LETTER FROM OUR PRES

Famed St. Louis Cardinals Coach/Manager, Tony La Russa said, “A champion team beats with one heart everyone has an important role to play.” Below, Lori’s President Jeff Gloor writes about how our team is winning in 2023:

“2023 has been an exciting year for us as we continue to move away from the impacts of COVID and focus more on serving the needs of our hospital partners, employees, and guests. At Lori’s we know our store team plays an important role in the overall satisfaction and experience of those inside the hospital, regardless their reason to visit.

To help better understand our role, over the past year we conducted comprehensive focus groups with hospital employees, visitors and patients

A WINNING GAME PLAN FOR 2023

to see how their needs have changed and what we can do to make their day a little brighter.

The insights we gained have led us to test/trial several new initiatives aimed at removing stress, relieving exhaustion, and creating time savers for hospital employees as well as address the sense of boredom, offer expanded options, and replace forgotten or lost items for visitors and patients.

In June, we will begin testing these concepts in a number of hospitals across the country and look forward to sharing details in the months ahead. Look for monthly updates in this newsletter and of course, if you see something that you would like to bring to your hospital sooner, please reach out directly to your Lori’s Gifts District Manager to help facilitate your request. We are here to serve!”

FIELD LEADERSHIP

Jessica Brunelle has over 30 years of retail experience, and before coming to Lori’s Gifts, worked as a District Manager for Sally Beauty for 14 years. Jessica became a team trainer and hosted motivational seminars for regional Beauty Advisors. “I found that aspect of my position to be the most rewarding,” she recalls.

Jessica joined Lori’s Gifts in March of 2020, after a 17-year long career with Sally Beauty. She fell in love with Lori’s product selection and shopping environment. Says Jessica, “When I came to Lori’s in March of 2020, I did research on the company and wanted to be a part of a growing retailer that had something different to offer. Lori’s not only has great products and selection, but also provides a place of retreat — a place with a friendly face when a guest needs it the most.”

Jessica says she is reminded each time she walks into our gift shops just how exceptional we are, because the guests that we are privileged to serve daily are so very unique and special in their own way. Being part of an organization that gives back through our “Lori’s Love” program is something that Jessica is very proud of. She stated, “I feel honored to be able to be a part of so many amazing hospitals. I’m truly grateful for the partnerships I have forged, and I look forward to developing many more.”

CONGRATS TO OUR

Lori’s Gifts is thrilled to announce our new “Make Your Mark” Award recipient! Congratulations to Veronica Gomez, Store #499 Manager at St. Luke’s Health Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas.

Lori’s West Region District Manager, Chris Roumelis, received a letter from an MD Anderson cancer patient that praised Veronica’s heart, leadership and customer service for going above and beyond to help her.

A friend and fellow cancer patient gifted her a Lori’s necklace that was later accidentally broken. Veronica searched local stores and located another just like it, and even drove across Houston to pick up the necklace and bring back to St. Luke’s.

The patient said, “My heart was elated to receive the exact same necklace in perfect condition. It now reminds me of the kindness of my friend going through a cancer battle, as well as Veronica’s compassionate heart and her amazing dedication to patients at the hospital. Her heart shines through in her actions and words. She also truly wants to see me win the battle against cancer, and it’s so wonderful to have encouragement from her. She is the ideal employee to have at

a hospital gift shop. She is organized, dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate.” Congratulations and a huge THANK YOU to our May award-winner, Veronica Gomez!
