THE FUTURE’S SHINY FOR SHAUGHNA! We had Shaughna Phillips pegged as a potential Love Island winner, so we were shocked and gutted when she was booted out of the villa last Friday. Following the unlucky-in-love Londoner’s journey has been like riding a rather rough, heartachestrewn rollercoaster. We so wanted her to find her dream man, but it just wasn’t to be, was it, Callum?! But it’s not just Shaughna’s rocky romantic life that we’ll miss. The 25-year-old also had us in hysterics with her witty one-liners. From accusing Mike of behaving like “the Gok Wan of relationships” to proclaiming she was “melting like a Lindor” in the South African heat, Shaughna was pretty much this year’s Maura when it came to comedy catchphrases. She was never better than when appraising her own, rather desperate, romantic situation, either. “I need to remember I’ve come on Love Island

to find a boyfriend, not a son,” she reasoned. And then there was the time she said, “I slipped off to take my braces out and I come back and my man’s gone.” Amazing. While her Love Island journey may be done and dusted, we don’t think Shaughna should feel sad for too long. By this time next year, if she hasn’t been on Celebs Go Dating, become a Loose Woman or done a turn on Dancing On Ice, we’ll eat our hats! As the gobby gal would say herself, “Congrats, hun!”

Former Love Island star Amy Hart on her hopes of finding love on Celebs Go Dating, her plans to become a mum and which X Factor star once slid into her DMs

W

hen we arrive on set for our Pop Art-themed photoshoot with Amy Hart, the ex-Love Island star is ready and waiting to begin her incredible transformation. “This is so exciting,” she tells us as she takes her seat in the make-up chair. “I love dressing up!” After an hour and a half of sitting very still, Amy is finally ready read – and despite only being in the industry since last su summer, she knows exactly w she’s doing in front of what th camera. In fact, she’s the such a natural that we don’t have to prompt her once! But while she’s full of confid confidence on the shoot, single ad Amy admits it’s a different story when iti comes to finding love, which is one of the reasons she’s signed up to the new series of E4’s Celebs Go Dating. The former air hostess, who has never officially had a boyfriend, tells us she’s hoping dating gurus Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson will help her find her dream man after she was brutally dumped by Curtis Pritchard in the villa last year. “I just want to learn to become better at dating and see where I

14

was going wrong,” she says. “But all the boys I’ve been out with so far have told me the dates were brilliant, so I’m not sure what I need to improve on!” As well as her hopes of finding Mr Right, Amy has also opened up about her dream of becoming a mum. Appearing on Loose Women last month, she revealed her plans to freeze her eggs in March after being told she could go through an early menopause like her mum and aunt. Admitting it’ll be “good to get it done”, Amy tells us that if she isn’t in a relationship by the time she’s 33, she’ll consider having a baby on her own. Here, Amy, 27, also opens up about planning her wedding, her biggest turn-off and getting drunk on dates… You look amazing in our shoot, Amy! How do you feel about your Pop Art transformation? I’m loving it! I always love to try different things. Speaking of trying different things, how’s your Celebs Go Dating experience going? I’m loving every part of it. It’s fun and also really beneficial – it’s like getting free therapy. And I’m quite lazy so it’s nice that I don’t have to find people to date because the agents do it for me.

15

Why did you sign up to the agency? I want to meet someone and I actually want to become a better dater. Obviously my dating history is very, erm, what’s the word? Calamitous. I’m sounding like Tom [Read-Wilson, the CGD agency receptionist] now, with these big words! Why do you think dates haven’t worked out in the past? I’d like to know! I’m getting really good feedback from my dates so I’m not sure what’s wrong with other boys I’ve dated. I can be a bit too much for some people, but then not enough for others. I need to find someone in the middle. Tell us about the dates you’ve been on so far… I’ve got drunk quite a few times by accident. I’ve also fallen over a few times and made a tit of myself, as usual. I don’t mean to get drunk. I’m too busy trying to concentrate on what the agents have told me and then suddenly, 20 minutes before the end of the date, it hits me like a ton of bricks and I’m slurring.

16

We’ve all been there, hun. Have you ou had any tricky moments? I decided I was going to stop seeing eeing someone and Paul was like, So what are we going to do?” “So And I was like, “Send him a text? Write him a letter?” And Paul was ke, “No!” So I had to phone him. like, I had nervous laughter so I was aughing down the phone while laughing I was telling this boy we weren’t oing to go on any more dates. going Sounds ounds very awkward! Which elebs have you grown close to celebs n the show? on Amy Childs. And I have good banter with Lockie [James Lock]. Charlotte Dawson and her boyfriend are lovely as well. Have any of the male celebs caught your eye? No. It’s all a bit like Goldilocks. Malique Thompson-Dwyer is too young, Dean Gaffney’s probably a bit too old for me and I have too much banter with Lockie. If you had to snog, marry or avoid the male celebs, who would you pick? I would snog Malique, marry Lockie and… I don’t know. I’m not

‘I can be a bit too much for some people, but then not enough for others’ saying I would avoid Gaffers. Can we do snog, marry, cruise instead? I’d like to go on a cruise with Gaffers – I’d get all the EastEnders gossip about Dot, Pat and Wellard. Well played. Have you spent much time with newcomer Josh Ritchie? I haven’t really seen much of him, but he’s a nice guy. What do you think of him doing the show so soon after splitting from Charlotte Crosby? None of us know what actually went on. Charlotte is a really nice girl and Josh is a really nice boy and it’s sad that it hasn’t worked out, but hopefully they’ll both meet nice people.

Are you genuinely hoping to meet your dream man on the show, then? Yeah! I hope I do. I’m hoping for the first Celebs Go Dating wedding. How would you describe your dream guy? I just want someone who gets me and gets my vibe. Someone I can be myself around. What’s your biggest turn-off? Canada Goose coats. Disgusting! Why would you have one? You don’t need one. It’s well known how they make them and I think there are so many good faux fur and down options, so if somebody rocked up to a date with a Canada Goose coat, it’d be a no.

Would you ever want to date someone in the public eye? I think there are pros and cons to both situations. If you’re dating someone in the public eye they know what you’re going through and what you’ve got to deal with, but if you’re dating someone out of the public eye that would be your safe haven to go back to. Have you had any celebs sliding into your DMs? Not in a romantic way. Honey G once messaged me to tell me she was a big fan and that was the best thing that ever happened. All I’m waiting for now is for Wagner from The X Factor to message me. You should message him… Yes! And then when Wagner gets asked who has slid into his DMs, he can be like, “Amy from Love Island loves me!” Have you ever used a dating app? I downloaded Bumble when I was pissed one night and within an hour I had all these people messaging me like, “Hun, there’s a fake account of you on Bumble.” I was like, “Thanks for letting me know!” and never went back on it. You’ve revealed your plans to freeze your eggs. Is it something you ever thought you’d have to do? Yeah, I’ve talked about it for a while, but it’s just actually getting round to doing it. But now that I know that I do actually need to, it’s quite a big thing. I’m not looking forward to it as such, but it will be good to get it done. Are you nervous? I know what I’m like when I’m stressed, so injecting hormones into me is going to turn me into a terror. I’m going to have to get a hotel room for two weeks and not speak to anyone! How much does it cost? About £5k. I didn’t know how much it was until I recently looked into it. My dad has very kindly said he will pay for it, though. He basically wants a grandchild! Ideally, when would you like to become a mum? If I haven’t met someone by the time I’m 32 or 33, then maybe I’d look into doing it on my own. After I was on Loose Women, someone emailed my agent asking to be my sperm donor. He was called something like ‘Big Brummy lad’. Who even emails these days?! I read Calum Best’s interview in new where he said he wants kids soon even if it means doing it on his own. I was going to text him something like, “Babe, if you’re having kids on your own, and I’m having kids on my own…”

That would be amazing! But yeah, I would look into having a sperm donor. It would be like iends. The X Factor with my gay friends. Every week they would havee to d show a different skill and I’d eliminate one every week. One rline, week we’d look at their hairline, eir the other week would be their he height, and then we’d get the winner at the end. Can you imagine yourself with a big family? If I do end up doing it on myy own, I’d just have one and we’d be a team of two. But I would like two or four. Even numbers only because if you have an odd number then who sits on their own when you go to Thorpe Park? Good point! Do you want to get married? Yeah, I know my wedding inside out – it’s just the groom bit that hasn’t been st confirmed yet. It’ll be the last rinsing of my dad before I’m m someone else’s financial o responsibility, so it’s going to be huge. Beverley Trotman’s son from The I’m so busy I don’t even have time X Factor, so I’d couple up with to speak to my nan! him just to get all the gossip.

