The acquisition of Gangga Island Resort & Spa in Sulawesi in 2001 has resulted in the development of the surrounding area in total respect of the environmental code and of fair social practices. Several cultural, social and environmental projects have been developed in collaboration with the local community living in the nearby villages. In fact, a system of garbage collection and waste management was set up in order to monitor the impact of the resort and the villages on the island. What is more, Gangga Island Resort & Spa contributed to the building of schools and the kindergarten, it set up environmental education classes addressed to children and it now provides financial support to local teachers. Over the years scholarships awarded have allowed many children to attend higher education in Sulawesi, other areas of Indonesia and abroad. Gangga Island Resort and Spa is today a reference point for scuba-diving sustainable practices and has achieved the PADI Project AWARE "Go ECO" Operator status in 2009. Beside official awards, Lotus Hotels has supported several environmental pioneer projects such as coral restoration and reef enhancement programs in Sulawesi, in Bali and in the Gili islands (Lombok) that have led to the development of the Biorock project, an innovative method that enhances coral growth through electricity. Furthermore, Lotus Asia Tours' and Lotus Hotels' environmental commitment has led to important long-term collaborations with non-profit organizations based in Indonesia and involved in conservation projects, such as Turtle Unlimited and The Gili Eco Trust just to mention a few.

In 2011 a MOU was signed with this organization actively involved in raising awareness and sense of responsibility towards forest conservation and the protected wildlife therein. Not only part of the sales profit made on eco-tourism is allocated to the S.O.S., but this partnership also involves tight collaboration in the development of eco-tourism and awareness projects both in Bali and Sumatra. Depart in the morning for a short hike in the rice fields around Ubud to experience the tropical nature of Bali and to see villagers in their daily traditional activities. After the trek proceed to visit the Sumatran Orangutan Society Jungle Shop in central Ubud to learn about the organization's activity. In 2011, LAT signed a MOU with this organization, strongly active in increasing awareness towards forest conservation and promoting the orangutan as the ambassador for Indonesian rainforest. The jungle shop in Ubud, Bali, is the Balinese headquarters of the organization. S.O.S. staff will introduce visitors to the activities of the Sumatran Orangutan Society through some interactive activities that will allow them to learn more about Indonesian endangered species and rainforest. Set in the heart of the Tabanan Regency in Bali, the Jatiluwih rice fields have been named a UNESCO Cultural Landscape. Lunch is served in local panoramic restaurant (Altitude m.800 above sea level). After lunch we will head to Bedugul village, to visit Pura Ulu Danu Beratan Water Temple on Beratan Lake. (Altutude m. 1.200). Your journey continues to Munduk village. A short hiking into the rain tropical forest will lead you to Munduk Waterfall. Finally we will reach the sacred hot springs Air Panas of Banjar set in the middle of the jungle in a beautiful tropical garden. Locals come here to enjoy a bath in the warm and sulphurous water. The journey finishes at the black sandy beaches of Lovina. Overnight is in Lovina. Day 2: LOVINA – CANDIDASA (B/L) Breakfast in hotel. We start our journey with the visit of the local market in Buleleng. We will then head to Sangsit and Kubutambahan villages to visit the temples Pura Beji, dedicated to the Goddess Dew Sri who protects the rice fields, and Pura Meduwe karang, dedicated to Ibu Pertiwi who protects the dry fields. We continue our journey to Kintamani to admire the panorama over the crater of the mount Batur. Lunch at local panoramic restaurant. (Altutude m. 1.300). In the afternoon, we will visit the well-known complex of Besakih temples, the most important and biggest temple in Bali. The temple was built in the XI century at 1000m of altitude on the slopes of mount Agung, the sacred volcano of Bali. The last stop will be at Putung, the most spectacular panoramic view of the island. Overnight is in Candidasa Day 3: CANDIDASA – UBUD (B/L) Breakfast in hotel. Our first stop of the day will be in Goa Lawah, a natural cave dwelt by thousands of bats. We will drive through Balinese villages: Sidemen and Tebola to see majestic views of some of the most spectacular rice fields of Bali, and Rendang village to admire more beautiful sceneries. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, we will proceed to visit Pura Kehen, a beautiful Hindu temple located on a wooded hillside, in Cempaga's village, north of Bangli Regency. One of greatly attracts attention in the temple is a big old Banyan Tree that has been here for over 700 years. We will then visit Penglipuran, a traditional countryside village owning unique characteristic life, socializing and culture. Our last stop of the day will be at Pura Tirta Empul, the holy spring water Temple located in Tampak Siring village. The overnight is in Ubud Day 4: UBUD – TANAH LOT (B/L) Breakfast at hotel. Depart to the village of Batubulan to watch the famous Barong dance, a pantomime dance symbolizing the eternal fight between good and evil spirits. After the dance, the tour goes on with the visit of the three main artist's villages of Bali: the village of Celuk famous for its gold and silver smiths; the village of Mas, where local residents create the beautiful wood-carving, finally the village of Ubud well-known for its art galleries. We will visit a fine oil painting gallery with its unique style. Then we will go to the sacred Monkey Forest of Ubud, a nature reserve and temple complex. Lunch at Local restaurant. THE MAJESTIC VOLCANO AND BARONG DANCE TOUR Your journey takes you first to Batubulan where you will see the exciting Barong Dance. A traditional storytelling dance that portrays the eternal struggle between good and evil. We continue to Tegallalang, one of the most beautiful rice terraces in Bali and to Sebatu, the Holy water temple. BESAKIH Full day tour to the breathtaking area of Mount Gunung Agung . On the way, we visit the traditional Balinese village of Penglipuran positioned at 700m of altitude and then proceed to Besakih, the most important and biggest temple of Bali. The temple was built in the XI century at 1000m of altitude on the slopes of mount Agung, the sacred volcano of Bali. Lunch at local restaurant with beautiful view of Bukit Jambul hills. After lunch we proceed to visit the incredible painted ceilings of the old Klungkung's palace of justice “Keragosa”.

