On early spring 2015, Loreak Mendian proposed Mugaritz to do something together, to combine gastronomy and fashion. We wanted to offer you a brief recap of this collaboration.

Extracts from the conversation between Víctor Serna (Loreak Mendian founder and designer of the new Menswear collection) and Andoni Luis Aduriz (director and chef at Mugaritz restaurant). These are their thoughts on their collaboration for Spring-Summer 2016:

“ We have always felt the urge to get together with people that we consider to be creative, specially people from other fields because that is very rewarding. Not only for our discourse, but also for the way we see things.”

“Collaborating with people you get on well with takes you to exponential situations... You find people you share values with,people who know where they come from and who are interested in other cultures.

You mix up with them and reach wider objectives.”

There is much more, there’s a lot of background...”

“In fact, that background is important.

In many cases, it helps us to develop the whole idea, it helps us to work. In many cases, the coherence in our work comes from that background.”

“It is the same when we create a menu.

You have to think of the individual ingredients.
