Laugh The basis of any lasting friendship is a sense of humour. Remember to laugh, smile and have fun. These little moments can distract us from the rigours of daily life and make us feel good.
Questions for Gemma
Be grateful Expressing gratitude has been proven to enhance trust, closeness and affection. The benefit is not only felt by the one who receives it, but by the one who gives it too. The reality is we all have different quirks and flaws, but rather than looking at what your partner isn’t doing, start looking at what they are doing. The more you express gratitude, the happier you’ll be.
It’s so easy to jump to conclusions without having the whole picture. This can be based on past experiences that may have been painful, but it’s important not to let biases creep in. Work on informing yourself before making accusations and remember to communicate. An open approach is always the best approach! GET INFORMED
Keep the love alive If the spark has gone, rekindle it! With the daily grind of work, family and life, our relationships can sometimes come last. It’s easy to put off those things you used to love doing as a couple. Make quality time every week a priority – try a date night or schedule in a favourite pastime, even for just one hour .
THINGS e
My husband and I recently celebrated our third wedding anniversary, and it reminded me of a piece of advice we were given on that special day: “Start as you mean to go on.”
I often think about this because as anyone in a relationship knows, it requires daily work. Love is special and joyous, but it’s not always smooth sailing. You have to weather the storms as a team. By appreciating, listening and loving your other half, you can each nurture your relationship and enjoy many beautiful sunrises and sunsets together. Small way s to stay connected
Don’t take love for granted After the fun-filled first few months, that little thing called routine creeps in and romance can slide away. But saying “I love you” is just as important 50 years down the track as it was in the beginning. Ask yourself when was the last time you told your partner what they mean to you. Do you still speak kindly and politely to your other half? Have you left a handwritten note or small gift lately? Make sure you don’t let the little things slide!
While it’s easy to go and talk things out with your girlfriends, if something matters to you, tell your other half –remember, your partner is not a mind reader. Make a conscious effort and take time to talk honestly, openly and, most importantly, kindly. BE KIND
Work it out With any long-term relationship there will be ups and downs, but empathy, compassion and forgiveness go a long way towards sticking together when the sea gets a little rough. Forgiveness isn’t about being OK with what’s happened, but choosing to move forward.

Don’t get sick this summer Remember to:
Clean
Cook
Chill
Wash hands, chopping boards, utensils and surfaces before and after handling raw meat. Cook meat and poultry thoroughly, until juices run clear. Cover, separate (cooked and raw meat) and chill in the fridge. Don’t leave food out for more than two hours. If in doubt – chuck it out.