Would you ever be tempted to go back into the villa if they did an all-star series? Yes! The problem is, though, if you go back in you know how it works and you know too much. It’s that element of surprise that keeps it fresh. Do you ever bump into Curtis and Maura Higgins? Only at events and stuff – and it’s always civil and fine. It’s not awkward. Did what happened with Curtis knock your confidence? Of course it did. When I came out I was in a really bad way. It was really hard because I was doing all these TV shows and people were saying I’m a strong woman and I was actually just really heartbroken. But I’m fine now.

‘I’VE STARTED CALLING TROLLS OUT NOW’ I’ve spoken out about trolling before, but it’s still hard. It really wound me up when the Love Island line-up got announced and you see people complaining, saying, “They only get size 6 people, they’re all clones and you’ve got no chance unless you’re perfect.” Then within the next 10 minutes everyone

has picked holes in what they look like. I got trolled for being fat and ugly and I’m a size 8. I’ve started calling trolls out now. I actually shared a screenshot on my Instagram Stories of a message a random girl sent me where she said, “I’m not doing it to be nasty, but I can see all your hair

What would you say is your ur biggest insecurity? d, I never thought I looked old, e but then I saw some online comments telling me that I look old. Now I get really paranoid about it. I see these pictures of people with lip fillers and I think when you u look like a comedy Instagram filter lter in real life, it’s just not OK. People assume you make a lot d of money after Love Island – is that the case? Not for everyone. Some people eople get a little bit of work at thee beginning and then don’t do anything afterwards, but ut Instagram is a great tool for or making money. Do you worry about your finances now? When I worked in cabin crew ew draft I used to max out my overdraft every month. I didn’t earn that much because it’s quite a low-paid job, but I thought nothing of buying all this stuff because I knew that money was coming the next month. Now I earn good money, but I’m strict with myself d. because I’m self-employed. What would be your dream m job? I’d love to present something ng usly like Love Island. emma Collins stunned fans last week when she revealed she’s been using a fat-burning drip to lose weight in a bid to look like Khloé Kardashian. And now, after getting rid of her trademark extensions, a source has told new there’s another part of The GC’s life she could soon be ditching – her relationship with James “Arg” Argent. While the 32-year-old former TOWIE star has reportedly been getting treatment for “addiction issues” at a rehab facility in Thailand, Gemma, 39, has been focusing on her future – and it seems her plans don’t include her on-off boyfriend. “Gemma’s friends believe the relationship ran its course a long

time ago and that they’re not good together,” the source told new. “They still enjoy each other’s company, but it’s not a crazy in love relationship any more.” The GC has made no secret of her ambition to make it in the US and her weight-loss mission is part of her masterplan. After dabbling with veganism and SkinnyJabs injections, Gemma has now

admitted she’s been using a fat-burning drip at a salon owned by The Real Housewives Of Cheshire’s Dawn Ward. “I am on a mission to lose some pounds and look like Khloé Kardashian,” she told her fans. “I am on the Fat Burner Plus, which is an IV drip. It gives you energy.” But, according to our insider, Gem’s future plans differ greatly to Arg’s. Last week he broke his social media silence to announce he’ll be singing at his pal Elliott Wright’s Marbella restaurant Olivia’s La Cala over the summer. “Gemma is determined to crack the States this year. She’s eating better and cutting out the booze,” our mole said. “She’s looking to the US for success, while Arg prefers to stick to what he knows.”

Gemma’s been using a drip

Just last week Gemma hinted her LA dream is set to become a reality sooner rather than later. Posting a throwback snap of herself looking glam on Insta she teased, “HOLLYWOOD pending”. Sadly for Arg, it’s not just Gemma’s pals who think it’s time for the star to move on. “Her parents hope they’re going in different directions so that she can put this toxic relationship behind her,” our mole added. Looks like Arg’s loss would be America’s gain! Anna Bailey

But new can reveal Ferne McCann is back on the dating scene – and has turned to BFF Billie Shepherd to help her find her dream man. “Ferne is getting tired of her failures with men. It’s been hopeless since Arthur,” an insider told us. “Meeting men in bars and clubs like the old days isn’t happening any more. She often attracts men who are interested in her fame rather than her personality. “She’s leaned on Billie before for help in finding a man. Billie has always looked out for Ferne when she’s looking for love. She hates her friend feeling so down about it all.” Ferne, 29, reportedly met City trader Albie, 25, during a holiday to Dubai in 2018 and started dating him last year.

‘Ferne should stop dating edgy Essex lads’

Sharing a snap from the premiere of The Adventures Of Paddington, she wrote on Instagram, “Miss Sunday midst meltdown on the carpet.” Our mole added that Ferne is hoping to find a boyfriend who also has a child so he can understand the struggles of parenthood. “She would love to meet a single dad, someone who gets what it’s all about and how difficult it is to have a social life when you’re looking after a child 24/7 on your own,” our insider said. Dancing On Ice’s Joe Swash opens up about the perils of training as pro skater partner Alex Murphy tells us she prefers his girlfriend to him

J

oe Swash and his Dancing On Ice partner Alex Murphy have just finished training when we catch up with them for a chat – and it sounds like things have gone without a hitch. “It’s going well, isn’t it, Al?” Joe says, while Alex agrees, telling us, “He’s doing really well this week. He’s getting really good now.” Alex, who was previously partnered with Michael Barrymore, stepped in for Joe’s original partner Alexandra Schauman after she suffered a nasty injury last month. “It was bad, but she’s trying to get herself healed,” Alex says. “Hopefully she’ll be back soon.” As well as the physical challenges of skating, Joe says he’s found it emotionally hard – and says being away from girlfriend Stacey Solomon, 30, and

their eight-month-old son Rex has been tough. Joe is also dad to 12-year-old Harry, while Stacey has sons Leighton, seven, and Zachary, 11, and he admits he can’t wait to be back home with them all once the show is over. Here, Joe, 38, opens up to new about his sex life, while Alex, 31, tells us she’s a big fan of Stacey… Hi guys! How are you finding the whole experience? Joe: I’m really enjoying it. I found it really tough in the beginning because I just wasn’t getting it. I was spending so much time in rehearsals and nothing was sticking, but the last month or so I’ve started to look forward to the training. Before, I felt a bit like a joke act. What’s it like working together? Alex: Joe has been great. He’s so funny in rehearsals. We’ve had With his original dance partner, Alexandra

