Superfit legal team notch up the miles A team from a Sheffield legal practice has out-ridden fifty other firms from across the UK to become runner up in the hotly contested ‘Tour De Law’ cycling event. The gruelling charity event saw ten staff from Graysons notch up a staggering 2,909 kilometres in the weeklong event – an average of nearly 291 kilometres per employee! The team rode their bikes on the open road; at home or at the gym and raised £1,700 for the Breast Cancer Now charity – smashing their original £1,000 target. Graysons’ team leader Joshua Davies said: “It was probably one of the most physically and mentally demanding challenges of our lives. Cycling nearly 3000 kilometres between ten of

us isn’t the easiest thing to do and you really have to push yourself to keep going. We all gave it everything to raise as much money for the charity as we could – whilst trying to win the distance competition of course! We are very proud of ourselves and that our efforts raised so much more than our target of £1,000 for Breast Cancer Now.” Graysons Solicitors specialise in property, family law, lifetime planning, wills, estates and trusts, elderly client services, personal injury and clinical negligence. The law firm first formed in 1925 and currently employs around 70 staff.

Students launch their own business Barnsley College Horticulture students, Jonathan Carter and Finlay Green, have turned their gardening hobby into a career with the support of iTrust, the College’s business start-up programme designed exclusively for students. Jonathan and Finlay have always had a keen interest in the gardening and landscaping industry and decided to study Level 2 Horticulture at College to further their knowledge and skills within the sector. Whilst doing the course, they decided to take their love for gardening even further and launch their own business, All Seasons. After four months, their blooming business has 13 customers and they have recently signed an agreement with a private nursery and two estate agents that they will visit monthly for general garden maintenance and perform
duties including: grass cutting; flower, shrub and small tree planting; turfing; and lawn care. As part of the programme, Jonathan and Finlay are due to receive a grant of up to £250 each. This will allow them to purchase full personal protective equipment, business insurance and new gardening equipment so they can grow their business and offer a wider range of landscaping works.
It’s not too late to study at Barnsley College! It offers a range of study programmes including full and part-time vocational courses, apprenticeships, T Levels and university-level courses. The College can also create a bespoke study programme tailored to your needs. To find out more visit www.barnsley. ac.uk, email omlreception@barnsley. ac.uk or call 01226 216 150.
