July: The Continued Rise of the Feminine

The New Moon in Cancer falls on July 4th, Independence Day in the United States, birthday of the USA. The Sun and Moon are joined by Mercury and Venus in the sign of Cancer, creating what is called a Stellium, a grouping of planets in the same sign. This means that on the day of the Cancer new moon, there will be a lot of energy in the sign of Cancer. Cancer is considered the sign of the mother. It can be described as nurturing, sensitive, domestic, and fertile, but also evasive, moody, and smothering. A Stellium in Cancer brings up the concept of family and family relationships, and what those mean on an individual as well as collective level. When the moon is new in Cancer, we are urged to take responsibility for our feelings, be vulnerable, and to find positive expression for our emotions. Cancer seeks security, both for itself and for those it loves. What is it that helps you feel secure? What is it that gets in the way of that? How do you define family? Who is considered family to you? How might your family relationships heal or be healthier? On July 4th, the Moon forms one point of a Grand Trine; Mercury, the Moon, the Sun, and Venus 8

LOTUS MOON

in Cancer, Mars in Scorpio, and Chiron in Pisces, all in the water signs with a Kite connecting the emotions to Jupiter in Virgo. The new moon Stellium in Cancer is opposed by Pluto in Capricorn, calling us to go deep into our own architecture and look at what is sustaining us and what isn’t, particularly with regard to those in our inner circle and closest to us. The mutable T-Square, Jupiter in Virgo, Saturn in Sagittarius, and Neptune in Pisces, is still in play, urging us to get more deeply in touch with what is true for us, what helps us to stand in our truth, and what doesn’t. Another T-Square with transformative Pluto in structured Capricorn, rebel Uranus in warrior Aires, and Aphrodite Venus in nurturing Cancer fuels a focus on the evolving view of and re-balancing of the Feminine and Feminine Power. We are being urged to balance and learn the value of being soft and strong at the same time. The old, masculine ways of war and conquering are dying, and little by little the Feminine continues to gain strength and momentum. Also prominent on July 4th is an astrological shape called a Mystic Rectangle, which connects the Stellium in Cancer to Jupiter in Virgo, Pluto in Capricorn, and Neptune in Pisces, with Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto and Mercury/the Sun/the Moon in opposition with one another. Oppositions and squares are tense energies that spur us into action. Pluto opposing the moon requires us to be honest about our feelings compared to what we want to feel. Neptune opposite Jupiter, tied into the mutable T-Square, asks us to step outside the box and create new dreams, if the ones we have been living in aren’t quite what we

want to see. It’s possible that we won’t be sure of what we want to see, but we will be able to get clear on how we want to feel. The New Moon falls at 12 degrees Cancer and will be felt more intensely if you have planets, or sensitive points, at 12 degrees Cancer, Aries, Capricorn, or Libra. The Full Moon in Capricorn falls on July 19th at 27 degrees Capricorn/Cancer. The Grand water Trine is still in place with Mars in Scorpio, the Sun in Cancer, and Chiron in Pisces, and a Kite to the moon in Capricorn. The Mutable T-Square is still in place, and there is a T-Square with the Moon in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries, and the Sun in Cancer. This looks more like Independence Day than July 4th did. We will be a lot clearer on what we need to see in order to live the life we have been dreaming of, and will be ready to take action. Communications could be feisty as the Sun is preparing to leave the waters of Cancer and step onto the stage of Leo. Mercury and Venus are already in Leo forming a challenging aspect with Neptune--this will be a good day for creative expression. Artists, authors, and other creative individuals, express yourself to release the tensions of the day. Or, if you’re sensitive to the full moon energies, take a nap and pay attention to your dreams for inspiration. Late degree Full Moons are times of integration, and depending on how completely you have done your work in the ambitious and enterprising realm of Capricorn, you may feel either a sense of completion and satisfaction, or a sense of intensity as you tie up loose ends of your Capricorn work. If you are familiar with your natal chart, look at the house 27 degrees Capricorn

falls in to get an idea of what area of life this plays out in. Venus in Leo moves the continued rise of the feminine to center stage, and Venus paired with Mercury is sure to have a lot to say while the world’s eyes are upon her.

August: Integration and Self-Expression The fiery New Moon at 10 degrees Leo on August 2nd forms a harmonious connection with Saturn in Sagittarius. Saturn wants us to get things right, so we can call on Saturn to help us set New Moon intentions involving self-love, self-expression and personal leadership. What do we want to be recognized for and how do we want to be recognized? Are there any choices we’ve made or actions we’ve taken that are getting in the way? How can we do a better job both as leaders in our own lives or as leaders of groups we are a part of? Look for where 10 degrees Leo lands in your chart, the house it falls in will help you pinpoint the area of your life where you can set your New Moon intentions. The Full Moon on August 18th falls at 25 degrees Aquarius/Leo, another late degree Full Moon like that of July’s. To add to this Full Moon’s potential intensity, it is also a Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses are times of sudden change, and often, things that have been hidden are brought to light. In the case of a Lunar Eclipse, what comes to light is often something we have been doing under the radar for some time. A negative example would be an affair. A positive example could be publishing a manuscript you have been quietly submitting to publishers. Positive or negative, what gets LOTUS MOON

is shifting toward cleaning up after the summer fun, and we feel a pull to get our affairs in order for the upcoming change of the seasons. Mercury will station retrograde in Virgo, the sign that it rules, on August 31st, urging us to revisit, revise, redo, reconnect, and redirect as needed. Old issues may resurface to be re-addressed. People from the past might come into your life once again. Communication generally becomes more challenging. Plans may change at the last minute. If you have any health issues that you have been ignoring, go to the doctor. Take this Mercury Retrograde period to go inward, focusing on what you can reorganize to become stronger and more efficient. Mercury will be retrograde in Virgo until September 22nd.