Joe: Sometimes I have to remind Alex that we’re ice skating and we’re not talking about Stacey. Alex: I love her! Joe, you revealed on Loose Women last week that you and Stacey haven’t had sex for a while. Is that because you’re so tired from training? Joe: It’s a combination of things. We’ve got a new baby, she’s working, I’m working, and we ain’t had no time. And when we do get the time, we’ve got to try to get rid of the kids! But when this finishes, we’ll spend more time together. Good to hear! Do you ever worry about what Stacey could say about you on the panel? Joe: I used to. When we first got together, I was like, “Please, Stace! At least let me know when you’re going to say something!” But now I’m used to it. As long as she doesn’t say anything too

embarrassing about me, it’s alright. Back to Dancing On Ice… Who are you getting on well with behind the scenes? Joe: Me and Perri Kiely get on really well – and I love Maura Higgins. I love Ben Hanlin and Lisa George as well. All of us are getting on great. You and Maura seem to have some friendly rivalry going on… Joe: We really do. She just cracks me up. But our friendly rivalry is from a good place. I was really upset the other week when she was ill and didn’t get enough time to train. She’s a great skater as well. I do love Maura. What do you think about the Caprice drama? Joe: It’s a tricky situation – I don’t think anyone knows the answer. Us contestants and pro skaters were kind of out of the loop a

little bit, so it was a lot of hearsay. Me and Al said to each other, “As long as we’re in a happy bubble let’s keep it that way.” The long and short of Joe finds it tough being it is that no one away from Stacey really knows what happened and I don’t think anyone Finally, do you think you can really cares any more! win Dancing On Ice? I’ve learnt to skate and attention to it as possible and I’ve had a great time. get on with it because I’m sure GEORGIA TREVITT that’s what Phil would want. He doesn’t want a fuss. KERRY ort for Phillip This week Kez shows her supp ! Schofield and starts a new chapter

EX FACTOR

SICK DAYS Well I’ve had quite the week! Not only have I had to persuade Heidi she doesn’t have the coronavirus, I’ve also had a very poorly Max and DJ too. Heidi was particularly sick, so I kept her off school – as is any mother’s prerogative – because she just wasn’t well enough to go in. She’s always been quite a sickly child, so I do have to keep an eye on her, but when I went to ask the doctor for a note for the teachers, they charged £20. I couldn’t believe it! I had no idea that was a thing now, but I’d be interested to see if other parents think it’s a liberty too.

I can’t lie, I stopped watching The X Factor years ago, simply because it became too repetitive and boring for me. So it doesn’t surprise me to see Simon Cowell is putting it on hold this year. If I were him I’d leave it for good now! On the other hand, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway is coming back this weekend and it’s something I’m looking forward to. You can’t beat funny, wholesome family entertainment, so welcome back, boys!

OF COURSE I CAN

I’ve just signed up for a one-year online counselling course, which I’m extremely excited about. I just have to get over the headaches that come with staring at the screen so much! It’s something I’ve toyed with for a while and now I’m an ambassador for The Frank Bruno Foundation, which focuses on mental health, I think it’s the right time. I’ve been through so much in my life and I want to be able to help others. So every Thursday night I’m getting my head down. After all, success doesn’t happen by accident!

SMOKIN’ HOT

So I’m down to 9st and I’m loving it! I feel like I’ve totally overhauled my lifestyle. I’m officially a non-smoker now too – and I feel great for it. You’ve probably seen my endless Instagram posts about yoga and that’s because I’m obsessed with it. I don’t actually feel like myself until I’ve done it first thing in the morning during my precious “me time”. I’m super proud of myself for being

disciplined, focused and getting stuff done. It’s a cliché but it’s true – taking care of yourself makes you feel so much better both physically and mentally.

LOVE TO SCHOFE! What a week it was for Phillip Schofield. I think what he did was amazing. For a married man in the public eye to come out as gay after so long is such a brave thing, especially doing it on live TV! I know his wife Steph and his daughters. They’re absolutely amazing and my initial reaction was one of shock for Steph. But ing apparently they’ve been dealing with this as a family for quite some time now. If you’re not happy with who you are and you have the opportunity to live the life you want to, then you should be able to. As soon as I saw Phil on This Morning I sent him a message of support and he replied straight away, which was nice. I wish him all the best.

Bake Off star Prue Leith tells new she has no plans to retire and praises co-host Paul Hollywood’s “natural charisma”

PHOTOS: David Loftus

an it really be true that Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith turns 80 this week? Not only does she look amazing and exude energy, the TV cook seems busier than ever! On top of travelling to Cambodia to film a new TV show, Prue has written a cookbook – The Vegetarian Kitchen – with her niece Peta, and she’s also working as an adviser to the Government to improve hospital food. Of course, she’ll soon be gearing up for another summer of baking in Channel 4’s famous tent, too – although this year, she will be without good pal Sandi Toksvig, 61, who recently announced her departure from the hit series. new caught up with Prue to find out how she feels about the prospect…

26

Hi Prue! Are you sad about Sandi leaving Bake Off? Yes, very. But she’s just so clever and bright that she’s in tremendous demand. I will miss her, of course, and we’re now rather anxiously waiting to find out who is going to replace her. Presenter Rylan Clark-Neal has been one celeb that’s tipped to take over… Well, the press is always full of rumours about what’s happening, so we’ll see! Have you discussed Sandi’s decision to leave with the others? Of course. We all said how sad we were and that we didn’t want her to go. But she’s done three

puts extremely thumpy music on and we jump around the house. I just keep looking at my watch and I can’t wait for it to be over. You’re known for wearing bright clothes and accessories on TV. Do you dress the same off screen? Pretty much. I like a lot of colour and I’m encouraged by my husband, John. He used to work in the fashion trade and when I ask him if I’m wearing too much colour, he says it’s not enough! You’ve just written a new vegetarian cookbook. Are you veggie yourself? No, but I do eat much more veg than I used to. I’ve made although I travel a lot, I don’t a promise to myself that I won’t really suffer from jet lag because eat animals that have been I sleep as much as I can on planes. factory farmed. years of it – and you can’t do the same job for the rest of your life. We hope you’re not planning to retire from the show now you’re turning 80? No! I could retire, but I don’t want to. For a big chunk of life you’ve got to work because you need the money and your children are young. But now I work because I really like it. How will you mark your landmark birthday? February is a terrible time to have a birthday, so I’ll just have a nice family dinner. Then in August I’m going away with friends to Scotland to celebrate. What’s your secret to looking so youthful at 80? I wish! [Laughs] If there is a secret, it’s probably that I sleep well, I eat well and I love well. I’m very happy, that’s the answer. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow at night. And

a stew or a savoury pie. My husband complains about the house being a cake-free zone, so I do bake them occasionally. But it lasts about 10 minutes, as he has a slice every time he walks past. But we’re both too fat to eat cake all the time! Do you ever have to stop Paul Hollywood being mean on Bake Off? Not really. Sometimes I feel he’s being a bit tough, but it’s always constructive and he’s very honest. He’s a brilliant presenter and with the bakers he doesn’t ever feel obliged to fill the silences with chatter, which I do. He’s got this natural charisma. Do you ever disagree about which baker should go home? No, never. We do our own private marking off-camera though and often I’ll be upset because Paul

gives someone four out of 10 and I’ll think it’s a six out of 10. But we always rank the bakers in the same order and agree on which is best. We never actually quarrel. Do you still hate seeing yourself on the show? Yes, I hardly ever watch it. I’m so vain that I just keep thinking, “Why are they filming me from the side where I look so huge?”

With husband John

I don’t like my voice either. I forget sometimes that I’m supposed to be worrying about the cakes and who’s going to win. You must get asked to do loads of reality TV shows. Would you ever do any of them? Never say never, but I don’t think so. I’m far too old to do I’m A Celebrity because you have to be able to sit on the ground and stand up without being pulled up. I couldn’t possibly do that! Years ago I was asked if I would do Dancing On Ice and I thought, “This will be fun. I can learn to skate and get tremendously fit.” I was really keen, but when I told my secretary, she said, “Oh no, you’re not doing that. You’ll fall and break something, and you’re too old.” Then my husband joined in and that was the end of that.

You must get recognised everywhere you go. Does that ever get annoying? I quite like it, because I love the attention. It’s not so bad that I can’t go anywhere or do anything, but if you’re as famous as Madonna it would be terrible. The only time I’ve had a taste of that was at the BBC Good Food Show. The entire hall was full of foodies and I couldn’t move anywhere because so many people wanted selfies. But most of the time it’s fine and people are lovely. I think I have just the right amount of fame. KELLY ‘SHAKEN UP’ BY THIEF

Forget David Beckham and George Clooney – the most kissed waxwork at Blackpool’s Madame Tussauds is Olly Murs! The staff have to clean lipstick from the 35-year-old singer’s face hourly and top up his make-up twice a day.

