Kids love yoga and our yogaberries classes are great fun. We use stories, songs, games and lots of ‘let’s pretend’. We sing, we dance, we bend, stretch and breathe, while all the time developing self-awareness, strength and co-ordination. Toddlers may be small but they can do lots of yoga poses which make use of their natural flexibility. It’s a fantastic age to start yoga and a wonderful preparation for their future growth and development.

Some parents have described their children as having “ants in their pants” because they fidget so much at school and at home, this causes problems with concentration and attention and quite often your child can be labeled “the challenging one” as she/he appears to not be listening or disinterested. As we know this can impact on handwriting, reading, spelling, sports, going to children’s parties and staying interested in things. I believe that the approach I use supports children to not only become confident with skills at school and in other environments with an increase in their being able to attend and listen, but also increases their confidence to want to learn and enjoy what they are doing. As a qualified Rhythmic Movement Consultant I have studied the importance of settling primitive and postural reflexes

to help children grow. Messages need to work across both sides of our brain to help with learning, focusing, attending and concentrating on every day activities, when reflexes are present there can be a block to development. After an initial assessment I will tailor make a calming movement based programme to meet your child’s specific needs aiming to settle any existing reflexes improving function. I have been working in a clinic in St Albans but will be moving to the Midlands aiming to start working in January. Some of the comments from parents have been:

Major Oak runs 3 age specific sports coaching sessions, exclusively designed by our team of child care  professionals and sports coaches.  Our toddler sessions predominantly focus on core motor skills  development (balance, agility and co‐ordination) by gradually introducing a wide range of sporting  games and equipment.  From there, our Little Acorn sessions build on these skills with the introduction  of new and exciting sports as well as focussing  on valuable life skills such as listening, communication,  sharing and taking in turns.
