Today, thanks to the passion and dedication of our store team members across the country, we stand behind that statement as our new Vision for the company to guide us in our mission to serve.”

An exciting initiative that was unveiled during the annual Leadership Summit is “Lori’s Love.” Our team members care so much about their guests, it wasn’t uncommon to hear about them reaching into their own pockets when the opportunity to help someone in need arose. Making those personal connections is at the heart of Lori’s, but in order to ensure employees don’t spend their own money, we created a new monthly process to enable our store teams to help those in need through Lori’s Love. Lori’s Love is the process of performing small acts of kindness with the intention of making the hospitals we serve a better place! To date, we have donated more than $20,000. A small selection of excerpts from those stories can be found below.

EXCERPTS

“When a selfless guest chose a gift for her friend over a snack for herself, Lori’s covered both purchases. There were hugs and many thank yous! For less than $10, we were able to make the day of 2 women! And for that I am grateful that I work with a company that allows us these amazing moments!”

“A visitor confided that he and his wife had just lost a loved one. Our team member helped him find an inspirational gift and put together a beautiful flower bouquet. We took care of the transaction with Lori’s Love. He was over-come with emotion and thanked us. As he was leaving, he put his hands over his heart, thanking us again.”

“A caseworker told us of a terminally ill patient whose last wish was to marry his fiancé’ at the hospital. Our Store Manager quickly made bouquets in the bride’s colors, and cut roses for boutonnieres for the groomsmen. The couple was united. When the caseworker returned to pay, she learned that Lori’s Love had covered the cost. She thanked us for our generosity and compassion, and the couple was grateful their wish came true so beautifully.”

“A team member doggedly tracked down a discontinued doll for an autistic child, creating a special gift basket for her. She used Lori’s Love to take care of the purchase entirely. Mother and daughter were so overwhelmed with joy that everyone was emotional. This act of kindness made a lifelong impression on the family. Thanks for being a world class retailer that puts the Love of others above profits!”

HEARTS AND LIVES

MORE LORI’S LOVE

“A regular visitor received sad news about loved one’s prognosis, and came to the shop in shock. She processed the news as she shopped, finally ready to return to the hospital room. We purchased roses for her to cheer him up. She visited each day the next week for what she called a lift in her spirits.”

“A gentleman came in whose wife who was in an induced coma. He didn’t know if she could hear him or feel his hand, so he found a plush hippo to keep her company while he had to work. Unfortunately, his credit card would not go through. As he was sorting through his wallet. I told him to put away his money because Loris Gifts would like to do something special since he is going through such a hard time. He had tears in his eyes and asked if I was sure. As he walked out, he thanked me again.”

“A patient who had been Careflighted in was alone. Her nurses bought her flowers, puzzle books, snacks and hygiene products. I convinced them to let us contribute as well, and used our Lori’s Love to buy her going home clothes!”

Neonatal Ambulance

Lori’s Gifts partnered with the Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary to raise funds for a new neonatal transport ambulance. Lori’s “Round Up at at the Register” program was deployed at Store 397, and helped raise nearly $1500 in change in just a few months. All funds raised will support the Auxiliary’s efforts to earn $125,000 to purchase the “Miracle 2” ambulance.

Auxiliary Recognition

Lori’s Gifts was honored Sept. 21 at the 69th Annual Auxiliary dinner at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Lori’s team members received gratitude for their support of the Auxiliary, for the gift shop’s excellence, and for making every guest feel warmly welcomed. Lori’s team members provided fun

thanked Lori’s team leaders. Lori’s will also be partnering with the Auxiliary on a new volunteer program that provides real-world, paid job experience to people with disabilities. The hospital will cover workers’ salaries, and Lori’s Gifts will provide training in stocking, pricing, and greeting guests.

Fashion Show Fundraiser

The Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary hosted its Looking Forward Fashion Show on June 5. In addition to being an event sponsor, Lori’s was represented by several team members from area gift shops who attended the fundraiser. Over $25,000 was raised in support of the Looking Forward Program, which directly funds services that help cancer patients cope with the many issues related to their treatment.

Every year, through our strategic BCA campaign, Lori’s raises awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Last year in 2022, Lori’s donated over $40,000 to Susan G. Komen, and we are striving to surpass that amount this year with a goal of $50,000. We are currently at the halfway mark to attaining our goal. In every Lori’s Gift Shop, beautiful pink displays feature high-quality BCA products guests can purchase to show their support for the cause in style. In addition, Lori’s donates 20% of the sales of all Breast Cancer Awareness products to Susan G. Komen, the Dallas-based charity that directs funds towards breast cancer research, screening, treatment, and education. Join us in the fight!

If there are important passion projects within your hospital that you would like for Lori’s to partner with you on, please contact your Lori’s District Manager, and we will find a way to help you help others.