Radio presenter Kelly Brook has been left terrified after she disturbed a burglar who then fled from her London home. “I’m so, so upset. It’s really shaken me up,” she said. “I won’t be staying by myself tonight.” However, just a day later the 40-year-old presenter reassured fans she is “absolutely fine”. Kelly was returning home from her Heart radio show when she heard a noise and saw a man running from the back of the house. The thief is said to have made off with electronic items and jewellery. We’re glad you’re OK, Kel!

After impressing fans as The Fox on The Masked Singer, Denise Van Outen has revealed she’s releasing an album. Sharing snaps of herself in the studio, the 45-year-old wrote on Instagram, “Now I’ve been unmasked I can finally talk about what I’ve been up to the past few weeks. I’ve been tucked away in a studio recording an album.” Despite her impressive voice and her experience singing in West End shows, Denise, who managed to keep her identity a secret from her nine-year-old daughter Betsy, went on to confess that prior to taking part in the show she lacked confidence when it came to singing. “This cheeky little fox is a happy little fox,” she added. We can’t wait to hear the album!

JAMIE LAING The Made In Chelsea star, 31, has been diagnosed with tinnitus. “I thought it only affected older people or people who are exposed to loud bangs – but it’s more common than people think,” he explained.

LUCY MECKLENBURGH Pregnant Lucy, 28, has stepped down as a director of her clothing business Lucy’s Boutique after it suffered losses of almost £270,000. “Lucy has decided to sell the business and take a consultancy role, as running it alongside her other venture was taking its toll,” a source said.

DANI ‘LOVE ISLAND SAVED ME!’ Former Love Island winner Dani Dyer has credited the show for making her who she is today. Speaking on the Millennial Love podcast, the 23-year-old said, “Love Island sort of saved me, which is really weird. It just made me become who I am.” She won the show with Jack Fincham in July 2018, but they split eight months later. She’s now dating Sammy Kimmence while Jack welcomed a daughter, Blossom, with his ex Casey Ranger last month. Opening up about her relationship with Jack, Dani said, “It was a part of my life – I’m not ashamed of that. Me and Jack had such a great time together.”

EAMONN AND RUTH GET FRISKY!

SAM FAIERS The Mummy Diaries star has admitted she’d like to do more reality TV now her two children – Paul, four, and Rosie, two – are a bit older. When asked if she’d ever do a show like I’m A Celebrity, Sam, 29, replied, “I wouldn’t feel as guilty leaving them for something work-related abroad. I’m actually very adventurous. I’d like to do something active and fun!”

Eamonn Holmes has opened up about his sex life with wife Ruth Langsford – joking that he doesn’t get enough. Appearing on the Loose Women panel, the 60-year-old presenter said, “To me, it wouldn’t really matter where it is, I’d just be grateful.” He added, “Ruth is very traditional. Ruth has a time and place for everything – and a night of the week.” Ruth, 59, quipped back that it was “quality over quantity”. TMI, guys!

EMILY ATACK The 30-year-old actress is filming a pilot for her own sketch show on ITV. “This will be a source of pride, not only for her but for the whole family, as her famous mum was the star of The Kate Robbins Show in the 80s,” a TV source said. Congratulations!

CHRIS BROWN Singer Chris, 30, has shocked fans by getting a huge inking of a trainer on his face. His tattoo artist shared the design on Instagram, and wrote, “More tattoos last night for my brother @chrisbrownofficial. Here is this Jordan shoe that I did recently.”

VICTORIA AND STELLA REIGNITE THEIR FEUD

Fashionistas Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney are said to have had a huge fallout after Posh hired her nanny and then tried to poach a key member of her fashion design team! “Victoria is distraught,” a source said. “She made her [nanny] a lucrative offer to jump ship. When Stella found out, she went nuclear.” The insider added that Vic also “tried to recruit” Stella’s

head of studio, saying, “Afterr this, an invite to a family party Stella and her husband d Alasdhair Willis had organised ed was rescinded.” Posh is said to have since sent an email “apologising”. Victoria, 45, and Stella, 48, who have unfollowed each other on Instagram, reportedly first fell out in 20177 after Posh posted a snap of Stella’s daughter Reiley online. ne.

e’s the hunk who put a smile back on Britney Spears’ face, and now Sam Asghari is hoping to help millions of her fans feel good about themselves – by following his workout plan, Asghari Fitness. Ever since Britney, 38, introduced her handsome beau to the world back in 2016, we’ve been ardent admirers of his ripped physique. But he’s not always been the chiselled Adonis we see today. Seven years ago, before he found fame, Iranian-born Sam, 26, tipped the scales at a whopping 20st 10lb. Since then he’s carved out a career as a model and actor, starring in music videos for the likes of Fifth Harmony and, of course, Britney. He’s also featured in the rom-com Can You Keep A Secret? Here, Sam tells us what life is like with the world’s most famous pop star, opens up about his acting dreams and explains why it’s so important we all get active. Anything you say, Sam…

30

Hi Sam! You’ve uploaded videos of you and Britney working out together. Do you find it easier to stay motivated when you’re in a relationship with someone who has the same interests? Exactly. That’s the best thing – if you share the same passion you can go out and have fun and exercise together. Why did you want to start your own fitness business? I’ve been involved in fitness for a long time and I wanted to give back. A lot of people

were messaging me on social media asking if I had a plan, so I wanted to make it easier for people who have followed my journey to get fit themselves. How does Britney feel about your new business venture? She loves it. She thinks it’s really cool that I’m trying to help a lot of people. Did she try out the exercises for you? Absolutely. I’ve done the workouts with her many times. We actually did a video last year. A lot of the workouts are on my website. What’s her favourite workout? The leg workouts, I think. The programme is for men and women. She really likes the squats and lunges, and the active stuff that works on your legs. Are there any exercises she hates to do? She’s a very active person – she doesn’t hate anything. She does mostly everything.

Seven years ago he was nearly 21st

What sort of exercises does she do to stay in shape? A lot of yoga as well as running. She’s a natural athlete and her dancing is also a big part of her exercise. Has she taught you any of her dance routines? [Laughs] Yeah. I’ve tried a few, but I’m not a big dancer! Do you and Britney get competitive when you work out together? Yeah. We play tennis all the time – that’s our competition. You must both follow strict diets. Do you ever have cheat days? Yeah, we really enjoy a classic cheeseburger. You met Britney when you were in her video for Slumber Party. Would you ever star in another one of her videos? Absolutely! Why not?! How about a reality show? Maybe not. Our social media is a reality show. Would you like to get married? I think that’s the whole point of being in a relationship – otherwise why would you be in the relationship?

Now he’s ripped and dating Britney

You and Britney get a lot of attention. Does being active help you to cope with life in the spotlight? I think that’s a big part. I use training not for the physical factor, but for the mental factor. I go to the gym for spiritual things and confidence. I use my fitness lifestyle as something to help me with everything else – my career, my relationship, everything I do. I built confidence, discipline and everything from the gym. You’ve uploaded pictures of yourself when you weighed almost 21st. How do you feel when you see those photos? I look back and have a laugh, but I’m glad I changed things around. I think when you’re a heavier or an unhealthy person you have to use your personality to attract people, rather than your looks. It was a great start to live half of my life the other way and half this way. It’s all fun. Do you have a fitness role model you look up to yourself? When it comes to soccer, I really look up to Cristiano Ronaldo. I think he’s done an amazing job. David Beckham is also an inspiration. We’ve met – once in LA at a party and once in a restaurant in Miami. It was great. Why is it so important to you to help people achieve their goals? When I started my transformation it made me a lot happier and more goal orientated. I wanted other people to feel the same. Some of my friends saw that I’d made the transformation and they jumped into it too – then they had an amazing transformation. I saw what it meant to them.