September: The Rubber Meets the Road

revealed is truth and needs to be known for the sake of your personal growth. Those with planets and key points at or near 25 degrees Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio will likely feel the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse more intensely. Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter form a Stellium in Virgo, shifting the energy toward Virgo matters, health, 10 LOTUS MOON

and service, and are opposed by wounded healer Chiron in Pisces. Astrological energies are encouraging us to balance mind, body, and spirit as we celebrate the height of the summer season and all it has to offer. At 25 degrees, the Sun is preparing to leave the spotlight-loving sign of Leo and enter the service-oriented sign of Virgo. Energy

September holds two New Moons. The first occurs on September 1st at 9 degrees Virgo, and coincides with a Solar Eclipse. While the sun is obscured, your feelings will be brought to the surface. This could mean that something you have been patiently enduring will finally become too much and you will finally be ready for change. Wand Neptune in Pisces is tied completely into the mutable T-Square that has been in place most of the year. What this means is that whatever has been building up over many months will be ready to be released, or unleashed, as the case may be. Jupiter is getting ready to leave Virgo for Libra, adding to the sense of, and desire for, imminent chang-

es. These energies will be felt more intensely by those with planets or sensitive points at 9 degrees Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, and Gemini. On September 16th, the Full Moon falls at 24 degrees Pisces/Virgo and coincides with another Lunar Eclipse. Once again, whatever has been hiding beneath the surface will be brought to light. Like before, this can be positive or negative depending on the integrity of your walk. If you have access to your natal chart, look for what house 24 degrees Pisces falls in to give you an idea of what area of life you will experience this Solar Eclipse. Anyone with planets or sensitive points at 24 degrees Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius will feel these energies more intensely. In terms of juiciness, this day is even juicer than the New Moon and Solar Eclipse on September 1st. Jupiter has entered Libra drawing focus to partnerships and balance, and the Sun is preparing to make it’s way into Libra as well. Mercury is still retrograde in Virgo and opposed by wounded healer Chiron with the Moon in Pisces. Warrior Mars has a lot of tense aspects pressing on it and when pressure is applied, there is a need to act or act out, depending on your level of awareness. On September 30th, we are gifted with a second New Moon, a healing moon. This moon lands at 8 degrees Libra and does not coincide with an Eclipse. With the Sun, Moon and Jupiter in beauty and balance seeking Libra, you will be able to equalize and find a new normal coming out of the summer eclipse season. The Sun and Moon form a square to Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, requiring us to take a look at the metaphorical structures that

crumbled during the Eclipses. A gentle aspect to structured Saturn in Sagittarius will help us make sense of what we see and figure out how to build a new, stronger structure that will support us in the future. What has fallen away, needed to, and we move forward with an eye toward beauty and balance, courtesy of the New Moon in Libra. In your natal chart, look for the house 8 degrees Libra falls in to help you pinpoint what area of your life to focus your New Moon intentions on. A little more about the sign of Cancer. Cancer is the, “I feel” sign. A cardinal water sign with a negative polarity, its symbol is the crab and its ruling planet is the Moon. Its colors are silver and any soft shades, and it rules the breasts, stomach, and solar plexus. It can be described as fertile, domestic, nurturing, emotional, sensitive, evasive, and moody. A little more about the sign of Leo. Leo is the, “I will” sign. A fixed fire sign with a positive polarity, its symbol is the lion and its ruling planet is the Sun. Its colors are gold and scarlet, and it rules the heart and spine. The sign relates to be power, leadership, generosity, creativity, dramatic, enthusiasm. A little more about the sign of Virgo. Love & Joy Creating Higher Vibrations with Essential Oils

W

hen we create an uplifting atmosphere around ourselves with positivity and high-energy vibrations, our mood improves. These higher vibrations make us feel light and happy, like we are capable of accomplishing anything. When we feel unloved, disconnected or sad, our energy vibrations lower bringing our mood down. Lower vibrations can hold us back 12 LOTUS MOON

and keep us stuck in a depressed and emotionally negative state, causing us to feel physically and emotionally drained. Finding a way to release these negative feelings allows the body to once again reach for positive emotions and a higher vibration, helping us feel physically uplifted. In aromatherapy, essential oils are used to improve mental capacity and heighten emotional wellbeing. They are used to balance emotions

and calm fears bringing about feelings of serenity and peace. Essential oils have the ability to release negative emotions and magnify feelings of love and joy, elevating your energetic vibrations. Essential oils will not fix emotional blockages or negative thought patterns, but they will aid you in releasing those feelings to help you move forward. Diligently using essential oils will help you create a solid and positive foundation for

improved mental health. Rose essential oil resonates with a high energetic vibration making it a powerful healer of the heart. Not only does it help encourage selflove, but teaches us the essential need for Divine-love during the healing process. Once we accept who we are and learn to love ourselves, we can experience greater satisfaction in our everyday lives. If you feel a lack of acceptance, are having a hard time opening your heart, or are suffering from a broken heart, rose essential oil can help you heal and restore your personal authenticity, inner wholeness and clarity. When the heart is full, open and healed, it is able to give and receive genuine love. These feelings of love then flow freely within you and create a foundation of higher vibration energy. Similar to rose, geranium essential oil nurtures our interest in loving connections, and restores our confidence in others and the world after trust has been broken. Geranium oil assists us with emotional honesty, love and forgiveness. By encouraging emotional honesty, it also encourages the release of suppressed pain that aids the re-opening of hearts so love can flow freely. Another powerful remedy for the heart is Ylang Ylang essential oil. It can help you reconnect with your inner-child, and the pure, simple ways of your heart. Buried feelings are brought to light with the assistance of this essential oil, and it can also increase feelings of joy. It reminds us that joy can be felt and experienced by allowing the heart a full-range emotions. Use Ylang Ylang to reduce feelings of grief, sadness and joylessness--letting go of these lower-vibrational energies to improve your mental and physical-self.

