Lots for Tots Derby
Lots for Tots Derby @LfTDerby
Welcome to Issue 53... Hello! Autumn is here and there is so much to look forward to as we approach a busy period of events including Halloween, Bonfire Night and then Christmas! There are lots of events listed in here, but as venues are still a little cautious I think more will likely be announced and I will be adding these to ‘Lots on Local’ on the Lots for Tots Derby website when they do. Around 1000 of you are visiting the website each week looking for family friendly events, classes and activities in your local area. More people are also now reading this magazine online - so if you haven’t found it yet, search for ‘Lots for Tots Derby’ on issuu.com and you will see this issue and all the previous issues available to read as flipbooks on your internet browser. Remember to follow Lots for Tots Derby on Facebook and Instagram too for the latest stories and announcements. The next issue will be out in January 2022!

Join the Lots for Tots Team! An amazing opportunity to work from home around family and be your own boss
Derby
The Lots for Tots Derby Franchise is for Sale! As spring 2022 will mark the 5th anniversary of my being the Derby franchisee I have decided to move to another role and so Lots for Tots Derby will need a new Editor!
The perfect franchisee would be highly driven to make a profitable success of the magazine and equally as important, get the useful information out to as many parents as possible!
I bought the Derby franchise from Becky, the second Editor of the Magazine in 2017. Without a background in marketing, publishing, graphic design or sales, I have been able to work independantly from home and am solely responsible for all aspects the business including; creation of each magazine, editorial, design of individual adverts, print and distribution of the magazine and invoicing and liaison with businesses and organisations for content. I also maintain the website and look after the social media pages.
The distribution happens 4 times a year (so you will need a car and be prepared to personally deliver to all the nurseries, schools, businesses and organisations in and around Derby). The magazine is quarterly and revolves around school holidays.
If you would like to work from home and are passionate about the magazine and supporting your local area & local parents this job is for you! This opportunity would ideally suit someone with children in Nursery, Pre-School or School as you need time in the day to commit to the business. 4
The franchise is a 5 year contract. You get full training, business manual and continued head office support. All the hard work of setting up the company has been done, so all it needs is the right person with the drive to continue to grow it. After the 5 year term you can renew your contract or sell it on. If you want to create the lifestyle balance of satisfying work fitting in with family life, then please get in touch.

Twistin Tinies Adventures Give your baby the best start! Did you know… Babies are born with a natural ability to appreciate music and early exposure to music plays a crucial part in “wiring” your baby’s brain for learning? Singing songs teaches infants about how language is compiled: when you sing, words, phrases and sounds are slowed and therefore become much easier for your baby to understand. Singing regularly with baby will help them build a vocabulary of sounds and words, long before they can understand their meaning; and undertaking physical activity while singing or listening to music will not only stimulate early language development, but promote attachment and support a baby’s growing spatial awareness.
At Twistin Tinies Adventures, musical activity is combined with sensory and visual stimulation, baby signing and physical interaction. A unique combination of songs, innovative props, developmental activities and 16
light shows help teach your baby key skills and gives them confidence in social situations as they mix with other babies. Both parents and babies love these classes because as well as being developmental, they’re loads of fun! Each week a themed Adventure transports you to an exciting destination; cute dress ups help you to make lasting memories, and our Natural Exploration Area allows baby to play and parents to socialise, swap experiences and make new friends.
Unlike many other baby activities, you don’t have to commit to large blocks of classes – book small or large blocks or even single weeks. And in addition to your face-to-face class, you can access our Private Members’ Area for a host of parenting tips, our weekly baby signs, an Information Topic (weaning and sleep tips, to babyproofing your home and using slings) and a pre-recorded class that you can watch any time at home with baby in order to practise what you have learnt in class.

Back to School in 2021 As a parent, you will already be thinking about your child returning to school for the start of the new academic year. The past 18 months have been full of uncertainties and disrupted education. How is your son or daughter feeling themself? Are they confident they can step back in to school and hit the ground running? Are you worried they might be behind where you would like them to be academically? Would you like to take positive action in this area? The new term in 2021 should deliver a more consistent level of school attendance, as a result of the application of medical science. At Kip McGrath in Derbyshire we understand how you feel. We have worked with children exactly like yours for more than 40 years. Our Kip strategy will result in them taking major strides forward. At Kip, we always set meaningful goals and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons, focused on the students individual needs.
Heanor 01773 718 640 Ilkeston 01159 440 077 www.kipmcgrath.co.uk
Our sessions create confident, independent learners who go on to achieve their highest potential. Is your desire for your child for them to be one of these students back in school? Use the start of a new academic term 2021 to find out how Kip McGrath can help to realise your child’s full potential. It’s a decision that thousands of parents just like you have already taken. Their amazing testimonies provide us with the motivation to continue to change Derbyshire’s young peoples’ lives for the better. “Kip is making a big difference and she’s made really good progress since her lessons started. She’s also moved up in spelling which she’s really happy about.“ “My son has improved 2 years in his reading age in approximately 6 months and has gone from a reluctant reader to a reader who is enthusiastic and confident. I didn’t have the skills to help my son and using Kip McGrath is the best decision I have made in my son’s education.”

Derby Secret Santa 2021 Show Someone They’re Loved This Christmas Derby Secret Santa 2021 is back! Collecting gifts donated from the community, which are then wrapped up, and with the help of the local Ward Councillors, are distributed to the elderly who are alone at Christmas, the Homeless and vulnerable. Last Christmas The Derby Secret Santa Scheme exceeded their targets. Together with the generosity of the public and local businesses they collected, wrapped and delivered over 2500 gifts! That is over 2500 smiles!
Having originally served Mickleover, the cause expanded to Littleover, Heatherton, Mackworth, Hilton and Etwall. This year they are expanding into Allestree, Findern and Castle Donington and need more supporters and more volunteer Elfs! So this is an appeal! - Are you a business, or do you know a business who would like to help? Donations from £50 are greatly appreciated. 30
- Are you a Christmas lover and want to become a DSSS Elf?
There will be a live draw for the Christmas Raffle in early December. please help spread the word far and wide and get as many amazing prizes as we can. All money raised will go towards Derby Secret Santa and show someone they are loved this Christmas. If you would like to donate a worthy prize, get in touch with Natallie on 07947 704 979.

Little Food Explorers Food Exploration Revolution Who would have thought that simply letting children play with food would help them become healthy eaters in the future.
A child’s experience of feeding and eating starts from birth and constantly evolves during the early years. When they use their senses to explore food they learn what they like and don’t like without the pressure of needing to eat it. That process of familiarisation is key to them being more willing to try new foods. Finding time to do this at home can be a challenge… and stressful! The eating environment however has a big impact on a child’s relationship with food and the more relaxed the eating space the more they enjoy their food.
There are a number of ways that you can introduce food play with your child. 1. Involve them in the cooking of the meal, e.g. give them something to squish, mix or roll. 2. Allow them to make some selections for themselves and try to not to actively encourage them to eat certain foods with rewards or pudding. 3. Try, just for a while, not to worry too much about waste, a little waste now will prevent a lot more food waste in the future.
Healthy Intuition offers Little Food Explorer classes that are perfect for introducing your child to a wide variety of foods … and having fun with it! A great chance to connect with other parents about feeding and food choices aswell as letting us take care of the mess!
