RAMdom FACT The paid attendance for Saturday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys was 89,140, making it the most-attended preseason game ever to be held in the United States.
Irvine, Calif. - The Los Angeles Rams found themselves down 24-7 heading into halftime of the team’s first preseason contest against the Cowboys before outscoring Dallas 21-0 in the second half to earn the 28-24 win. The Rams’ offense was led by QB Sean Mannion, who completed 18-of-25 of his passes for 147 yards and three touchdowns to finish with a 109.5 QB rating. Mannion’s favorite target was Southern California native WR Nelson Spruce. The rookie receiver snared six passes for 51 yards (8.5 yards/reception) and one touchdown. CREDENTIAL Los Angeles saw RB Malcom Brown rush the ball eight times for 66 yards (8.3 yards/rush) and a touchdown.
The Rams amassed 25 first downs, including 15 through the air, which is more first downs than the Cowboys (13) were able to convert in the entire contest. Additionally, the home team only committed two penalties in the first game of the preseason. The effiency of the Fisher-led team didn’t stop in just the penalty column, his team was able to convert on 42 percent of its third downs and score on all four trips to the red zone. The Rams will take to the road for the final two contests of the preseason as they travel to the Midwest to do battle with the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota Vikings to complete the exhibition schedule.