To use, diffuse four to six drops of these essential oils in your home or office for an all-day reminder to accept love and joy into your life. Before meditating, place a few drops in your hands and on the bottoms of your feet, then inhale the aroma by cupping your hands over your mouth for a few moments. Focus on any negative emotions or feelings of powerlessness that need releasing, and inhale the essential oil aroma to empower your belief in yourself. Keep a journal of your progress and the reactions you have as you work with each essential oil. Repeated use will help you continue releasing suppressed emotions as you raise your energetic vibration. The more you use essential oils to assist you in releasing, healing and boosting your vibrations, the greater connection you will develop with particular scents to help you achieve the emotional healing you seek.

Sunstruck

S

unstruck is about as far from starstruck as you can get. A starstruck person is blinded by the brilliant and magnetic attraction of a passing star, while someone who is sunstruck probably doesn’t feel very good and may well be very ill because they have spent too much time under the sun. As we prepare for the summer solstice here in Phoenix AZ, the temperatures have already blasted past 115˚ in the shade. Sometimes in the desert, all you can do is feel grateful to be able to draw the drapes and insulate yourself from the blinding heat. Conserving energy becomes the imperative, an ironic notion considering how much energy the sun generates. As I chill from the heat my mind starts to drift and my mental wanderings, as they often do, lead me to the Tarot. I’ve studied tarot for a few years now and consider my practice to be more like research. When I want to know more, I consult my library drifting between books and my three decks of cards. I’m in the habit of starting my inquiries with the Rider Waite deck. My deck features the 1909 imagery of Pamela Colman Smith who’s art deco motifs reflect the aesthetic and ethos of the time. I shuffle through the deck and pull out The Sun. The card is numbered 19 and is the 20th card in the Major Arcana. Beyond its number, I wonder 14 LOTUS MOON

what I can learn from the Sun. How can it amplify other cards in a spread? What is the pace of the card? What colors predominate? The face of the sun on the card fills a full third of the image, and below its blank expression a row of sunflowers crowd the horizon. They rise from a man-made planter and crown the head of the fool who appears in the guise of a toddler. She is naked as the day she was born except for the sunflowers and a red plume in her hair. The child rides a white horse appearing to move toward the reader at a steady pace. When The Sun appears in a reading, it is a confirmation that it’s your time to shine. It tells us

to turn toward the light, like the heliotropic sunflowers, to absorb it’s life-giving energy. When we move into the innocent joy that sustains and illuminates our paths, we feel the Sun—becoming the Sun as we shine in harmony with its light. That could explain why, every time I draw the Sun, I get a song stuck in my head, “Here comes the sun, dah da dah da, its alright, dah da da dah da da, dahdadada da…” The Beatles were onto something—the coming of the sun offers promise of a new day. Morning sun brings with it a renewing energy reminding us that we can be born again, even as we age. Dawn is such a special time of the day it’s become a verb. When was the last time something dawned on you? The capacity of the rising sun as a metaphor for bringing insight and joy is most directly illustrated in my second deck, The Ghetto Tarot. Here the fool is played by a young boy who smiles broadly. The Ghetto Tarot’s radiant fool wears the red flag as a cape tied around his neck like a superhero. In his left hand he grasps the head of a toy horse and pushes his right fist into the air. This kid is putting some speed behind the fool in his energetic glee. By demonstrating the energy of the sun, he encourages us to grow beyond our bad habits in celebration of the good ones. The Ghetto Tarot was created by Belgian photographer Alice

in Phoenix

Smeets. Inspired by her experiences in Haiti, Smeets collaborated with the artists collective Atis Rezistans from the ghettos of Port au Prince. In 2015, they initiated an Indiegogo

political decision to, “…break stereotypes by moving away from the clichéd images of poverty, illustrating the spirits and meanings of the cards with a touch of humor in the middle of the slum, and showing colored people on the traditional, old European cards to break stereotypes,” explained Smeets. The Ghetto Tarot’s subjects take on character through expression as they regard each other and the reader. The models self-consciously demonstrate humor, fierceness, joy, suffering and many other emotions. How we read that emotion depends on who is asking and what the questions are. For me, the relatability of The Ghetto Tarot resides in Smeets’ medium, photography. It invites us into her world through the camera’s lens. The documentary-style of the photographs is not as objective as one would think, instead, the camera’s presence is disruptive in a productive and positive way. Like all good tarot cards, the photos from The Ghetto Tarot are small treasure maps, which hold new surprises every time I look at them. The Minor Arcana cards are not numbered and I enjoy hunting for the cups, machetes, coins and brooms, some of which are on fire! campaign to fund the project. It is said that a photograph speaks a thousand words. If that is true, would an abstract work of art speak millions? My third deck, The BEAROT, is as inviting as my others yet it’s style is radically different. The graphic quality of the BEAROT flattens the iconography of the Rider Waite deck. Instead of pictures or drawings of people throughout the deck, there is only one figure on the 16 LOTUS MOON

