There is also a Bus Special importance is attached to religious training. The aim cf the school is to provide a sound education on modern lines, to develop to the full the capacity of every girl, and help her to become a useful and gracious woman in whatever position she may have to fill. Particular attention is paid to Manners and Deportment.
Speech training is an iml)ortant part of the Course of Studies. Ample provision is made for recreation and sl)orts, under the direct supervision of the nuns and of trained games mistresses.
The individual attention which is paid to health and character formation is likely to ensure the best use of the educational advantages offered.
Tile course of studies includes the various branches of a first-class English education, with Modern Languages and class-cs, Mathematics, Science, Plain and Ornamental Needlework, Physical Culture, Sports, Riding, and Dancing. Pupils are prepared for the Intermediate and Leaving' Certificate Examinations of the University of Melbourne.
There are special facilities for Music, vocal and instrumental. Pupils are prel)ared for the various grades of
the University of Melbourne, of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy, and of Trinity College, London. Orchestral and Choral Classes are held weekly. Drawing is taught throughout the school. Bu t Special Classes are formed for girls showing an aptitude for Outdoor the subject. The more advanced pupils work at stud ies from natural objects in Oils or Water Colours. sketching is encouraged.

are held.
Senior gii·ls have the benefit of attending lectu res given under the auspices of the Loreto Reading Circle, an association formed primarily to encourage study of t he Catholic viewpoint in History, Literature and Art. A Finishing Class is to be formed in 1936 for the benefit of Senior Girls desirous of pursuing a course in Art, Every facilit y will be afforded them in these branches,
Literature, Music, and Domestic Arts.
A Kindergarten, fully equipped and under trai ned direction, is successfully carried on as a preparation for entrance into the Junior School.
The school year consists of three terms of t] lirteen weeks each. beginning the second week in February, the first week in June, and the third week in September.
References are required before the admission
of a pupil, also testimonials of good conduct from the last school
attended.
A prize known as "The Lot·eto Spirit Prize"-Senior and Junior-presented by the "Loreto Old Girls' Association," is annually awarded to the girl who by influence and example, in work and play, has contributed most to upholding the traditions of Loreto.
