Spring/Summer 2014 is a cool vintage mix for Loreak Mendian. This collection is nostalgic and retro-inspired, but the silhouettes of our new designs place it firmly with the latest trends. Those très chic séjours in Biarritz are the perfect match for crazy days and nights spent on the Californian coast. Loreak Mendian has taken it all and concocted a suggestive combination for its new summer collection. Biarritz and California. These two mythical seaside spots, so chic & cool, were the starting point for Loreak Mendian’s Spring/Summer 2014 women’s collection. The essence, the light, the sunsets and the lifestyle of these two places are the source from which these garments take inspiration. Each location is represented by a distinct colour range – very lively for California, pastel shades for Biarritz. Retro silhouettes, with high waists and tighter clothes, provide the collection with a sweet, vintage touch. But just to find the right balance, there is also an oversize proposal for warm summer days. The period is 1950s-60s: the years in which surf emerged as a lifestyle. Our Spring/Summer 2014 collection for men is based on these aesthetic references. Taking inspiration from early surf culture documents such as Dick Zanuck’s 1956 film ‘The Sun Also Rises’ and from classic surf wear prints (palm trees, stripes, etc.), Loreak Mendian’s collection transports us to a very precise moment in time and space, in the context of a clearly defined philosophy of life.