behind The BEAROT, collaborated with skilled tarot reader Naha Armády to build the deck. As part of the design, they assigned each Major Arcana card a bear-name. They named the Sun “Bearing All” as a reminder that the energy from the sun is makes all life possible. What’s different about the BEAROT deck, beyond the wordplay and abstract graphics, is each card offers concrete actions to affect change in the prevailing circumstances. Tara said she likes how tarot can speak to the contours of a situation, but that readings always leave her wanting remedies. Instead of simply describing the conditions of a situation, she wished to offer us actions to take in response to those conditions. The Bearing All card guides you to, “Let yourself shine in all your glory! Magnetize positivity to yourself – materially, emotionally, and spiritually. Things which were previously hidden are now revealed, trust what you see.” Although the three decks depict The Sun card through different mediums and with slightly different understandings, the energy of the card remains consistent. As we begin summer and our days fill with sunlight, remember the spiritual significance of the Sun as it is explained in the tarot. No matter what troubles arise or obstacles you are faced with, the light always prevails. We can cards, the outline of a teddy bear. The red flag seen on The Sun card always count on the sun’s delightful warmth after a storm, and life is in my other two decks is depicted as a ribbon stuck in two dimensions no different. Allow your light to be energized by the Sun this summer, with symbols and shapes in muted and let your joy radiate like the colors rhythmically arranged. SOLAR PLEXUS Our Life Force, Our Bodily Sun

T

his past Spring has been rough for many of us. Spiritual and physical purging, and revisiting and reviewing of things from our past has been rampant due to five planets being retrograde at once. When planets are retrograde they appear to move backwards in the sky. This time of retrograde gives us an opportunity to revisit aspects 18 LOTUS MOON

our lives that need help; it can be a heavy time. How can we generate new energy for ourselves with all this backward energetic motion from the planets? We need look no further than within ourselves, to our Solar Plexus chakra. Located between your sternum and belly button, this chakra is your engine of life force. The Solar Plexus chakra, or 3rd chakra, is

where you access your inner drive. When it is active you have a zest for life. It radiates a golden glow and is the hub of creativity, innovation, self-confidence and courage. It is where your true-self shines and where you experience a state of joy. The Solar Plexus is also where you summon perseverance from, and the strength to get through any situation. Your third chakra enables

you to face tremendous difficulty and pain while still experiencing joy. In the book Just How To Wake The Solar Plexus, Elizabeth Towne writes, “There is a real sun center in us, the Solar (or Sun) Plexus. This is a great nerve center situated in back of the stom-ach. When this central Sun, from which all the nerves of the body radiate, is in its normal condition, it steadily radiates a real energy, just as the sun does. This energy vibrates through the nerve highways and by-ways of the body out toward the surface of the body in all directions…and is thrown off in a real halo or atmosphere, which always envelops the body. If this radiation from the Solar Plexus is positive enough, the influence of another person cannot disturb its steady, harmonious vibrations in the least.” Like all chakras, the Solar Plexus chakra can become unbalanced creating a disturbance in your life force. An under-active or blocked 3rd chakra feels heavy. Sluggishness, depression and a lack of drive can be signs of an unbalanced or closed Solar Plexus chakra. When this chakra is in an over-active state problems such as anxiety, stress, addiction to dramatic situations or aggressive behavior can present themselves. Keeping this energy center balanced and open is vital to ensuring you have the confidence and energy to thrive without burning out. This area of your body is also connected to your emotional core. It’s where you feel that ‘gut instinct’ feeling that is often one of your intuition’s loudest voices. Activating the Solar Plexus chakra can have unexpected side effects. It is where we store unprocessed emotions, I was once told it’s where

we store all our un-cried tears, so if you’re working on this energy center and you suddenly become very sensitive or experience episodes of emotional release, go with it. Let it all come up and out so these emotions do not rule you from behind the curtain, so-to-speak. You can cultivate a healthy Solar Plexus chakra in many ways. One way is through candle gazing. Candle Gazing can help you visualize and connect with your chakra as the Solar Plexus is associated with the element of fire. Think about the nature of fire as you gaze into a candle’s flame. How is helpful? How can it be harmful? We must learn to harness its power in constructive ways, because just like your Solar Plexus chakra, this powerful energy can too easily turn destructive if not kept balanced. While you are candle gazing, imagine your Solar Plexus chakra as a steady flame. Feel its warmth and strength. Try playing with its intensity. See if you can visualize it growing brighter and dimmer,

always bringing it back to a moderate level. This will give you a feeling of empowerment. Meditate on this feeling and be sure to write down any experiences you have during you candle gazing sessions. Another great way to foster a healthy Solar Plexus chakra is to consciously focus on positive thinking. This is something that gets easier the more you practice. Begin with one thing that is positive in your life and add more as you become comfortable with yourself. Think about one good thing that happened to you today instead of focusing on that which upset you. With enough practice, you can retrain your brain to see much more positivity in your life. If we tune in, evaluate how we’re processing our emotions, engage in healthy release, empower ourselves, and refocus our energy on positivity, the golden light of the Solar Plexus chakra will lead us to brighter days. Blessings! Druyan

hen was the last time you felt your inner Goddess? Maybe it was last month, maybe it has been a few years, or maybe you have never encountered her; maybe you aren’t aware you even have an inner Goddess. As July rolls around, the Universe is calling you to open your heart and mind to set your inner Goddess free. For those of you wondering where to begin looking for your Goddess, you can start with your Solar Plexus chakra. This chakra is where the soul of your Goddess resides. Her breath and vitality are fed by your personal empowerment and the freedom you feel to live life on your terms. Her life blood pulses from the positivity of your self-value, and her heart beats with every joy and pleasure you experience. Your Goddess represents your personal power. Her spirit springs forth from your passions and interests, your talents and spiritual gifts, from the people and things you love, from your joys, your sensuality and sexuality, and most importantly, your voice. She is you, the version of you that is beautiful and perfect just as you are. The version of you who is free of fear, who slays self-doubt, and ignores the negative illusions you’ve been taught. For those who have experienced an emotional trauma or are stuck in a pattern of dis-empowering beliefs, you may sporadically feel your Goddess only to have her energy doused by the sudden revival of those emotions from a new occur20 LOTUS MOON

