Vibrant community hub

Stannington campaign group, Action for Knowle Top, is urging local residents to get behind them to help buy the former Knowle Top Chapel and Schoolroom.

Nicola Parris, Joint Chair for AKT, commented “Anyone could buy it, maybe even knock it down and build whatever they want. But it should belong to Stannington. It should stay in local hands and stay open for business. Knowle Top has huge potential to become a vibrant and boundless community hub with meeting spaces and performance facilities hosting a range of events.

Come along to the public meeting at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 24th November at Christchurch, Stannington, and find out how you can support this exciting project”

Brass Band will lose their ‘home’

Stannington Brass Band will lose their bandroom at Knowle Top, Stannington, unless local campaign group, Action for Knowle Top, is successful in its bid to buy the former chapel and schoolroom.

Proceeds from the band’s concert at the Lomas Hall, Stannington, on Saturday 4th December will go towards the purchase fund.

Phil Attrill, Chairman said “We hope the community will get behind Action for Knowle Top to save the former chapel and schoolroom for everyone to use. We want to remain in our base in the heart of Stannington and see the buildings used for many more events and activities”.

The band will delight the audience with a serving of festive favourites and plenty more besides. Special guests, Clifton Handbell Ringers, will add their own yuletide flavour to this musical spectacular.
