Lonely Scribe New book helps mums get to grips with breastfeeeding

ittle Eaton mum-of-three Susan Last is a busy woman. As well as chasing round after her brood of three under six, she runs a small publishing company from her diningroom table and has just launched her new book on breastfeeding entitled Breastfeeding: stories to inspire and inform. Susan had the idea for the book when her first child was a baby and she was struggling with feeding. She began to collect women’s stories, thinking that it would help others if they could read real-life experiences of what breastfeeding was like. More than 20 women’s stories appear in the book, covering topics such as feeding after a C-section, feeding twins, dealing with allergies, going back to work and other common breastfeeding questions. There’s also a helpful introduction that deals with breastfeeding myths that can cause new mums to worry. “I’m now a breastfeeding peer supporter with BEARS in Amber Valley, and I see mums face-to-face at baby clinic and speak to them on our helpline,” explains Susan, who is a firm

believer in supporting mums to breastfeed without preaching to them. “But not everyone has that support when they need it, which is where the book can be really valuable.” With favourable reviews on Amazon and other websites, it looks as though the book will be a great success.