rence. Some of you may have yet to feel your Goddess due to continual exposure to dis-empowering people and situations. If you frequently experience fear, self-doubt or dis-empowering beliefs, over time it can feel like your Goddess has withered away into oblivion. The good thing, however, is that your Goddess is never completely gone. You give credence to her existence and fortify her life simply by following your heart, listening to your desires, speaking your voice and staying true to your soul. This can be challenging in a world shrouded by disillusioned realism, but something we all need to strive for. Since your Goddess is part of who you are, her energy needs to be as present in your life always. The more you allow your Goddess to become part of your reality, the more your life will change in miraculous ways. So how do you ignite the energy of your inner Goddess? Or even find her, some of you may be asking? It is going to require a little bit of work on your part, but your reward will be great. Let’s start by seeking out your inner joy. Inner Joy. First, I want you to write down five things that make you feel amazing. Make sure they are things that make YOU feel amazing, not things that you believe should make you feel amazing, or things that you do because they make other people feel amazing. For example, I thoroughly dislike yoga. I have tried it countless times over the years and really want to like it because of its health and spiritual benefits, but I yet been able to. Something I do love? Dancing. I love ballet and I love Irish dance, but what really brings me joy is dancing completely uninhibited to

1.

club music, especially while I cook and have a cocktail. I want you to focus on the things that make you completely giddy inside. Maybe that’s being in nature or on a dance floor in a nightclub. Maybe it’s eating healthy or singing Karaoke nude. It doesn’t matter what it is, only that you feel a burgeoning excitement within you, so much so that you can’t stop smiling. The only specification for your list is that your items aren’t dependent on anyone but you. Granted, we all have people who bring us joy or make us feel giddy inside, but relying on another to bring YOU joy is an illusion. If it’s something that doesn’t require anything of the other person, like watching your children play and grow, that’s fine, but you don’t want seek personal happiness from the attention of another. Now that you have your list of five inner joys, make it a priority to incorporate one of these joys into your life each day. Maybe you will need to expand your list or create multiple lists to suit your schedule, but whatever you do, make feeling joy a priority every day of your life. Pampering. Next, make another list of five ways in which you love to pamper yourself. Maybe it’s a massage, a day at the spa, or letting your cat knead your back with its claws. However you feel pampered, write it down. Once you have your list, pick one item that you can do each week for yourself. If you are on a budget, get creative. Try to make the time special for you. Plan for a time when you won’t feel rushed or distracted—a time when you can completely submerge yourself in the pampering free of work or family distractions. Allowing yourself to feel pam-

2.

pered is an important step in connecting with your Goddess, because you are actively affirming your worth. When you deny yourself pampering you are not only telling yourself you’re not deserving of feeling good physically and mentally, you are also telling the Universe you’re not deserving. The Universe is like a mirror, reflecting back to you the energy you put out. Each time you deny yourself pampering or even necessities, the Universe matches your energy and brings more denial your way. Make sure you are telling yourself, and the Universe, at least once a week, that you are indeed deserving of pampering, and so much more. Sensuality. People often get sensuality and sexuality confused—it’s easy to do with product marketing in our society. Sensuality is simply indulging in your senses, all six of them. Find a way to indulge at least one of your senses each day. Maybe wear your favorite perfume to tantalize your sense of smell or indulge your sense of taste by treating yourself to your favorite food. The most important thing, however, is to not do indulge in anything that will simultaneously make you feel bad. Maybe your sense of taste loves donuts, but your mind and body don’t agree, in that case avoid the donuts. Do what is for the highest good of your mind and body. Your sixth sense, yes we all have one, is also a sense you need to indulge. If you are new to spirituality you may find yourself lost as to how to indulge your sixth sense. You could start by meditating or listening to a guided meditation. You could learn about a spiritual practice that interests you, or meander through a metaphysical shop.

3.

While indulging your sixth sense it will be important to let your intuition and spiritual guides help you discover more about this sense and yourself. The key to developing your sixth sense is to remain open-minded and avoid judging ideas or practices without knowledge. Beauty. Everyone should feel as beautiful on the outside as they do on the inside. It can be hard in an appearance-driven society, but how you feel about yourself is really what the world sees. Your love for yourself is like a beacon of beauty. When you truly accept and love yourself for the uniquely beautiful person you are, the more others will see you with those same eyes. True self-love is a challenge for many of us. It’s not the narcissistic act many present to the world to mask their self-doubt issues, it is loving and accepting of yourself for who you are, faults and all. It can take a lifetime to truly love yourself and find your inner beauty, but selflove is a necessity for your inner Goddess. So let’s make another list of five things that make YOU feel beautiful. Maybe that’s a new lipstick or a trip to the gym. Maybe it’s starting your day with a detoxifying smoothie or giving yourself a cleansing mask. Maybe you feel beautiful when you get dressed up and go out to a nice dinner with your significant other. Whatever makes you feel beautiful, put it on your list. From your list, pick one thing to do at least three days a week. I’m sure there are some of you who like me, need one day a week spent lounging in pajamas at home with no makeup, that’s perfectly fine. The goal here is to help yourself feel beautiful as

