PAYROLL DEDUCTION
Payroll Deduction is a popular method of payment that allows a hospital employee to authorize payment for gift shop purchases on the next paycheck. Hospital employees love the convenience of making purchases without having to carry currency. Employee badges are used to verify eligibility and identity. Payroll Deduction is shown to increase gift shop sales by 20% on average, which increases the hospital’s return potential from the shop!
Things to consider with Payroll Deduction are:
• No minimum transaction amount required
• Deductions are taken out of a single paycheck, not spread out
• Each Payroll Deduction receipt provides an accumulated balance for the current pay period so employees know how much they have spent through Payroll Deduction in the gift shop
What’s needed to implement Payroll Deduction:
• Sample badge to verify it will scan through our POS Register
• Current employee census file containing all employees eligible to participate in Payroll Deduction
• Census File (CSV or Excel) includes First Name, Last Name, and Employee Payroll ID (not Social Security number).
• Payroll calendar with the following information:
- Pay dates highlighted
- Payroll period begin and end dates
- Dates Payroll Deduction file is needed from Lori’s
• Our return file of accumulated deductions for the pay period can be made available for download from a secure server or via email
• Accumulated deductions for the pay period will be taken out of the corresponding pay check by Hospital Payroll Depar tment
• Hospital remittance is submitted to Lori’s on a bi-weekly basis
• Remitt ance can be made through ACH, check or credit card (a 2.5% transaction fee will be included for credit card remittance)
• A remitt ance statement with each employee’s name, Payroll ID, and total amount deducted is needed for reconciliation

BREAST PUMP RENTAL PROGRAMS
We have partnered with Medela, Inc. and Ameda to assist new mothers who choose to breastfeed. Both offer high-quality breastfeeding products that are nationally recognized by hospitals, lactation consultants and nurses. A location can select the favored brand to endorse in the gift shop.
Gift Shops can now serve as a Breast Pump Rental location renting the same Hospital Grade Symphony pump used by Mom while in the hospital at only a fraction of the cost. The program is supported by 1-Month or 3-Month Symphony rentals on a contract basis. A Symphony accessory kit is the only other part that the new Mom needs (other pumps and accessory kits are also available).
There are no special requirements to become a Rental location (like water or a sink). All the working parts are self contained in the Accessory Kit so the pump is cleaned off with Cavicide germicidal surface cleaner and is ready for the next customer. Every new customer must have their own Accessory Kit.
Some reasons to consider initiating this program:
• Supports the Lactation Department—provides the same hospital equipment on which new Moms were trained
• Hospital doesn’t have to manage a breast pump inventory or the business side of rentals which require follow ups on late pumps or delinquent payments
• Fast and easy access to equipment—the equipment can be picked up prior to leaving the hospital. The Gift Shop has extended hours for the customer’s convenience
• Provides working Moms with an easy solution for others, such as Dad or a Care Provider to be involved in feedings
• Rental pumps are supplemented with BPA-Free breastfeeding accessories sold in the gift shop. The assortment includes personal use Pump in Style pumps.
• Higher ticket retails for rentals add more store sales dollars

HOSPITAL REQUESTED PRODUCTS
Lori’s has a dynamic team working hard to ensure we have a wide range of products in our stores, but understand there may be specific products that you would like us to offer from time to time. In these instances, all you need to do inform your Lori’s District Manager to begin the process of outlining these products and they will submit the request for approval to their Area Vice-President and to our Product Team.
• Medical devices, supplies
• Hospital logo pads, pens
• Illness-specific personal care items, such as cancer care oral hygeine products
• Diversity-inclusive gifts
• Religion-specific gifts
• Medical field-specific gifts for hospital staff
A doctor on staff published two books, so our partner hospital asked for the gift shop to stock both books. Lori’s hosted a book-signing event to celebrate the author and to launch sales.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
Did you know that in 2021 Lori’s partnered with Susan G. Komen to raise over $30,000 for the fight against breast cancer!
Another great way to raise money for a local cause or initiative is through our “Round Up” program. This will allow hospital visitors and employees the opportunity to “round up” their change when shopping in the gift shop with 100% of proceeds going to your specified cause.
DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE
These are all created to help direct visitors, patients, staff—anyone on the hospital campus—to the gift shop. Signs typically include hours of operation and some of the items available in the gift shop. Signs are sized according to need.
EXAMPLES:
Note
Directional signage can be produced in a size to fit any dimensions specified by the hospital.

TV/LCD MONITOR GRAPHIC
We can provide a TV/LCD Monitor Graphic that can be used on any closed-circuit or other television displays used throughout the hospital to direct visitors throughout the facility to the gift shop. We can also create slides that provide information on the gift shop promotions for the month. These can be sized to fit any monitor dimensions.
NEW EMPLOYEE & NEW PARENT COUPONS
The New Employee coupon is designed to put into New Employee folders or kits distributed to new employees at orientation. The New Parent coupon is designed for special folders or kits distributed to Maternity Patients.
HOSPITAL LOGOWEAR
We can offer a variety of high quality, screen printed and embroidered apparel and promotional items with the hospital logo for sale in the gift shop. In partnership with the hospital, we will take care of merchandise selection and inventory management. All logo merchandise sales go to the gift shop’s bottom line and merchandise is eligible to accumulate Gift Shop Rewards Points.
Our dedicated logo merchandise team member will work directly with the hospital to ensure proper color and logo use and all items must receive approval from the hospital before production. Artwork for hospital logo must be in a high resolution eps, pdf, or jpg format and PMS colors to be used must also be provided.
The logo will be digitized and a sample embroidered logo will be emailed back to the hospital for approval before the order is processed. Some product

HOSPITAL CHARGE ACCOUNTS
Hospital Charge Accounts allow individual departments to charge items in the gift shop as needed. The program allows designated individuals within the department to make purchases in the gift shop on behalf of their specific department. At the end of the month, each department receives an invoice for payment.
Examples of some of our most common hospital charge account departments are:
• Service Recovery Programs • Patient Relations • Nutrition • Auxiliary/Volunteer Services • Administration
• Guest Services • Pediatrics • Human Resources • Nursing • Chaplaincy
Any item sold in the gift shop is available for purchase under a hospital charge program. Lori’s Gift Cards are among the most popular and departments responsible for Service Recovery Programs frequently choose to purchase these gift cards (which are available as a declining balance card from $5 to $500) for patient use.
How it Works
• Complete an enrollment form in the Gift Shop. It includes the name of the department, department contact, contact information, and a list of persons within the department authorized to make charges
• On the 25th of the month, an email is sent from the Lori’s Gifts Corporate Office to the designated contact. This covers the prior month’s charges. The email includes an itemized statement of charges and copies of each individual charge receipt for the prior month
• Payment is made directly to Lori’s Gifts at 2125 Chenault Drive, Suite 100 Carrollton, TX 75006
