Happy New Year to you all. It is always very hard to write a New Year’s message at the start of December. You need to include all the usual best-wishes, good-luck and thanks-a-lot sentiments as standard, but this year feels a little different. I think we are all hoping and praying for an exceptional December (and a World Cup win!), but mostly, I think a lot of us have much of our attention on what the start of next year will bring to us all, personally and professionally. Certainly this industry is likely to face yet another period of survival, but with the cost of living crisis likely to deepen further, this one feels like it could be tougher than anything we have seen in our life-times,
and that is saying something given the challenges of the last few years. More and more price rises are coming, footfall is set to drop drastically for a few months whilst people recover from Christmas expenditure, driving more drinking in to the Supermarket channel away from the On Trade.
It is easy to list the negatives, but we have to find our way through and focus on the positives. At Small Beer Head Office we are going to try and focus on the things we know we do well, to help you get through as best you can. We are investing in new vehicles and man power to ensure we keep up our exemplary service levels throughout. We
are doubling the size of our cold store facility to ensure we can keep your cask beer fresher for longer and help us all capitalise on this On Trade specific category. We have introduced a new way to pay us called Echo Pay, which will