often as you can. Peace. Do you have any peace in your life? If so, what do you do to gain it? Do you meditate? Attend yoga? Spend time in nature? Hide from your children in the bathroom? Finding peace is necessary for our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. Engaging in some activity that brings you peace on a regular basis can do wonders for your mind, body and soul. Your next list is to find five ways in which you are able to find peace. The goal with this list is to come up with activities that you can engage in 5-7 days a week. Some of the most successful people in the world begin their days with peaceful rituals such as meditation or exercise. Find activities that you would enjoy doing on a daily basis and incorporate them into your daily routines. I start my days by lying in bed and thanking the Universe for all that I am grateful for. Your activity doesn’t need to be time-consuming or complicated, simply something that brings you peace. Affirmations. Here is another activity that strengthens your Goddess and is highly beneficial in all aspects of your life. I often hear people warn against doing affirmations unless you fully believe them. When I was just beginning my spiritual awakening I feared affirmations thinking they wouldn’t work because I didn’t believe them. Something I have learned since is how easily we can become convinced of something. Think about all the things you have learned throughout your life. Many of those lessons you believe not because you experienced them, but because you were told to believe them. For many

6.

of us, lessons came from trusted sources like family, friends, teachers and educated professionals. Unfortunately, those same people also instilled within us beliefs that don’t resonate with our soul, some being downright destructive to our self-love and self-worth. Many of us have convinced ourselves over the years that those negative beliefs about ourselves are the truth. How can we turn these negative lessons around and start seeing our positive qualities? Through affirmations. Remember the Law of Attraction? That which you place focus on manifests, so shouldn’t you be focusing on your positive qualities? Your next list is going to consist of five positive affirmations. Affirmation are simple phrases that should always begin with, “I am” such as, “I am worthy”, “I am deserving”, “I am beautiful”, “I am loved”, “I am talented”, “I am intelligent” etc. Does your love life need a boost? Focus on affirmations related to self-love and worthiness instead of finding your next love interest. Are you struggling financially? Focus on affirmations related to self-worth and being deserving instead of figuring out how you can earn more money or cut expenses. If you find yourself having difficulty believing in the more general affirmations, get specific. Your goal is to create five affirmations now and grow your list over time. Your affirmations are fluid—alter the list as necessary to improve your life, and remember to make your affirmations a daily priority. Eradicate. Your next and final list may prove to be quite a challenge, but one that will bring your Goddess the ultimate freedom. List five people or situations in your life that make you feel dis-empowered. It could

be a parent who has unrealistic expectations for you. It could be a boss who never listens to your ideas or criticizes your work. It could be a significant other who is verbally abusive, or maybe you are battling an illness and feel you have lost control of your health, and life. Whatever you are struggling with that makes you feel powerless, write it down. Now what to do with your list— look at each list item and come up with a way in which you could feel empowered within the situation. How you can you regain your personal power? For some of you that could be speaking your mind, sharing your feelings can go a long way in helping you regain your power. For others, you may need leave the situation completely to regain your power, whether temporarily or per-

manently. If your health is an issue, find something in your life that you can control, something that empowers you. Now be mindful that control of a person or situation does not equal power. The majority of our life experiences may be out of our control, but our goal is to retain our personal power in the face of what is out of our control. This list may take some time to accomplish, and that’s fine. For some of you, it may feel like you never actually complete it as situations and people change. All you need to do is try. By trying you are strengthening your Goddess through learning, personal and spiritual growth, and by working through Karma. Now that you have your lists, start employing them and you will

be well on your way to connecting with your Goddess and setting her fabulous energy free. If you are a planner, see what progress you have made in a week, a month, or five years from now. If you’re not a planner, do what feels right for you. There will be times your Goddess runs for the hills and you want to hide away from the world. This is perfectly natural as we are human and life is incredibly difficult at times. What I want for you is for your Goddess to be a prominent figure in your life, because with her by your side, you can make miracles happen for yourself. Life is beautiful, and so are you. It’s time you see it and understand the beautiful magic you and your Goddess can create together. Written by Heather Noble

ara Logsdon and I began our conversation months ago when I asked her some questions about her version of the tarot deck, the BEAROT. Tara agreed to let me share this hybrid conversation, cobbled together over the past spring months. She is based in Phoenix Arizona, but spends a lot of time in Los Angeles at the House of Intuition, a metaphysical shop dedicated to helping people achieve healing, transformation, empowerment and personal growth.

bear and you could see someone put a lot of effort into it, but then they didn’t complete it. I thought it was so sad, so I bought it and took it home. After a few days, I started to modify it and everyone really liked what I was doing and I started getting an overwhelming number of requests for them.

LM: I remember your INFLUX

installation in 2011. You had an entire storefront filled with teddy bears. TL: There were more than 400 bears in that window. I used every single one of them to create minions for my BEARMY! I’ve made over 1500 bears, since I’ve started.

LOTUS MOON: What do you do at

the House of Intuition? TARA LOGSDON: I do all their design. Its such a beautiful place and I’m really fortunate to work there. Design work is how I pay the bills. I feel really lucky to be able to use my techie skills with, and for such a spiritual family. Its so nice to work there, I’ve never had this kind of balance in my work before. I learn so much from them. LM: Tell me about how you came

to create the BEAROT deck. And what’s all this about DIE Bearmy? Its all over your car. TL: DIE Bearmy is a long, long, long, long, long project I’ve been working on. I find and rehab old teddy bears, and customize their design according to the specifications and wishes of the people who receive them. I rescue them. I started working with teddy bears when, one day, I went to a garage sale with my interesting, ie. wacky, aunt Kris in Nebraska. There was this unfinished teddy LOTUS MOON