Britney and Sam share a passion for fitness

Sam posts videos of his workouts with the singer

Can anyone follow your fitness programme? I try to keep it simple but sophisticated enough for people to see results. I’ve made a programme for my fans to enjoy. Talk us through a typical workout… Most are pretty simple. They’re foundation workouts to get people started, because not everybody is a fitness jockey. It’s more for everyday people who have a nine to five job. When they go on the website they enter their goals, height and weight, and it creates a programme for them. What’s your own personal goal? My goal is my acting career – fitness is my lifestyle. I want people to incorporate fitness into their lifestyles, too. Everyone should incorporate nutrition and exercise into their lives. Have you got any big roles coming up? Right now I’m working as a series regular on a TV show called The Family Business. I have a very cool action role. elvin Fletcher’s previous admission that he’d welcome the “Strictly curse” came back to bite him last week as rumours circulated that his close relationship with professional dance partner Oti Mabuse had caused a rift between him and his wife Eliza Marsland. Hitting back at affair rumours, Kelvin insisted “everything is amazing” with Liz, adding, “I am just a little bit bewildered by all the attention, but I’m sure it will all blow over.” Speculation arose after the Strictly champs, who are set to head to New York together in June for a cruise ship event, were pictured heading for late-night drinks on two consecutive nights. Kelvin and Oti were pictured arriving at London hotel Sanctum Soho in the early hours of Friday morning before heading to another hotel at 11pm on Saturday, prompting Eliza to unfollow her husband on Instagram. A source claimed it was because she “felt like a fool”. But the childhood sweethearts showed no sign of strain last Tuesday as they were pictured kissing in the street – and Kelvin later he praised his wife in

a gushing post on Instagram, writing, “How many filters have you used here?! Uploading a video of the pair rehearsing, she wrote, “I’m guessing @jowitaprzystal loving the dance lesson from @mariusiepure.”

The next day Oti and Marius flashed their wedding rings as they walked hand in hand in London. Speaking about going to watch him in action, Chloe tells us, “Initially I was like, ‘I don’t want to go and watch someone hurt him.’” But she says her plan is to “sit behind two of our larger friends and hide behind them”. The couple tied the knot with a Christmas wedding in 2018 and Chloe tells us they’re still very much in the honeymoon period. “He’s not romantic in a practical sense, but he’ll always tell me if I look beautiful or if he’s proud of me,” she reveals. Here, Chloe tells us her thoughts on starting a family with her hubby and her famous parents returning to TV…

Chloe has built a career around fitness

Hi Chloe! With James busy training, do you have any projects of your own in the pipeline? We’re talking about one or two things we can do together, but it’s tricky at the moment because he’s decided he’s an MMA fighter. He’s going to be 100 per cent tied up with that until the summer, but after that we’re hoping we can embark upon two projects. This year will be the year that we finally do something together. Can you tell us what it is? One of the projects is for TV, the other is in the podcast area. Would you do any presenting work together? No. The projects we have coming up are reflective of our real life.

me happy. It’s funny because it’s a lot of people’s dream to be on TV, but I had no real passion for it or interest in it. How about family – are babies on your radar? I’ve been thinking about that more and more since we got married. Initially we didn’t really want kids, but the more my brothers are having my nieces and nephews, it’s becoming a potential reality for me. It’s a conversation that’s constantly changing and evolving, but with this fight coming up, I swear to God it’s taken over our lives. I’m excited for it to end! Now you’re in your thirties, is there more pressure put on you to have children? Yeah, as soon as I hit my thirties, TV presenting is definitely on the and especially when I got cards for James. It didn’t make it strange that people find it shocking when someone says they’re more focused on their career or when I used to say, “I don’t actually think I want to have kids.” If a man said they didn’t want children, no one would bat an eyelid. I’m not saying I won’t end up having them one day, but if I decided not to I don’t think that should be remotely surprising. Would you be happy if kids never came along? I don’t know. I’m in this With her parents grey area and I’m in limbo Richard and Judy with it, which is OK as well.

‘TROLLING IS PSYCHOTIC AND GROTESQUE’ Since I’ve deleted Twitter I’ve had no more trolls in my life. It’s a hotbed for them – just stay well clear! When I started getting trolled it was because I was my parents’ daughter, but then when I ventured into health and fitness it became more about my look. People think women shouldn’t have muscle, which is so sexist and ridiculous. People got very angry that I am muscular. It’s just an excuse for someone who’s never met me to abuse me.

It’s psychotic and grotesque and should absolutely be tackled to a much more serious degree than it is currently. I believe it’s 100 per cent possible to get rid of trolling altogether. It’s possible to come up with an algorithm that uses certain words, patterns and structures that will allow everyone to have freedom of speech, but certain words and phrases can be blocked and blacklisted. It would create a hell of a lot of good in terms of online usage.

Have you had many saucy DMs since you’ve come out?

It’s been a blast looking at my phone! But I’ve got a lot of positivity. I wouldn’t say there are many saucy DMs, but I’m not too concerned as I’m focusing on Eva.

Do you have any regrets from your time in the villa? The only thing I’d do differently is not kiss Eva on the first night in the main villa. In my defence, Eva and I were talking under the covers when it was light. I think Demi assumed we were kissing, which is when she got upset. But we actually tried to be a bit more respectful and kiss

silently. When the lights were off, out of sight, you couldn’t hear us. But at the same time, to explain that to Demi was still a kick in the teeth. So I hold my hands up. I do apologise.

Which Love Island couple is the most genuine? Luke T and Siânnise. The second he came in, it was like a different ball game. Siânnise had a smile on her face 24/7. He’s possibly one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I’d love them to win.

There’s been a lot of talk about doing ‘bits’ in the villa. Are sexual tensions high? Speaking from my own experience, I was with Eva for about a week and I was thinking, Lord knows how these boys, like Finn for example, have been doing it for three weeks. The tension is very much through the roof. They’re doing well to keep a lid on it… GEMMA MCCARTNEY Love Island airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2

I DON’T GO SOLO After Kelvin Fletcher and his Strictly dance partner Oti Mabuse enjoyed a late night out partying without their other halves, GMB conducted a poll asking if it’s OK to party without your partner. Seventy five per cent of viewers said it is. When I did Strictly in 2015 I never went to parties without Emily, but that’s not to say I think other people are wrong for doing so. In

my opinion, when you’re married to someone, your partner should always be invited on nights out. I don’t like going to big events like Pride Of Britain without Emily, but I still go because it’s a special, one-off evening. We like to do things together, but it’s not always possible due to the kids and work. It’s what suits your relationship.

MY VIEW E H ON T S NEW

At the time of writing my column, the number of cases of the coronavirus in the UK had reached nine, with 12 schools in West Sussex placed on alert as a precaution after five people in the county were diagnosed. I was at an airport last week and all the customs officers were wearing masks. It really alarmed me. When I first saw people in the streets wearing them I thought it was a bit extreme, but the more I see and read, the more I’m beginning to think, “Is it more serious than we’ve been led to believe?” I’ve started noticing people sneezing and coughing and my instant reaction is, “Have they got the virus?” I know the NHS and Public Health England are doing all they can. Obviously Emily being a doctor brings it close to home for me and, of course, I’m worried about her. But I’m also proud of her doing her job.

The kids are on half term, so I’ve got a spe special trip planned for me, Junior and Bista. I don’t want to ruin the surprise so Bist I’ll tell t you all about it soon. Theo’s settling into nursery. He’s still only going one morning a week, but it’s been really difficult dropping him off because he’s a mummy’s boy. Once he’s there he really enjoys it and we’ve never been called to pick him up early, but as parents it’s hard because he just wants to be with Emily. Millie, on the other hand, is obsessed with school and keeps asking when she can go back!

