Greetings from the Team at Lotus Gardenscapes Looking back: Lotus in 2013 INTERIOR PLANTSCAPE KICKOFF LOTUS FEATURED PROJECT LOOKING FORWARD: 15% OFF WINTER DESIGNS!
News From Guido Dear Customers & Friends: You might expect that Lotus is quieting down for winter, but inside our offices we have a fire going and our noses leaned over designs, planning for the upcoming months! 2013 has wrapped up extremely well for Lotus. Our field crews recently buttoned up shop for winter, finishing their last tasks until spring and closing down the Lotus yard. Project supervisors Brian, Leo, and Dan worked tirelessly with their crews to finish strong. The office staff was out there, too! Company founder and owner Guido and Project Manager Jeff Findley were out working shoulder to shoulder with the crews. They all braved December’s very cold snap, installing steel edging, dry bed streams, boulder walls, and woodwork until the very end. We can’t say enough how hard everyone worked pulling together to complete our last few projects! See more about them later in this newsletter. Now that our final push of outdoor work is completed, we’re thinking ahead to our winter plans and on to next spring. Our interiorscapes team, led by Senior Designer Sarah Stalker, recently installed the first Lotus interior project, which will bring a beautiful, colorful plant display to our new clients all winter long. We’re excited to have officially kicked off this segment of our company and to see where it leads us. Our designers are thinking outdoors, too. We have designs in the works and lots of projects ready to install first thing in spring! Finally, we have some exciting news to announce - Lotus has received a Landscape Design & Installation award from the Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association! The award-winning project, designed by Guido, was inspired by mountain scenery and features sculptural rock elements, a boulder fountain, and a sleek green wall of lush plants. Read on to see more details and photographs of this issue’s featured project! As always, feel free to call or email to hear more about what we’re up to and to schedule a free consultation for your landscape, indoors and out.
Best, Guido & the Lotus Team

O
ur outdoor landscape is not only an extension of our homes but also of our personalities and lifestyle. For this bustling, energetic downtown residence, the designers at Lotus worked with our client to develop a very modern design which combines simple architectural elements with lush plants and natural stones + boulders.
T
his project was designed + installed during summer 2013 and focused on three separate but related components: front yard beds, back yard water feature, and an outdoor room with a green wall as a focal point. The designers found inspiration in Buddhist mythology’s paired symbols of lake + mountain.
B
ringing the green wall to life was a project in itself; the designers at Lotus partnered with a local nursery to source shade-tolerant, texturally-interesting plants and grow them in over months prior to installation. These specimens were set into an eye-catching custom frame that brings the entire design together beautifully. Altogether, the completed work is a gorgeous, liveable, and contextual outdoor space.
Just a few of the focal points in this beautiful downtown project!