LM: So what are you doing now? TL: Right now, I’m working on my

second collection of geode bears. LM: Yes, these bears are really

beautiful—the contrasts in textures, weight and brilliance. Why the geodes? TL: I use the geodes because I’ve been talking to rocks my entire life. Its more like the monadic vibrations of the rocks that talk to me. Geodes have so much to say, they are like little secrets. I’ve been fasci-

30 LOTUS MOON

nated by them since I was a kid. LM: So, you were upcycling before upcycling was upcycling! TL: HA! Yes, but it has more to do with helping finish all this work someone had already done. Its like, you invest a lot of time in something, anticipate its future and who’s going to love it, and then… how does it end up in a thrift store? Or how do you sell this at a garage sale, you know? LM: Yes, I know you connect aban-

donment with consumption in a

really interesting way through your work. That’s a fine line. TL: You’re right, it also has to do with the horrendous waste associated with raising a kid, or even just living in this day and age. Did you know, if one teddy bear has a single, plastic fiber in it, it will outlive 47 generations of living, breathing grizzle bears?! So, I’m like, why the f%@& are we having slaves suffering in China to make more plastic s%!$ when the ones we already have are going to be here for such

a long time? I like to imagine I’m giving them another life. LM: So, why the German prefix in your DIE Bearmy name? TL: Its actually my grandmother’s initials in monogram, and she happen to be as German as you can get. She was a huge embroiderer, she was so good! Her name was Dorothy Elizabeth Icenogle. I loved her very much and she died when I was 12 years old. LM: Oh, I’m so sorry. That’s such a

formative age. How sad. TL: Yes, I’ve missed her very much since then, but I’m certain she’s come back through my son, Legend. He almost died from meningococcal meningitis. He was so sick, and then he recovered as if nothing happened. I’m pretty sure that’s when she entered his body, he came out of that episode without any damage, at all. That never happens when someone gets that kind of meningitis.

she is at the House of Intuition. She provided a lot of insight into the meaning of the cards and guided me in choosing the symbols and writing the book. So, one of the things that I find with tarot, is that the cards are really good for reading a situation. They describe the circumstances, they can tell you whats happening, I mean, its great when you can get information about a given situation, but I want to know, “What do I do next?” I wanted my cards to offer instructions, solutions, next steps— not just a description of what was

happening. That’s what I really hope the BEAROT does. LM: How do you use the cards? TL: I’m a novice. Really, I draw

cards for my own information, sometimes pulling them at the beginning of the day, to learn more about what’s going on. But I have never read for any one else. LM: What are some of your habits

when you throw cards? TL: I always light a candle, it’s like a freeway for the information to come in, sort of like a lightening rod for the energy and guides.

LM: Yes, isn’t it funny how feeling

people who’ve passed has everything to do with time and yet remembering has no time of its own? TL: Yeah, I like that. LM: So, now I understand a little

better about the icon of the stuffed bear on the BEAROT. I was given a BEAROT deck by a close friend of mine. I told her how I wanted to design my own tarot deck, and together, we marveled at the complexity of the task. Thank you for making them! Can you tell our readers about how and why you designed the BEAROT? TL: I’m always wanting to know more about stuff, and I was curious about the tarot, so I figured a good way to learn about it was to make a deck. I worked with this really great healer/reader who’s a good friend of mine. Her name is Naha Armády,

LM: Yes, a close friend said white

candles are the ticket? TL: Any color really, but, yeah, white is brilliant. Another thing I do is shuffle the cards according to the date. So, on the 29th I shuffle 2 times—29 adds to 11, which reduces to 2 in numerology. Then I have something I say as I vibe the cards before cutting them in three piles, “I call on my guides guardians and relations to show me what cards I need to see at this time.” LM: How can people get a deck of

your cards? TL: At the moment they are out of print, but I’m planning another run before the holidays. LM: BEAR with me as I change the

subject. Sometimes, on your Facebook, I see your status is, “gonna 32 LOTUS MOON

leave this body for a minute” and you check in at Sahaja yoga center in Phoenix. TL: Yes. Its awesome. LM: Tell me a little bit about your

practice. TL: I practice Sahaja yoga at the Meditation Center on 24th and Osborn, in Phoenix. It’s really changed how I live in the world. I’ve been going for seven years; I can’t believe its been that long, and I always learn something new every time I meditate there. You should go! LM: Oh, I cannot move like that in

front of strangers! TL: Its not that sort of yoga. We stay seated for a lot of the meditation and its soooooo peaceful. Everyone is really welcoming and when we all mediate together, you can feel the

energy! Its exponential! We begin by raising our Kundalini. The idea is to open the pathway for a divine energy to move through your chakras. I have a hard time describing it, people spend their entire lives in the practice. I’m really still learning so much. You really should go. LM: There is no fee to do yoga at

the center, either. Right? TL: Yes, the energy there is so positive and powerful. I figure, if I can introduce the practice to someone and it helps them find some sort of peace, then that’s the best thing I can do in the world. You know? So I went. I could feel the energy in the room, it was clear as a bell. Written by Joan K. Webster

Summer 2016

PSYCHIC FORECAST July: Return of the Goddess

This month it is time to for you to connect with the goddess within. She is the beautiful, intelligent, and powerful yet feminine soul within you that rarely sees the light of day. Whether you have locked her away out of fear, denial, or because of external expectations, it is time for you to set her free. This exotic beauty is part of you, to the depths of your soul, and needs to revel in the light of day similar to a plant that needs sunlight to grow. The goddess within will look different for everyone, so you will have to explore yourself and find out just what makes your goddess unique. It is not important what she looks like or what attributes she embodies, what is important is that you set her free. Whether your goddess thrives on sexual energy, or she thrives on beauty, or she thrives on nature, it doesn’t matter, just let her out and follow her lead. If you know nothing about your inner goddess, what she looks like, what her passions are, where she is hiding within you…start by connecting with your Solar Plexus chakra. Her persona begins with your personal empowerment. This month it will be necessary to delve deep within and figure out where in your life you feel disempowered. Where do you feel you are quelling a piece of you to make another happy. Whether it’s at work, in a relationship, within a specific family dynamic, where do you feel you 34 LOTUS MOON

have to hide a piece of yourself for the sake of someone else? Wherever your true-self is being quelled, that is where your personal exploration needs to begin. During your exploration, pay close attention to your feelings, your intuitive nudges, and your dreams.