Back on stage I’m really excited to announce the dates for my upcoming Evening With shows. The first night kicks off in Southampton on 29 February, which comes just after my birthday on the 27th. None of my family come to the shows, but I always like to play footage of things the kids or Emily have said. It’s a bit like a segment of my old reality show, but on stage.

I teased a clip last week and in it Emily says, “He risked his own life to jump from the van.” Want to know what she’s on about? You’ll have to book a ticket, ha ha. It’s a completely new show – I might even sing a song – and I love meeting you all.

was true to himself even though that was scary. He’s still the same man he always was. When you’re a family man like Phillip Schofield, there’s a lot of pressure to conform. Jay didn’t want to let people down and he worried about what people would think. But all that matters is you’re a good parent, a good friend and a good man. KIM WILLIS JAY SAYS: “When I saw that guy at the traffic lights, I found myself looking twice. Then I tried to ignore the feeling. ‘I love women,’ I told myself. ‘I love Carly.’ “But as time went on, I felt the need to watch gay porn. My head was all over the place. When Carly asked if I was OK, I’d reassure her, while inside I was screaming. I felt so guilty because we’d built a life together, but I couldn’t live it. I know the pressure Phillip Schofield must have been under, burying his feelings for so many years. But, after Carly and I separated, I realised the impact on our kids if I lived a lie would be worse than if I came out. “I now have a fantastic relationship with Carly and the boys based on honesty and mutual respect. I’m so grateful Carly accepted who I am. I’m single at the moment but I’m happy. Coming out was the best thing I ever did.”

‘I’m more confident now than ever’

Gogglebox star Amy Tapper, 20, on controlling portion sizes, changing her lifestyle and working on her confidence HEIGHT 5FT 3IN

DRESS SIZE 20

Hi Amy! Do you feel body confident? I’ve still got a way to go. I’ve got a lot more weight I want to lose and I’m still working hard, but I feel more confident than I used to, 100 per cent. I’m probably more confident now than ever before.

How often do you exercise? I’d say about two or three times a week. When I was doing the Do The Unthinkable plan, I saw my personal trainer Steve twice a week on a Monday and a Thursday, so I’ve tried to stick to that. If you set yourself days to do it, you are more likely to go, rather than saying, “I might go tomorrow, or I might go the next day,” and you never end up going.

What is the Do The Unthinkable plan? It’s a plan that lasted for 12 weeks. It was so nice having everything prepared for you. When you start a diet and you’ve got to start making all the food, it’s a burden. But when it’s literally handed to you on a plate, it’s great! And you’ve got a trainer when you go to the gym.

Describe your workout regime… It’s a lot of weightlifting. With weights, you’re burning calories while you’re there, but then they continue to burn throughout the day. Even if you’re just moving around, you’re still burning calories from weightlifting.

Why did Do The Unthinkable work better for you than other plans you’ve tried? It was realistic. It was good food – it wasn’t any bars or shakes. I never went to the gym before. I was always scared of personal trainers, but Steve was very patient and understanding. When you’re on the Do The Unthinkable plan, you don’t feel like you’re on a diet, it’s just a change of lifestyle.

What’s your favourite part of your body? Probably my boobs. WORDS: Hamaiz Iqbal PHOTOS: Do The Unthinkable, Getty

And what’s your guilty pleasure?

Sushi. There’s so much sugar in the rice – people think sushi is good, but it’s not really. Instead of having the actual sushi, now I have sashimi and steamed rice.

Have you ever been tempted to go vegan or vegetarian? I was going to do Veganuary, but I remembered it’s my birthday in January, so I thought, nah! I don’t think I could go veggie – I love meat.

Does being in the public eye make you feel under more pressure to look good? Yes, 100 per cent, sadly! I’d happily not wear make-up, but there are pressures. People

Amy with her dad Jonathan

might assume that I sit at home and eat five bags of crisps, but it goes over my head because I know that they don’t know anything.

Finally, what’s your top healthy tip? Control your portion sizes. I’ve noticed a massive change. You’ve almost got to train your stomach into thinking it’s smaller. Also, the slower you eat, the fuller you feel. Amy completed Musclefood’s Do The Unthinkable diet and fitness programme. See musclefood.com/ do-the-unthinkable

NUTRITION CONSULTANT IAN MARBER SAYS… “Amy starts the day with a high-protein breakfast, with some omega 3 fats in the salmon, but adding in a few complex carbohydrates will provide fibre, making the meal more complete. Amy might crumble a couple of oatcakes on top. “There’s protein in chicken, along with minerals such as zinc and selenium, which are powerful antioxidants that combat oxidative stress in the body. “Amy is having plenty of vegetables, and as long as they aren’t cooked for too long, then using a microwave helps retain crunch and fibre. After having her daughter seven months ago, Gemma has slowly got her pre-baby body back, saying she began with cardio. “My training has more purpose now I have Mia,” she reveals. “I’m her role model!” Aw!

2

The former Emmerdale actress doesn’t deny herself treats, despite being strict with her training. “By making good nutritious choices with my meals without depriving myself (hello once a week cheesecake and pizza) I’m slowly getting back into it,” she explains.

3

Gemma’s routine consists of bodyweight and weights circuits and the star lives by the motto, “No one regrets a workout once it’s done.” She adds, “It’s always worth it once those endorphins kick in.”

4

Her diet has improved since she began dating Strictly pro dancer Gorka Márquez in 2017. “Food always tastes nicer when someone else has cooked it,” Gemma says. “Gorka’s a great cook. He does an amazing Spanish omelette. Spanish food doesn’t feel too greasy or heavy. The Mediterranean diet is a good one.” Gemma, who released her book The Ultimate Body Plan in 2018, has sound advice when it comes to nutrition. “Food is king – people say you can’t out-train a bad diet, which you can’t, but you also can’t train on a bad diet either,” she explains. “You need good fuel to train well. They go hand in hand.”

‘My bullying, vengeful parents tried to steal my daughter’ Restaurant manager Jade Green, 28, of Illinois, found herself in a living nightmare after her parents tried to gain custody of her little girl – but she refused to give up the fight

here was only one thing for it – Josh and I were going to have to get a place of our own. We’d lived at my parents’ house in Calhoun, Illinois, since we’d married in May 2014, along with my daughter Daisy*, then four, from a previous relationship. But even though my mum Angela, 57, and stepdad Jack, 55, didn’t live with us – they had another house 60 miles away – it was getting too close for comfort. What really brought things to a head was the fact they were trying to bully Josh back into cop work. He’d been in the police force before for eight years, but now worked in security. However, it was election time and the post of sheriff was up in Lawrence County near where we lived. My parents were rich and had a lot of influence locally. Having a sheriff for a son-in-law would have given them even more. But Josh, 34, wasn’t the kind of guy to put up with someone pulling his strings, so he refused. I would have done anything my parents asked at the drop of a hat, but their demands were getting excessive. Every time they came over they’d say, “We need you to do this.” Eventually, I’d be like, ”OK! Calm down!” I worked for them as a reporter on their successful local newspaper. Suddenly, they claimed my work was terrible – but it wasn’t. I was trying to do my job and Josh was trying to do his, plus we were taking care of Daisy. But they were trying to make it look like it was Josh causing me to slack off. In reality, Josh and I suspected they felt they were losing control of me and were trying to split us up.

Now it was like they wanted to make Daisy their daughter, not mine. Josh and I knew that while we lived in their house my parents had a hold over us, so one day in August 2014 I told them, “You’re acting weird and I’m tired of it. We’re getting our own place.”

