that really matter. The new scheme is called ‘Cleaner, Greener, Safer’ and it is hoped it will be rolled out across Sheffield. For the moment, the scheme is being piloted in Chapeltown and residents should be receiving their surveys in the next couple of weeks.
Speaking about the Cleaner, Greener, Safer initiative Labour Councillor Andy Bainbridge (pictured), East Ecclesfield, said: “I’m committed to improving our area and ensuring that local voices are heard. “This is why Labour have devised a scheme to help ensure that the council are responding to the needs of residents. This will be much more than words, with the results of the surveys directly informing council action - and I will hold the council to account to make sure they do. “I hope everyone receiving a survey fills this out, and that this will help lead to a cleaner, greener and safer Chapeltown.”