As you go within and seek your hidden goddess, your soul and spiritual guides will be helping you by sending messages along the way. They can come in any form, a dream, a feeling, an idea, or even another person. Let your intuition guide your very important spiritual

journey to connect with your inner Goddess. For my male readers, you might be wondering how to embrace your inner goddess being male, or outright protesting that you have an inner goddess. Let me assure you that you do, just as everyone also has a warrior within. For a man, his goddess doesn’t have to embody beauty or femininity, his goddess is simply an acceptance of the natural emotions he feels, along with his Divine connection. As men it can be easy to suppress emotions, especially in a society that propagates the notion that men have to be strong and without weakness, especially emotional. We are born into our human bodies with a gender to procreate, but our gender doesn’t define us, especially in the eyes of the Universe. You are who you are, and you have feelings, wants, needs, and desires that are uniquely yours. Seek your inner goddess this month by embracing all of you, your strengths, your weaknesses, your gifts and talents, and everything that makes you uniquely you. Love yourself and all that you have to offer, and let that powerful energy radiate out into the world.

the lesson within and use it to learn and grow, the final result will be positive. Vulnerability will be the key to helping you work through your lessons this month. Allowing yourself to see and accept those aspects of yourself that aren’t what you want or expect will be necessary. Blame will be part of this month’s lessons; it may be necessary for you to stop blaming others and take responsibility for your actions and your life. Accepting all of yourself and taking responsibility requires incredible vulnerability, and the Universe is urging you to do so now. Intuitive messages and psychic visions will be high this month, especially during the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse that occurs on August 18th. While the moon is waxing, pay close attention to your dreams, your ideas, your feelings, and your intuition. You are coming to the

end of a journey and although this month brings challenges and surprises, do not let them derail the hard work you have been doing. Whatever unfolds you are on the right path, you just need another lesson or two to help you complete this journey and move on to the next. Although August sounds like it will be a difficult month, and I won’t deny it will likely come with challenges, it also comes with incredible opportunities for personal learning and spiritual growth. Make sure you take time for yourself this month to meditate, exercise, clear your energy, or doing things you love. Self-care will be paramount to help you stay clear and focused as the month unfolds. If you can, I suggest spending as much time in water as possible. It’s grounding and clearing properties will help you greatly.

August: Vulnerability Go With the Flow August will be a powerful month with cosmic forces shaking things up and delivering challenges, surprises, and lessons. This will be the month to go with the flow. Expect the unexpected and do not fight what occurs, it is necessary for your personal growth. Whether the events unfold in a positive or negative way, if you can recognize LOTUS MOON

35

September: Authenticity & Power As September unfolds, the energy will be like that of August. September brings with it another Lunar Eclipse and a Solar Eclipse so hold onto your hats because the lessons and changes aren’t over yet. What these lessons and changes will bring, however, is great insight to your authentic-self. As you are faced with new challenges and lessons, you will realize that you no longer want to live the way you have been living. You will begin to feel restricted with the limitations you have placed on yourself and will be inclined to break free from expectations. Go with it. It is likely beyond

36 LOTUS MOON

time for you to let your true-self shine. Just like August, allow yourself to go with the flow. You will be propelled out of your comfort zone this month and that is fine, in fact it is necessary. Growth does not take place during times of comfort and ease, it takes place when the Earth opens beneath your feet and you are tossed down the ‘rabbit hole’. You will not help yourself by hiding away from the world this month. Instead, propel yourself out into it and let your light and personal power shine. Embrace your fears and meet any challenging life-lessons head on. This is all happening for your highest good so do not be afraid, no matter what happens, the Universe and your spiritual guides are by your side. As September transpires, take

time to explore the new you that is unfolding. Whatever has occurred over the last month has changed you, maybe just a little or maybe into a completely different person, but use this month to explore and embrace the new you. There is so much to learn and discover, and it is important to do so as you shape new dreams into being. As September comes to a close and another Eclipse Season passes, you may feel adrift, lost or out of sorts—this is when self-care and making yourself a priority will be a must. Follow whatever inner guidance you receive to relax, rejuvenate, and explore your passions. You are worthy, you are deserving, and you NEED to let yourself feel it. Written by Heather Noble

NUMEROSCOPE Life Path Number: The Life Path is the most important number in your numerology chart, and is derived from your date of birth. It reveals your most fulfilling direction and the major lessons you are here to learn during this lifetime. This number gives a broad outline of the opportunities and challenges you will encounter, and the personal traits that will assist you on this journey. Your Life Path number is derived from adding the digits of your full birth date. Begin by converting the month, day, and birth year to single digits then adding them together. The total sum is further reduced by adding the remaining digits together until a single digit is obtained. *The exception to this rule is with the ‘Master Numbers’ 11 and 22 - i.e. November the 11th month, birthdays on the 11th or 22nd, or sum totals of 11 or 22. These numbers are not converted to single digits.