NUDE PHOTOS They just lost it. They fired me from my job and then, worse, I found out that a jealous ex-boyfriend had sent them nude pictures of me. Now they were threatening to publish them in the paper. Josh and I stood firm. We said we didn’t care and told them to do their worst. But when they then told me they were taking Daisy away from me, I thought, “My gosh! They’re crazy.” We moved out and stayed with Josh’s parents for two months until we got a house of our own. In the meantime, we Jade and Josh felt tried to get a court order to spell out stifled by her parents that my mum and stepdad had no claim on Daisy, but we were told we didn’t Another issue was that when Daisy went to have enough grounds. stay with them, they were always late bringing We’d been in our new home for a month her back – not just a couple of hours, but when I got a letter from my parents’ attorney several days. They’d say they were going to saying they wanted to spend time with Daisy bring her back on Wednesday, then wouldn’t and we should work something out. It freaked turn up until Saturday. If I told them to bring me out that they’d got a lawyer involved, but her back on time, they’d ignore me. In the end I tried to put it out of my mind. I thought, “Right! You’re not having her.” Two nights later, close to midnight on Sunday, I started to feel suspicious. When Daisy Daisy was in bed and I was talking on the was small I wasn’t able to take care of her phone to Josh, who was on his night shift at on my own for various personal reasons, so work. Josh and I got home at 3am and collapsed into bed. At 10am the following morning I was on the phone talking to Kent Heller, a lawyer interested in our case, when the doorbell rang. Josh answered it and stood talking to whoever it was while Kent told me to send him all the information and he’d get on it. I hung up the phone and Josh walked in.

SHOCK ARREST “It’s the police. They’ve come to arrest you again,” he said in a panicked voice. “I tried to stop them, but there’s nothing I can do.” This time I was arrested for hanging on to a work phone my parents said was theirs. Luckily I got out in an hour when Josh bailed me out with $500 borrowed from his parents. We went straight to the courthouse to talk to the state attorney, Chris Quick, who’d made the custody order. We wanted to find out how to get Daisy back. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said to us, then told us to go. I was so confused. The police had assured me he had the answers and I believed I could sort it out if I explained everything to him. But here he was, denying all knowledge. But one of the women working in the courthouse knew Josh and quietly told him what she knew – my mother had taken out

That week we had a court hearing and were told Daisy was living with my mother and stepfather, who had taken out a court order preventing us from approaching them. He said we’d win and that the state attorney had no power to take Daisy away, but we were stuck in the system and had to let it play out. CLASSIC MAC ‘N’ CHEESE The combination of Cheddar and Monterey Jack adds a delicious flavour to this ultimate comfort food INGREDIENTS

METHOD

Handful of coarse sea salt 500g macaroni Salt and freshly ground black pepper 50g fresh breadcrumbs FOR THE BÉCHAMEL SAUCE

50g unsalted butter 60g plain flour 625ml milk 1 tsp finely ground sea salt 150g Monterey Jack or other mild, semi-hard cheese, grated 150g medium Cheddar, grated

■ Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil. Add the coarse sea salt, then turn the heat down slightly so the water is at a rolling boil. ■ Add the macaroni, stir well and cook according to the packet instructions until very tender. Stir from time to time to prevent the macaroni sticking together. When cooked, drain, rinse well under running water and let drip dry in a colander. ■ Preheat the grill to medium. ■ To make the béchamel sauce,

melt the butter in a saucepan, stir in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Pour the milk in a steady stream, whisking constantly, and continue to whisk for 3 to 5 minutes until the béchamel starts to thicken. Season with the sea salt. ■ Remove from the heat and add the cheeses, mixing well with a spoon. ■ Put the cooked macaroni in a large mixing bowl. Pour over the hot béchamel sauce and mix well. Adjust seasoning to taste.

■ Transfer the macaroni mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly. Top with a good grinding of black pepper and sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top. Grill for 5 to 10 minutes until the top is crunchy and golden brown. Serve immediately. Recipe from Melted Cheese (£9.99, Ryland Peters & Small)

‘RESULTS OF MY DNA TEST WERE SCARY’ K

irsty Gallacher takes her fitness and wellbeing seriously. The former Sky Sports presenter packs in three personal training sessions a week, plus running and swimming, on top of a well-balanced diet of fruit, vegetables, lean meat and fish. When the 44-year-old was invited to do a DNA analysis test, she thought it would be a chance to further boost her health by tailoring her fitness and lifestyle to suit her genetics. But after discovering a sensitivity to caffeine and sodium, plus a vitamin B6 deficiency, Kirsty’s genetic blueprint provided a shocking health forecast. Not only is the star at risk of osteoporosis, a condition linked to insufficient magnesium production, but she also has a propensity for developing Alzheimer’s, which her grandfather Sidney suffered from before his death 14 years ago.

“It was very scary,” says Kirsty. “The week I found out, I talked at an Alzheimer’s charity event with BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage, whose dad died of Alzheimer’s. And it was so distressing listening to his story because I didn’t know it all. Alzheimer’s is not cut and dried. It can start and you don’t know it’s started then it slowly robs the person of life. My mum’s a dietitian and said there are certain B vitamins only found in meat so I switched back onto meat and my headaches went,” she says. Kirsty, who takes a daily magnesium supplement to protect her from osteoporosis, has also reduced her consumption of spicy food after the results revealed it doesn’t agree with her. “I retain water very easily with salt,” she explains. “I knew I suffered a little bit from what I thought was premenstrual bloating, but I think it’s because of spicy food, which I eat a lot of and has natural salts in it. It’s about balance. You need to keep that right.” So what surprised Kirsty most about the results? “When it said I’m good at maths,” she laughs. “I’m a journalist. ALZHEIMER’S: THE FACTS The word dementia is actually an umbrella term describing a set of symptoms that include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common, but other types include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and frontotemporal dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 850,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia. By 2021, a million people will be living with the condition. This is predicted to soar to two million by 2050. Dementia has a bigger impact on women than men. With more and more women living into

their 80s, half a million women in the UK are now living with dementia. According to Dementia Consortium, 61 per cent of people in the UK with dementia are female and 39 per cent are male. There are treatments available to help people live with the symptoms of dementia, but at the present time there is no cure.

The majority of people with dementia are over 65, but the condition is not a normal part of getting older – although the likelihood of developing dementia does rise with age. If you need help or more information, call the National Dementia Helpline on 0300 222 1122 or visit alzheimers.org.uk.

PEEK AT D A P R I E TH MPSON LOUISE THO

The reality star lives in west London with fiancé Ryan Libbey

This textured wooden cabinet, complete with faux foliage and piles of books, nails her “grown-up” interior design brief.

We’re loving the neutral, grey vibes of the master bedroom – and Louise has even managed to coordinate her outfit with the décor!

Louise and Ryan’s lounge is flooded with natural light, making it the perfect place for an impromptu family photo.

We’re amazed the former MIC star’s kitchen is so spotless when she’s just finished rustling up this healthy snack. Meal time in the Thompson/Libbey household is a family affair. The table is the perfect height for their adorable pooch.

We’re guessing Louise didn’t take Koji out in the garden in those boots before putting them up on her white sofa!

THE OH! ZONE TV’s Robert Rinder listens to female grime artists and is moved to tears by a TV show…

GEMINI MAN

DVD

Will Smith’s smash hit action thriller makes its way onto the small screen this week, meaning you can have a little slice of Big Willy Style in your own home. Will plays Henry Brogan, an elite assassin who’s ready to throw in the towel after killing off one too many bad guys. However, his plan for a peaceful retirement goes awry when he becomes the target of a faster, younger, far deadlier clone of himself. Yikes. The Blu-ray and combo pack is on shelves now, complete with spectacular bonus features including a never-before-seen alternate opening and deleted scenes.

The last show I binge-watched was Cheer on Netflix. It’s the most exquisite example of how television can essentially be about so much more than just one thing. It’s about acceptance, about mentorship, about how someone can change your life by believing in you. I don’t cry easily, but by the end of it I was in floods. The funniest person on TV, apart from me, would have to be either Ruth Jones or Piers Morgan.