EAST OF BALI After an optional stop for silver jewelry, we proceed towards the city of Klungkung, to visit "Kerta Gosa", the royal palace of justice built in the 18th century. You can admire the ancient frescos that show a variety of the old methods of punishment. We continue along the coast past typical fishermen's villages and salt production to the old village of Tenganan, situated at the foothills of majestic Mount Agung. This village is home to the "Bali Aga", the original Balinese tribe and it is well known for its hereditary traditions, mysteriously well kept secret behind the village walls since hundreds of years. Enjoy your lunch at beachfront "Lotus Seaview" restaurant. In the afternoon, we continue on the panoramic roads overlooking the blue ocean and return back home on winding roads through shining rice paddies at the slopes of Mount Agung.

We travel along coastal road of Mount Rinjani and through the wild tropical forest, monkey's reign and Natural Park. Some stops will be made during the tour where you may take some pictures and admire the panoramic view of the white islands. Lunch is served picnic style at a simple fisherman’s home near the beach. Fish fresh from the ocean is grilled and served with rice, potatoes, a selection of fruit and soft drinks. The day is yours to enjoy being on the picture-perfect paradise beaches until till around 4:30pm when we head back to hotel Cocotinos. Check-in and overnight at Cocotinos. Day 4 (B L) Morning H/D panoramic tour of the North/West coast. The first stop is at the tip of Malimbu from which you can see the three islands of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. We will continue until Pandanan from which you can admire the Rinjani volcano (3726 m). Then we will come down to the fishing village of Teluk Kombal where fishermen live in stilt houses on the beach to protect themselves by the high tide and still fish with traditional methods. From the fishing village we will reach the rice paddies of Pemenang at the foot of Mount Rinjani and you will cross the Monkey Forest until the tip of Pusuk. We proceed coming down the hill, skirting the river up to the spice market of Sideman where during the morning it is possible to see the processing of sugar palm. On the way back stop at Gunung Sari Traditional village (processing of bamboo). A nice lunch will be served in Senggigi area, at Lotus Bay View Restaurant, and later back to hotel Cocotinos for relax. Ovenight at Cocotinos. Day 5 (B) Transfer out to Lombok airport.

Amankila - Three-tier Pool Set in East Bali overlooking the vast sweep of Lombok Strait, Amankila ('peaceful hill') is a cliff-side beach resort. Thirty-three suites enjoy spectacular sea and coastal views and connect by elevated walkways to the main facilities. Centring the resort, a three-tiered swimming pool mirrors Bali's overlapping rice terraces.
