Welcome to Issue 8... This year is going so fast! Only feels like two seconds ago I was finishing off the January edition and panicking about getting copies out if there was any snow... and now we are already into the summer months! If the thought of the school holidays has you sobbing into your cornflakes then fear not help is at hand to keep active children busy over those long summer holiday weeks! We’ve got loads of great ideas to make sure the school break is memorable for all the right reasons... summer camps, days out, family fun days and more! We’ve got a fab competition to win tickets to the Robin Hood Game & Country Show taking place in October. Take a look at how to enter on page 7. Now is also a great time to get you and your little one booked onto all the amazing weekly classes taking place in North Nottinghamshire. Remember class places do fill up fast so don’t hang about! We’ve got a great feature on Fox Cycle Tots this issue who help youngsters from 2 years and up to get cycling with balance bikes. Jo started running Foxcycletots sessions because learning to ride using balance bikes is the easiest and least stressful way of getting a tot (or an adult for that matter!) pedalling. “Already an experienced cycling coach it seemed like the next natural step to become a Foxcycletots instructor as well. The sessions are for anyone from the age of two and a half to adult and are a fun and effective way of getting children pedalling and this can be in an hour or less. We run various types of sessions, one to ones as well as small group courses. We will also be providing a service for parties in the not to distant future too! The sessions we run are a fun and colourful way for anyone to learn to ride a pedal bike, we believe that the program also helps to develop a tots confidence, spatial awareness, dynamic balance along with the essential skills to be able to ride

a pedal bike. The sessions and courses use the Early Years Foundation Stages principles to underpin the structure and content of the program. We run courses at Sherwood Pines currently and will be looking to expand to other venues in the future. Our Facebook page always has the up to date information on what we are currently running.”

Katy Patchett and her little boy fell in love with Jo Jingles - now she teaches the classes for you! “Babies can remember melodies they have heard in the womb even a month after they are born, so they are never too young to start benefiting from regular exposure to music. Jo Jingles classes are a great way to start singing and making music. Classes have a perfect mix of instruments, props, singing and dancing to keep babies and children from 3 months to 4 years engaged. Children learn about instruments and different ways of playing it together. I’m a trained music teacher but fell in love

with Jo Jingles after taking my little boy along. Now I’ve been teaching classes myself for four years! As well as classes, I offer exciting and personalised birthday parties and playgroup, preschool and nursery sessions.