WORDS: Karmel Doughty, Sarah Morton

My guilty pleasure is Aussie Ladette To Lady. I was obsessed with series two. It’s got everything. It’s My Fair Lady meets Neighbours meets Prisoner: Cell Block H. My dream co-star would be Taron Egerton because he doesn’t realise how much I love him. I saw him on a plane once – he was sitting in the next seat – and I was so paralysed that I couldn’t even go to the toilet because I thought he’d know I was staring at him. I also love Susanna Reid. The last album I downloaded was Louise Redknapp’s latest, Heavy Love. It’s richly musical and powerfully authentic. In addition to writing chamber music and being a trustee at a really big chamber music festival, I also like lots of things, like female grime artists. The best movie ever made is, at a push, Mary Poppins. For me it has everything. It’s ultimately about so much more than it appears to be – it’s joyous, it’s about possibility and delight… You can watch it as a family on every different level. And at the epicentre of it is Julie Andrews. Social media aside, the app I use the most is the weather app. Especially at the moment! My karaoke classic is anything by James Taylor. And, of course, Aretha Franklin’s Respect. On my bookshelf you will find… well, books. My study is floor to ceiling with books. I know it’s a really boring answer, but when anybody else answers that question, don’t they say books too? Judge Rinder is on weekdays from 2pm on ITV. TV Q&A

‘I REALLY ENJOYED SETTING JOHN ON FIRE!’

J

on Richardson and Lucy Beaumont have been married for almost five years. They have a gorgeous three-year-old daughter, eccentric neighbours and lots of showbiz friends – and now they’ve allowed cameras into their home… sort of. The pair are offering a fictional window into their funny and frustrated marriage, playing an exaggerated version of themselves in Meet The Richardsons, the hilarious new sitcom written by Lucy herself. While the couple may be (slightly) faking it, their actual neighbours and real celebs such as Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Rob Beckett, Chris Kamara, Jonny Vegas and Jason Donovan will be on board to join the fun. We caught up with the bickering duo to find out more… How did you feel about cameras invading your home? Lucy: I loved it. I think I definitely played up to being an aggressor. Normally I take a lot of shit and have to back down from a lot of

things. I really enjoyed going hammer and tongs and putting Jon into awkward situations. Like setting him on fire. I really enjoyed that. Jon: It helps you win an argument when it’s in a script and it can’t be changed. If you arrive on set and there’s a pyrotechnics team there, you sort of know you’re going to get set on fire. How did the writing process pan out? Lucy: I co-wrote it with Tim Reid, who co-wrote the first series of Car Share with Peter Kay. A lot of it was taking storylines almost verbatim from things that have happened during an argument. Jon maybe doesn’t even know this, but I’d go away and quickly try to remember everything we both said! Jon: I do know that because sometimes you didn’t even go away, you’d transcribe an argument in front of me while we were having it! So it’s true to your own lives? Lucy: Some of the storylines have been heightened for entertainment, but it’s always

Real life hubby and wife comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont on the joys of filming their new sitcom

real. It’s a bit like The Only Way is Essex. Jon: It’s so not TOWIE! Lucy: It’s exactly the same thing that they do – and there’s nothing wrong with saying that. People love it. And now they all own beauty salons, so we’re going to be alright. You’re going to be selling false eyelashes in no time! What’s more common in your household, arguments or laughter? Lucy: It’s very rare that I make Jon laugh. He laughs at me more than with me. Jon: I think we’re quite relaxed around each other when we’re on our own, but when we have guests we both click into gig mode and work as a double act. You obviously work well together… Jon: Well, we’ve said some horrific things to each other on camera. Once you’ve unleashed them, it’s a bit like Pandora’s box – everything’s out and all

that’s left is a grudging respect for each other and a desire to continue the marriage because we’ve said awful things! Lucy: I feel more comfortable in a domestic setting where people are arguing. I was brought up to believe if you don’t have an argument it’s because one of you is keeping something in. I don’t know whether it’s a Hull thing, but you have a big argument and it clears the air. How did your daughter Elsie find the whole experience? Jon: She absolutely loved it. She’s at an age where she can’t really remember what went before, so she doesn’t understand why people have stopped filming every minute of our lives. I think she feels like we’ve been rejected. She keeps asking when the crew are coming back! Meet The Richardsons starts on Thursday 27 February at 10pm on Dave

When Agatha Christie wrote her short story back in 1925, we wonder if she imagined her twisty-turny whodunnit would be one of London’s most exciting theatre experiences nearly a century later. Staged in a real life debating chamber in London’s stunning County Hall, the story centres on the case of Leonard Vole, who is accused of murdering a wealthy widow. The audience watches the courtroom drama unfold from the accused’s perspective, with some even addressed as the jury, and the punchy script keeps things interesting until the thrilling climax. The play has been such a deserved hit, its run has been extended until September, so if you fancy a decent crime mystery, grab yourself a ticket.

One pod will be made over into a classic British boozer, one is set to be an ode to London’s parks, while another will include a mini theatre, complete with a West End soundtrack. Then there’s the royalthemed pod, where visitors can pose alongside Her Maj (or at least a very realistic waxwork fresh from Madame Tussauds)! EVE NTS Many happy returns, LE!

TUTANKHAMUN

Love Islanders Alex and Olivia Bowen are the latest stars to be added to the line-up of MTV’s brand new event Reality Con, celebrating the bonkers world of… you guessed it… reality TV. If you haven’t quite had your fill of Geordies, exes and tatts, head over to Exhibition London on 8-10 May, where you’ll find the stars of Geordie Shore, Ex On The Beach and Just Tattoo Of Us mingling alongside Alex and Liv. Fans can enjoy photo opps as well as live DJ sets and panel discussions covering a range of topics, from behind the scenes gossip to what it’s really like to be a reality TV star.

Pharaoh-nuff, it is pretty random that we’re including this long-dead mummy as part of our “must-see” things to experience this week, but when you sphinx about it, what could be better than soaking up the history of the iconic Egyptian in the plush surroundings of the Saatchi Gallery? This exciting exhibition, Treasures Of The Golden Pharaoh, unveils more than 150 original objects from King Tut’s tomb, 60 of which have been allowed out of Egypt for the first and last time. If your little ones are learning all about Ancient Egypt at school, this would make a perfect half-term day out. The Family Pass is valid for 9am and 9.30am entries all this week, £77 for a family of four.

LIKE A VIRGIN!

KATE’S KITTY TROUBLE

I read Ulrika Jonsson’s latest sex confession open-mouthed last week. The TV presenter revealed she “felt like a virgin all over again” after having sex for the first time in five years. Although Ulrika didn’t reveal the identity of her Just how cute is Kate Beckinsale’s Persian beau, she did let slip that the encounter followed fluffball, Willow? HARRY & MEGHAN’S PAY DAY

My heart goes out to Christine and Paddy McGuinness, who’ve just revealed their third child, Felicity, has autism, like her big brother and sister Leo and Penelope. Christine has long suspected her youngest had the condition, but had to wait until she was three for her to be officially diagnosed. Writing on Instagram, she said, “Going through this journey again does still bring some heartache knowing all three children will face challenges and difficulties that others won’t. We are here to love and support our three extra special children.”

Christine’s doing great work telling the world what it’s like living with autistic children. I’m sure she’s an inspiration to every parent out there caring for kids whose needs are more complex than most. What a great mum.

It didn’t take long for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to jump on the gravy train, did it? Hot on the heels of Harry’s speech at American bank JP Morgan comes the news that the pair are in discussion with investment bank Goldman Sachs to speak at one of their talks. While the latter event may be unpaid, it’s presumed Harry may have pocketed a hefty pay packet for the JP Morgan event, where he was introduced on stage by Meghan’s pal, TV presenter Gayle King. So far, so Hollywood. It’s now more than clear Harry and Meghan are for hire to anyone with deep enough pockets, and the fact that their first event since stepping down from royal duties was at one of the world’s biggest banks speaks volumes. And guess what… they reportedly flew there in a private jet. It’s hardly saving the world, is it?
