Store 636 Allegheny Health Wexford is on point with its promotion game! Store Manager Charles Penny’s distinctive store displays and social media posts are getting attention. Charles’ creative approach to store displays is to group like items and create themes, like a Self-Care display featuring Vera Bradley Weekend Bags, clipboards, handcreams, mugs, notebooks, calendars, and other self-care/organizational items. Charles said, “Creating themes and setting your standards high with recovery, branding, and creativity will elevate your displays to the next level.” His advice is to always
keep tables and displays neat and organized, incorporating elevation wherever possible to create depth and volume to draw the customer into the shop.

John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago has been a Lori’s Gifts partner since 1996. Store 81 recently received positive recognition from the Stroger Women’s Auxiliary for making it possible to have murals painted throughout the Women & Children’s Center. Auxiliary Partner, Treasurer, and Coffee Bar Committee Chair Joan Pouleson said, “Lori’s Gifts has been so profitable for our hospital through the gift shop and coffee bar. Cynthia (Wallace) and Ora (Allen) have been amazing to work with. We wouldn’t have these murals without our wonderful partnership with Lori’s.”

The Auxiliary donated all of the artwork that covers the walls of the new Women & Children’s Center. Along with art displayed throughout, several murals welcome young patients to the Center with whimsical images of children swimming with whales, cats and dogs rocketing through space, and dozens of animals gathered to hear a young girl read aloud. Former Stroger Hospital CEO, John Jay Shannon said, “On behalf of the thousands of families who visit us, thank you. We know the cheerful imagery that welcomes our patients will calm fears and promote healing.” The hand-painted murals are an uplifting, lasting visual reminder of the beauty of a strong partnership with Lori’s Gifts.
FIELD LEADERSHIP Valerie Mollick joined the Lori’s Gifts District Managers’ team in September of 2015, after more than 20 years of working in the retail industry, in both boutique and big-box environments. “Lori’s Gifts offered me a completely new and exciting experience; my current role has been the most satisfying and rewarding position in my career,” said Valerie. What Valerie loves about Lori’s Gifts are our guests! She said, “It is an absolute privilege and delight to serve our Healthcare Heroes, hospital patients and their visitors -- this is truly retail with a heart.” Secondly, she loves her talented store managers and team members who share the same passion for helping others and making our gift shops the heart of the hospital!
